HONORING EXCELLENCE

THE INAUGURAL FOREFRONT AWARDS

Great teams don’t happen by chance. They’re built through passion, grit, and a shared commitment to something bigger than ourselves. At Forefront, our people aren’t just employees—they’re the driving force behind everything we accomplish. They turn challenges into opportunities, bring innovation to the table, and set the bar higher every single day.

That’s why this year, as we’ve grown in both size and impact, we knew it was time to start a new tradition: The Forefront Awards. This inaugural celebration recognized ten exceptional team members who went above and beyond, setting new standards in leadership, service, and excellence. Honored across three categories—Manager

of the Year, Employee of the Year, and Rising Star— these individuals represent the very best of who we are.

“There’s a quiet strength in the work our people do every day—solving problems, supporting one another, and showing up with integrity. As Forefront has grown, we’ve never lost sight of what makes us different: our people.” said Dan Bowen, Co-Founder & CEO. “The Forefront Awards aren’t

just about recognition; they’re about gratitude. It’s our way of taking a step back and saying, ‘Your efforts matter. You make a difference.’ This is just the beginning of a tradition that ensures our culture remains rooted in appreciation and respect.”

Each honoree represents a story of perseverance, leadership, and an undeniable commitment to making a difference. Whether through mentorship, operational excellence, or the pursuit of innovation, they reflect the best of Forefront. Their efforts impact not only the residents, patients, students and communities we serve, but also the communities we are a part of, shaping Forefront into the organization it is today. These awards symbolize the values we hold dear: a relentless pursuit of excellence, a commitment to growth, and an unwavering dedication to our core mission.

For Gary Pollack, CPXP, Managing Partner, who has been instrumental in shaping Forefront’s focus on employee engagement, this initiative underscores the company’s commitment to fostering an environment where people thrive.

“We don’t just invest in services—we invest in people,” Pollack said. “What sets Forefront apart is our dedication to employee growth, empowerment, and recognition. The Forefront Awards

are a natural extension of that philosophy. Our goal is not only to celebrate excellence but to inspire it, ensuring that every team member feels valued and motivated to reach their full potential.”

While these awards shine a spotlight on ten exceptional individuals, they are also a reflection of the larger team that drives Forefront’s continued success. Every employee plays a role in our journey, and this tradition is just one way we reaffirm our gratitude and commitment to fostering a culture where every contribution is recognized. It’s this collective spirit, this unyielding belief in each other, that fuels our progress and strengthens the foundation upon which we continue to build.

The First Annual Forefront Awards mark the beginning of a lasting tradition—one that will evolve and grow alongside our company, ensuring that our people remain at the heart of everything we do. As we celebrate these incredible achievements, we also look forward to the continued excellence that will define Forefront in the years ahead.

My passion for barbecue runs deep. Some of my earliest memories involve road trips with my father, seeking out the best BBQ spots across America. I learned the art of smoking meat on a Weber kettle, spending late nights perfecting chicken and pork. Every time I fire up the pit, I’m reminded of those cherished moments— and I love sharing that passion with our teams, clients, and communities as part of our mission to Elevate the Service Experience.

Creating a Gallup Employee Engagement Action Plan

You’ve received your latest Gallup Employee Engagement Survey results—now what? It’s time to create an action plan! A structured approach ensures a deliberate and effective strategy to enhance workplace culture and maximize performance.

Steps to Build an Effective Engagement Action Plan

Step 1

Analyze the Results

Look beyond the numbers to identify key engagement themes and concerns. Prepare an agenda for team discussions, and focus on one to three areas that resonate most. If survey questions average 3 or 4 out of 5, engagement is inconsistent—these areas offer the greatest opportunity for improvement.

Step 2

Share, Discuss, and Learn

Foster open conversations about the findings. Show genuine commitment to improvement and invite your team’s perspectives and ideas.

Step 3

Set Goals and Define Action Items

Brainstorm simple, actionable initiatives to enhance engagement. Assign ownership for each action item and set deadlines for progress check-ins.

Step 4

Make Engagement a Daily Priority

Incorporate engagement into daily routines—small, consistent efforts and meaningful interactions drive longterm improvement.

Step 5

Follow Up Regularly

Schedule ongoing progress reviews, celebrate wins, and adjust strategies as needed.

Final Thoughts

When employees feel heard, they’re more engaged, connected, and satisfied. A Gallup study found that highly engaged business units see an 81% reduction in absenteeism and a 14% increase in productivity. By acting on engagement insights, you create a motivated, highperforming team.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Enhancing Patient Satisfaction Through Real-Time Feedback

A clean, safe, and welcoming environment directly impacts satisfaction and HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores. To strengthen our commitment to exceptional service, we are launching a pilot program to collect real-time feedback from patients, residents, and their families.

In collaboration with RoundFactory and the patient advocacy team at Springhill Medical Center, we are developing a live satisfaction survey— an innovative way for patients and residents to share their impressions of cleanliness and service. A QR code linked to the survey will be printed on specially designed business cards, created with support from the Marketing team. These cards will be left in patient and resident rooms, providing a simple and immediate way to give feedback via smartphone.

