YOUNG residents from ward 40 in Gugulethu marched to the police station to try and seek a solution the incessant and deadly territorial battles in the area. According to the protesters, three young boys have been killed and others injured since the fights broke out midyear. Teenagers from Barcelona and Europe informal settlements claim that they are attacked whenever they venture into areas like Lusaka and vice versa. They handed over a list of grievances to the police with the hope that the matter will be given attention. “We need police to be visible in the affected areas and patrol during the morning and afternoon when learners travel to schools as this are the times when the attacks occur the most,” said Thobelani Mkhohli, ANCYL secretary.
