Celebrate the CARIBBEAN

December 2025 to June 2026

The Caribbean—renowned for its vibrant cultures, breathtaking scenery, and irresistible warmth— welcomes you to an extraordinary start to 2026. From January through June, the islands come alive with an ever-evolving calendar of experiences celebrating music, cuisine, art, sailing, and sport.

This second edition of our Caribbean Event Guide introduces an exciting new structure, highlighting five distinct categories of events: Music Festivals, Eat, Drink & Discover (food and beverage experiences), Sailing Regattas, Cultural Events (including art festivals, carnivals, and more), and Other Sporting Events.

In 2026, food takes center stage. From gourmet gatherings like the Cayman Cookout and Barbados Food and Rum Festival to vibrant local culinary fairs, travellers can taste the islands’ diverse flavors while discovering their deep-rooted traditions and innovative chefs.

Music remains the region’s heartbeat— whether it’s dancing to the pulsating rhythms of Jamaica’s Reggae Month, savouring the smooth sounds of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, or joining street celebrations during the Bahamas’ Junkanoo.

On the water, sailors and spectators alike can embrace the thrill of Caribbean regattas, from world-class races to relaxed island-hopping adventures under radiant skies. Beyond the sea, culture and creativity flourish in carnivals, art festivals, and local traditions that fill the streets with colour and joy.

Eco-conscious travellers can also engage in events that honor the region’s natural beauty— especially during Earth Month—participating in community and conservation initiatives that protect the Caribbean’s priceless environments. Whether you come to dance, dine, sail, or simply soak in the sunshine, the Caribbean’s 2026 calendar promises a season of unforgettable memories—a perfect fusion of celebration, discovery, and island magic.

Warm Caribbean Greetings!

We’re delighted to share our 2026 Caribbean Event Guide—your invitation to experience the rhythm, flavour, and spirit of our islands from December 2025 through June 2026. From lively music and thrilling sailing events to vibrant art, culture, and this year’s special spotlight on our world-class food festivals, every celebration offers a taste of what makes the Caribbean truly unforgettable.

To our Canadian friends, we invite you to explore the region through its many celebrations—dance to the beats of calypso and soca, savour the flavours of island cuisine, and connect with the warmth and hospitality of our people. Each event is more than a date on a calendar; it’s a story, a moment, and an experience that captures the very essence of Caribbean life.

So dive in, discover the events that call to you, and let this guide inspire your next Caribbean adventure. We can’t wait to welcome you to our shores, where every celebration is a reason to smile and every memory feels like sunshine.

Food Festivals

One thing all Caribbean islanders have in common is a love of food and there is nothing they like more than to share their nation’s unique dishes and fresh flavours with visitors. It’s no wonder, then, that food festivals and culinary events liberally pepper the Caribbean event calendar from January through November. And you, esteemed visitor, are invited, so tuck a bib on and get ready to eat.

While most food festivals focus on large glam events featuring celebrity, guest and top local chefs and restauranteurs, some food festivals and culinary events include smaller, out-of-the-limelight activities that are fun to watch, like a junior competition in which kids compete. Others include activities that visitors can participate in, rather than just watch, like guided market, farm or factory tours, cooking classes, tasting events, alcohol and food pairing sessions, and yoga or spa and wellness experiences involving the island’s food/beverage products.

Ready to roll up your sleeves? Here are three Caribbean food festivals with activities in which you can get involved:

Nassau Paradise Island Wine & Food Festival, Bahamas - Spring

The largest culinary extravaganza in Bahamian history, the five-day Nassau Paradise Island Wine & Food Festival in Nassau & Paradise Island, The Islands of the Bahamas, showcases the talents of renowned wine and spirits producers, chefs and culinary personalities, all at the Atlantis in support of the non-profit Atlantis Blue Project Foundation that works to conserve the surrounding Caribbean Sea. (Watch website for 2026 dates.)

Of the 30+ events, some that are participatory include:

Kids Barbie & Ken Culinary Adventure: Children 3 to 12 years, don pink or blue chef hats and aprons and learn to create delicious sweet treats from the Barbie Bake recipe book.

Island Food Tour: Embark on a luxury food tour throughout Nassau guided by a celebrity chef. You’ll enjoy exclusive curated meals at top restaurants with intimate interactions along the way.

Master Classes: Learn to prepare the selected dishes of award-winning international celebrity chefs, then sit down with your classmates and savour them at a leisurely lunch. Hands-on sushimaking anyone?

Cake and Ice Cream Social: Bring the whole family to this late afternoon dessert social on the Great Lawn, where world-class pastry chefs will indulge every one of your sweet teeth.