Why It Matters

HCAHPS scores offer critical insights into how patients perceive their care, including the cleanliness of their environment. These scores not only serve as benchmarks but also influence hospital reputation, reimbursement, and, most importantly, patient trust. By implementing a live survey, we can address concerns promptly, celebrate successes, and identify opportunities for improvement in real time.

Collaboration and Impact

This initiative highlights the power of teamwork in driving excellence. The patient advocacy team at Springhill Medical Center has provided valuable insights to ensure the survey is user-friendly and aligned with patient needs. Meanwhile, the Marketing team’s engaging design for the business cards will encourage participation, making it easy for patients to share their experiences.

This pilot program is more than a new tool—it’s a testament to our dedication to creating environments that support healing, safety, and satisfaction. Stay tuned for updates as we roll out this exciting initiative!

GOVERNMENT

Monthly Performance Review for Forefront’s Fort Bliss Base Operations Support Contract

Performance measurements for federal contracts differ significantly from commercial counterparts. All federal contracts are governed by a Performance Requirements Summary (PWS), which outlines the minimum acceptable performance levels.

For Forefront’s Fort Bliss Base Operations Support contract performance is assessed by three Government Quality Assurance Inspectors (QAIs), three PRIDE QC inspectors, and Forefront supervisors. These six individuals are responsible for reviewing completed work processes to assess the quality of services provided. Quality points are measured in three key areas: the quality of work, administrative actions required by each process, and the timeliness of service delivery in comparison to PWS requirements. Results are tabulated and reviewed monthly to determine performance levels.

For January 2025, Illustration 1 shows the total number of completed demand maintenance orders (DMOs) and preventive maintenance orders (PMOs) carried out by the Forefront shops throughout the month. Priority classifications are as follows: P1 is an emergency service with a one-hour response and 24-hour completion deadline; P2 is urgent, with a 24-hour response and 72-hour completion deadline; and P3 must be completed within 30 days of issuance. PMOs vary by equipment type and typically follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule recommendations.

For January, Forefront achieved a 100% performance rating for all 499 completed DMOs. However, one PM had an administrative finding (as shown in Illustration 2), resulting in a total PM rating of 99.76%. The administrative error involved the technician not leaving a completed PM report at the air compressor.

In conclusion, performance on federal contracts is evaluated monthly by both the government and the contractor. Forefront compiles all inspection results and data, which are presented to both our prime contractor (PRIDE) and the government during monthly performance reviews.

Introducing Forefront’s New, Updated Website: OneForefront.com

In 2024, we set out to create something transformative—a website that truly reflects who we are, the exceptional work we do, and the people who make Forefront what it is. Today, I’m proud to announce the launch of oneforefront.com, a platform that brings our story to life in a fresh, dynamic, and competitive way.

This project was a nine-month journey that challenged and inspired us. Forefront partners with Leanpath to bring AI-enabled food waste management to their kitchens

[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Beaverton, OR - April 1, 2025]Forefront, a specialized culinary and support services company serving organizations in healthcare, senior living, education and government throughout the United States, has partnered with Leanpath to reduce its food waste using AI-enabled food waste solutions.

At four of its client sites, Forefront culinary teams are now tracking their food waste using Leanpath technology, giving them clear insight into what is being wasted and why. Using AI-driven recommendations, Leanpath helps these teams implement operational changes to reduce waste, cut costs, and enhance sustainability efforts.

“Like most culinary-focused companies, Forefront has been actively searching for solutions to counter the rising cost of food without passing these increases on to those we serve and partner with,” explains Rob Pasos, Forefront’s President of Culinary and Nutrition Services. “Leanpath was an obvious choice to help us develop a waste management solution through the use of technology and better practices.”

Forefront customizes its foodservice programs to each client’s needs, focusing on regionally inspired menus and locally sourced ingredients. Ensuring that food is utilized efficiently is a natural extension of this mission.

“We put so much focus on our culinary programs, and the last thing we want to see is any of that food going to waste,” says Corporate Director of Communications, Brendan Buffa.

Food waste is a critical issue worldwide. One-third of all food produced is lost or wasted each year, with the foodservice industry accounting for one-quarter of that waste. According to Leanpath data, 5% to 15% of a commercial kitchen’s food purchases are wasted—a costly inefficiency both financially and environmentally.

“Most foodservice kitchens lack clear visibility into what is being wasted and why,” said Leanpath Founder and CEO Andrew Shakman. “Leanpath not only provides that data but also uses AI and behavioral science to engage culinary teams in preventing waste before it happens. We’re thrilled to partner with Forefront to support their sustainability mission.”

“Leanpath’s AI-driven insights empower our teams to make data-informed decisions, minimize waste, and drive sustainability in our kitchens,” explains Pasos. “As a tech-forward company, we value partnerships that push the boundaries of innovation, and Leanpath’s advancements align perfectly with our commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility.”
