Sailing Into Paradise

2025 Caribbean Regattas & Maritime Adventures

The Caribbean’s stunning waters, balmy breezes, and picturesque coastlines have long attracted sailors and maritime enthusiasts from around the world. Each year, the region plays host to an array of exhilarating regattas that draw participants from every corner of the globe, offering them the chance to showcase their sailing skills and celebrate the vibrant island culture. These regattas are much more than mere races—they are celebrations of maritime heritage, community spirit, and the unparalleled beauty of the Caribbean.

In 2025, the Caribbean will again be home to an exciting calendar of regatta events that offer something for everyone, whether you’re an experienced sailor, a newcomer to the sport, or someone who simply enjoys the lively atmosphere and spectacular views. From thrilling races across the open sea to smaller, more intimate regattas, the Caribbean offers numerous opportunities for adventure, competition, and cultural immersion.

The year kicks off with a prestigious event in Antigua and Barbuda—the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge, which occurs at varying dates in January. This formidable competition is one of the most demanding rowing races in the world, where rowers race across the Atlantic from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. It’s an awe-inspiring event that pushes competitors to their physical and mental limits. As the rowers reach Antigua, the arrival of the boats marks a celebration of endurance and perseverance, drawing crowds from all over to witness the feat.

Following this, on January 18, the British Virgin Islands host the Painkiller Cup, which strikes a perfect balance between competitive sailing and the island’s renowned laid-back atmosphere. The event welcomes sailors of all levels, with races in various boat classes. The Painkiller Cup is known for its fun, festive vibe, where sailors and spectators can enjoy delicious local food, drinks, and, of course, the famous Painkiller cocktail. It’s an excellent opportunity to experience the heart of the British Virgin Island’s sailing community while taking in the beauty of its turquoise waters and lively social scene.

From February 18-21, the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Nelson’s Cup Series brings elite sailors from across the world to Antigua’s stunning coastline. This high-profile event is a true test of skill, as participants navigate the beautiful yet challenging waters surrounding the island. Spectators can watch thrilling races and enjoy the sight of impressive yachts gliding across the sea, all while soaking in the gorgeous scenery that makes Antigua such a special place for sailors and visitors alike. The Nelson’s Cup is followed closely by the RORC Caribbean 600 Race, which runs from February 24-28. This grueling 600-nautical-mile race takes competitors through some of the Caribbean’s most spectacular and demanding waters, with the route passing through islands like St. Kitts, Nevis, and St. Barthélemy. With intense competition and breathtaking views, the RORC Caribbean 600 Race stands out as a highlight on the Caribbean sailing calendar.

The action continues in March with the SXM Heineken Regatta in St. Martin, which runs from March 6-9. This lively event is one of the Caribbean’s largest regattas, combining exhilarating races with a vibrant festival atmosphere. The regatta attracts sailors from all over the world, and it offers races for a variety of boat classes. Beyond the races, attendees can enjoy beach parties, live music, and the lively nightlife of St. Martin, creating a dynamic experience both on and off the water.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines offers a more intimate regatta experience with the Bequia Easter Regatta, held on April 19-20. This traditional regatta is one of the oldest and most beloved events in the Grenadines. Local sailors compete in traditional Bequia-built schooners, racing alongside modern yachts. It’s a friendly, community-oriented event that celebrates island culture, with plenty of food, music, and festivities to enjoy. This regatta provides a perfect opportunity to experience the laid-back spirit of the Grenadines while taking in the stunning views of Bequia’s shores.

April is also a big month for regatta fans in Antigua and Barbuda, with two major events taking place. The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, held from April 16-21, showcases the elegance and craftsmanship of vintage yachts. This prestigious event attracts yacht owners and maritime enthusiasts from all over the world, who race these stunning, classic vessels in

Antigua’s beautiful waters. It’s an event that combines the thrill of racing with a celebration of Antigua’s rich maritime history. Later in the month, from April 26 to May 2, Antigua Sailing Week kicks off, which is one of the Caribbean’s most famous regattas. This world-class event features a series of races and social gatherings, with yachts of all sizes and skill levels participating. After days of intense competition, sailors and spectators come together to enjoy the island’s vibrant nightlife, with beach parties, concerts, and barbecues that make for an unforgettable experience.

St. Vincent’s Canouan Regatta, held on June 8, is a hidden gem that provides a more relaxed and intimate regatta experience. Taking place on the serene island of Canouan in the Grenadines, this event features traditional boat races and offers the chance to immerse yourself in the local maritime culture. With its laid-back vibe and stunning natural beauty, the Canouan Regatta provides a peaceful alternative to some of the larger, more high-profile events in the Caribbean.

