O peso da Tecnologia

Um mundo sem tecnologia é hoje inconcebível. No mundo atual ninguém consegue passar sem televisão, smartphone, computador e toda uma panóplia de gadgets. As tecnologias assumiram um papel essencial no nosso dia-a-dia e ficar sem elas seria inimaginável para muitos de nós. A evolução tecnológica tem sido altamente compensadora e benéfica para a espécie humana em praticamente todas as áreas, desde a saúde aos transportes passando pelas comunicações, pelo mercado de trabalho e até pelo lazer. Para as empresas, o progresso na implementação de tendências tecnológicas estratégicas ajuda a economizar tempo e, portanto, dinheiro. As trocas são mais rápidas, especialmente com a internet. A tecnologia aumentou a produtividade de quase todos os setores de atividade. Graças à tecnologia, podemos até pagar com bitcoins em vez de usar bancos e dinheiro físico.

No entanto, também existem riscos derivados desta evolução como, por exemplo, a dependência de novas tecnologias. O homem já não precisa de pensar. Mesmo que a calculadora seja uma boa invenção, o homem já não faz cálculos mentais e não trabalha mais a memória. O declínio do capital humano implica um aumento do desemprego, até porque em algumas áreas, os dispositivos podem substituir a mente humana. O uso da tecnologia precisa de novas regras e leis. Por exemplo, o uso da Internet é livre, na maior parte do mundo e tanto pode ser utilizada para fins benéficos como prejudiciais. É uma liberdade individual. É verdade que os regulamentos são difíceis de implementar quando as tecnologias são introduzidas, como por exemplo regulamentos referentes á chegada iminente de veículos autónomos. Tudo tem o seu lado positivo e negativo, resta-nos esperar que as sociedades saibam tirar o melhor partido das ferramentas de que dispõem, incluindo, naturalmente a tecnologia.

Technological evolution has been highly rewarding and beneficial for the human species in practically all areas, from health to transport to communications, the labor market, and even leisure. For companies, progress in implementing strategic technological trends helps to save time and therefore money. Exchanges are faster, especially with the internet. Technology has increased the productivity of almost all sectors of activity. Thanks to technology, we can even pay with bitcoins instead of using banks and physical cash.

However, there are also risks derived from this evolution, for example, the dependence on new technologies. The man no longer needs to think. Even though the calculator is a good invention, man no longer makes mental calculations and no longer works on memory. The decline in human capital implies an increase in unemployment, not least because, in some areas, devices can replace the human mind. The use of technology needs new rules and laws. For example, Internet use is free in most parts of the world and can be used for both beneficial and harmful purposes. It is individual freedom. It is true that regulations are difficult to implement when technologies are introduced, such as regulations regarding the imminent arrival of autonomous vehicles. Everything has its positive and negative side, we can only hope that societies know how to make the best use of the tools they have, including, of course, technology.