Tasting Events: Under the stars, walk around to sample delicious bites and beverages at stands located throughout Paradise Harbor during the primetime themed evening events (think tacos and tequila). Join culinary stars at cooking demos and enjoy live entertainment including authentic Bahamian cultural celebrations and music’s biggest names, the likes of Shaggy. Talent and musical performances to be announced this fall.

Special packages include all-access passes, wine dinner passes (three events) and early entry passes for the evening tasting events.

Anguilla Culinary Experience - May

The Anguilla Culinary Experience (aka ACE), Anguilla’s fifth annual epicurean festival, will be held May 13 to 17, 2026. During ACE’s five flavourful days, Anguilla’s fresh seafood and native ingredients are showcased.

In addition to delicious eats and participating in fun events, your attendance makes a positive difference. Part of the proceeds of the non-profit ACE funds education and programming for the competitive Anguilla National Culinary Team and the island’s next generation of culinary professionals. Also, during ACE, students and young chefs assist and learn from experienced local and guest chefs.

Here are the events you can take part in (more may be confirmed later):

Moke Tour & Rum Crawl: Led by Quest Experiences’ guides, travel around the island in a chauffeured candy-colored Moke (openair vehicle) to four beach bars in search of the island’s best rum punch. This event always sells out.

Johnny Cake-Making: Get your hands in the dough and learn how to make this humble Caribbean staple — a baked dough with a crispy outside and a soft, airy center,

especially mouthwatering when the batch comes fresh out of the South Hill Community’s traditional outdoor coal oven.

Beach BBQ + Chef Basket Battle: ACE ends with a beach barbecue where local master grillers serve fall-off-the-bone brisket and ribs, gourmet sliders and more. Feast, dance, decorate a chef’s hat or apron (for kids) and watch the Anguilla National Culinary Team cook in a timed Chef Basket Battle. Contestants may only use ingredients from a provided pantry, plus mystery basket items native to the island, such as herbs, fruit or seafood, that are revealed at the start. Chefs score the entries and one audience member is selected via raffle to also taste the entries.

Grenada Chocolate Festival - May

The Spice Isle is also the Sweet Isle thanks to Grenada’s prolific production of cocoa beans, the key ingredient in chocolate. Dive into Grenadian cocoa and chocolate culture during the 13th annual Grenada Chocolate Festival, May 22–27, 2026.

(Website: www.grenadachocolatefest.com

The website is currently under maintenance but will be back up later.)

As the Caribbean’s only tree-to-bar chocolate fest, it celebrates the farmers who practice sustainable organic farming and the skilled chocolatiers who are passionate about their craft and eager to share their knowledge.

The festival offers themed events tailored to different interests, all of which will tantalize your tastebuds and enrich your understanding of chocolate:

Cocoa Farm Tours: Explore organic cocoa plantations on a guided tour with a farmer eager to share their knowledge of cocoa cultivation and harvesting.

Chocolate Factory Tours: See firsthand how cocoa is transformed into artisanal chocolate at one of the six companies producing organic chocolate.

Chocolate-making Workshops: Make your own tree to bar chocolate, from harvesting cocoa pods to crafting delectable bars.

Chocolate Tastings: Savour diverse chocolates, each reflecting the unique flavours of Grenadian cacao.

Culinary Delights: Indulge in chocolate-infused cuisine, showcasing cocoa in both sweet and savoury dishes.

Workshops and Masterclasses: Participate in expertled sessions covering topics from the health benefits of dark chocolate to the art of chocolate pairing.

Rum and Chocolate Pairing Events: Sample and learn about the synergy between Grenada’s finest rums and hand-crafted chocolates.

Family Day: Shop the creations of local artisans and participate in chocolate-themed activities, like bonbon making and painting for the kids.

Cultural Experiences: Immerse yourself in Grenada’s rich heritage through music, dance, art exhibitions and storytelling that highlights the island’s deep connection to cocoa.

Get Ready to Fete.

It’s Carnival Time!

Like a child waiting for Santa, I can’t sleep. Even though it’s past midnight and the last chance for 48 hours to give my middle-aged body any semblance of rest, I’m too excited. I lay, ears cocked in the dark hotel room, expecting soon to hear a ruckus from the street proclaiming this special day has begun.

Tick tock. The silence stretches on.

At last, it is time. Springing from bed and donning a cheap white T-shirt and shorts, I meet my group and head onto the downtown streets, which, for the next two days, will be transformed into a hedonistic adult playground.