Vibes of the Caribbean

Where Music Meets Paradise in 2025

The Caribbean is a region where music plays an integral role in the fabric of daily life, with each island offering its own unique blend of rhythms, sounds, and cultural influences. In 2025, the Caribbean’s music festivals promise to deliver an unforgettable year of melodies, vibrant performances, and cultural experiences. From reggae and jazz to blues and neosoul, the diversity of music found across the islands reflects the colourful, rich history and traditions of the Caribbean. The festivals planned for the year provide an exciting opportunity to experience the region’s artistic spirit, celebrate its culture, and immerse oneself in its infectious energy.

The year kicks off in Antigua and Barbuda with the One National Music Festival, held from January 11-12. This festival is a lively celebration of both Caribbean and global sounds, with performances spanning genres such as reggae, soca, calypso, jazz, pop, and contemporary music. It serves as a platform for emerging artists and offers a chance to experience vibrant performances, cultural displays, and island celebrations. The festival is a perfect way to immerse yourself in the island’s music scene while enjoying its lively atmosphere. In the same month, from January 23-26, Bequia in St. Vincent hosts the Bequia Music Fest. This intimate festival takes place against the stunning backdrop of the island’s beaches, where music lovers can relax on the sand while listening to a mix of reggae, rock, jazz, and soca. It’s an idyllic blend of great music and peaceful island charm, making it an excellent choice for those seeking both cultural immersion and a serene getaway.

For blues enthusiasts, the Mustique Blues Festival, running from January 22 to February 6, offers a more refined musical experience. Held in the luxurious and tranquil setting of Mustique, this festival features world-class blues musicians performing in intimate venues. The serene atmosphere of the island combined with top-tier talent creates an unforgettable blues experience. March brings a diverse range of musical events, starting with the Moonsplash Music Festival in Anguilla from March 13-16. Known for its focus on reggae and roots music, this festival attracts music lovers from around the world. Set against the island’s beautiful beaches, it features laid-back beachside performances from well-known artists, creating an unforgettable musical experience that embraces both the spirit of the Caribbean and the laid-back vibes of the island.

Anguilla also hosts the Annual Hats & Heels event from March 4-9, a celebration that combines glamour with music. This chic festival features live performances, DJ sets, and themed parties across the island. Guests are encouraged to dress in style while enjoying lively tunes in a setting that blends high fashion with vibrant music. On March 15, Antigua and Barbuda presents Soothe: A Night of Neo-Soul, Jazz Rhythms, and Spoken Words. This one-night celebration is ideal for those who enjoy the smooth sounds of neo-soul and jazz, as well as the spoken word. With its relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere, Soothe offers a unique way to unwind while experiencing the serene side of Caribbean culture through music and poetry.

On March 14 and 15, the Bahamian Music and Heritage Festival celebrated on the island of Exuma, is an exciting time for the whole family. This festival features an awesome line-up of The Bahamas’ most popular and talented musicians. Arts and craft such as wood and

conch shell carvings, sand jewelry, straw craft and blown glass jewelry are just some of items that will be on sale along with delicious native dishes. There are activities for kids as well as adults including storytelling, Bahamian dancing and cooking demonstrations.

The Cayman Islands also contribute to the musical calendar with the Capella Music Festival on March 29. This event showcases the island’s music scene, offering performances in various genres, including pop, classical, and jazz. The outdoor concerts, set against stunning Caribbean views, provide an experience that combines musical enjoyment with breathtaking scenery.

In late May, from the 21st to the 26th, Aruba hosts the SB Music Festival, a high-energy event that features diverse performances ranging from reggae to EDM. The festival attracts international crowds, creating an electric atmosphere where top-tier music and the tropical fun of the island blend seamlessly together.

Moving into the summer months, the worldrenowned Reggae SumFest in Jamaica takes place from July 13-19 in Montego Bay. This festival is the largest reggae celebration in the world, drawing huge crowds to witness the best in reggae, dancehall, and soca music. With vibrant performances and a deep connection to Jamaican culture, Reggae SumFest stands as the premier Caribbean music festival of the year.

The Caribbean’s music festivals in 2025 provide an unparalleled opportunity to experience the region’s soul and rhythm. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the upbeat reggae rhythms at Reggae SumFest, relax to the smooth sounds of jazz and neo-soul at Soothe in Antigua, or dance to the infectious beats of soca and calypso at the One National Music Festival, there’s something for every music lover. These festivals bring together diverse cultures, rich rhythms, and unforgettable moments, making the Caribbean the perfect destination to celebrate the universal language of music.