For islanders and flocks of tourists alike, it’s carnival time at last, the frenetic climax to the bacchanal season in swing already for a couple of months. On every Caribbean isle, “carne vale” – Latin for “farewell to flesh” – is the fete (party) of the year, regardless of what month it is held (carnivals pepper the Caribbean event calendar from New Year’s Day through to the Christmas season).

The tradition dates to the late 1700s when French sugar plantation owners in Trinidad and Tobago introduced elaborate pre-Lenten masquerade balls, which the enslaved Africans were banned from participating in. Today, although there are differences between island carnivals, every one reflects the historical roots and meaning of the celebration.

It’s the season when the spirit of each multiracial island erupts, enveloping all who partake. For most grown-ups, the two days of carnival are a once-a-year or once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to let down their cares and feel their inhibitions melt. Just like children at Christmas, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the excitement.

Out in the tropical night, we encounter only a few, quiet people, like sleepwalkers in the wee hours. Like them, my posse (group) and I furtively slip from the road into the bright lights of a J’ouvert camp.

Here we are greeted by fellow revellers, all dressed in white: shirts, pants, shorts, skirts; some ripped into strips like rags. Most have tied scarves on their heads to protect their hair. Led into a lively bar, a stiff rum and Coke, the wake-up libation of choice, is shoved into my hand. It is just after 3 a.m.

Out in the yard, thumping Carnival tunes yank the last vestiges of tiredness from our bodies. Our hips, unbidden, begin to gyrate or “wine”, as they say in the Caribbean.

Handed squeeze bottles of yellow, blue, red and green body paint, we gleefully squirt our neighbors until they are white no more. Like kids, we slap colourful handprints on shirts and bottoms; some landing in strategic locations.

Out on the street, our amplifier-laden flatbed music truck pulls up. It’s almost time to go. But, before we do, there’s one finishing touch. Revellers swarm to pots of smooth warm mud, enthusiastically rubbing it onto faces and already coloured body parts.

This is an elemental, age-old part of carnival, I learn. It goes back to the early days when freed Trinidadian slaves, unable to afford glitzy masquerade costumes, donned their worst clothes and slathered themselves in mud.

Not pretty by any means, our motley crew is ready to take to the road. Grasping a plastic drinking cup and bottles of paint to adorn spectators, we file in behind our music truck booming local soca hits.

It is 4 a.m. Carnival Monday. At last it’s J’ouvert (ju vay, a contraction of the French words ‘jour ouvert’, meaning ‘day begun’), the official opening of carnival, which kicks off two days of street parades.

Masses take to the roads jumping, dancing and shouting. Some, like I, join J’ouvert bands (parading masquerade bands), while others join the throngs of downtown spectators. Devilish traditional carnival characters sporting pointed tails and pitchforks emerge to enact the darker side.

As night fades, I’m “gettin’ on bad” (behaving with wild abandon) like I’ve been doing this all my life. Incited by this year’s popular road march songs, I jump, I chip (dance) and I wave. Surrendering to excitement and revelry, I don’t care what people think.

Immersed in the fun release it provides, I discover that a lack of sleep is not an issue. Two days later I’m still going strong. It’s Carnival Tuesday – the big day – and the ‘pretty mas’ is underway.

“Put something in the air!” commands the lead singer from his stage atop the bed of a boom box truck, inching its way through the crowded streets. Like members of a cult, I — and hundreds around me — obey, jumping up, eagerly thrusting our flags (a piece of cloth, a bandana or a hand) toward the midday sun, which is not the only thing heating up the isle. I am thrilled to be “playing mas” (participating).

“The winin’ must never stop inside of the mas’,” I belt out. The lyrics to this, and every popular road march, are ingrained in my brain like mantras. “This is car-na-val!”

Far from blessed with a model’s figure, I cannot believe I am parading past thousands of spectators wearing little more than tights and a rainbow bikini. Jewels, gold braid, sequins and chains of beads, as well as calf and wrist bands, a necklace and a sheer multi-colored cape draped down my back have transformed it from a mere swimming into a masquerade costume. The crowning glory is a headpiece that looks like the sails of a big and a small boat anchored amidst 16 half-metre-long spiral stakes.

Identically-clad, we are one section of our mas’ band. Like the other big bands, some several thousand strong, we are divided into about 20 sections, each attired differently to bring to life the band designer’s theme. As we pass several judging stations on our two-day road march, we are energetically vying for the Band of the Year title.

“Carnival is a celebration of life and of each other,” a fellow reveller, her arm draped over my shoulders, enthusiastically explains. And, like life, it is not fully experienced from the sidelines.

Although carnival is not for the faint of party-heart, it grants childhood abandon and induces excitement the way waiting for Santa once did.
