Acts 4 NLT 23 As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and elders had said. 24When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: 30 Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of Don K. Wiehe your holy servant Jesus.” District Sectretary/ 31 After this prayer, the meeting place Truesurer shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness. We’ve all heard the phrase “second wind” when used in sports as an athlete runs the race, begins to weary, begins to slow down but then receives a “second wind” to continue the race with power. 1.a person's ability to breathe freely during exercise, after having been out of breath: "he seemed to falter halfway through the race before finding his second wind" Powered by Oxford Dictionaries Wikipedia Second wind is a phenomenon in distance running, such as marathons or road running (as well as other sports), whereby an athlete who is out of breath and too tired to continue suddenly finds the strength to press on at top performance with less exertion. The feeling may be similar to that of a "runner's high", the most obvious difference being that the runner's high occurs after the race is over.[1] Some scientists believe the second wind to be a result of the body finding the proper balance of oxygen to counteract the buildup of lactic acid in the muscles. As followers of Jesus, the Lord knew that we would get tired, weary and discouraged because of the onslaught of the enemy. The Lord knew that we would need a fresh touch of the Holy Spirit’s wind on an ongoing basis. The early followers of Jesus were under severe persecution. They had seen their Lord persecuted and crucified. They had all forsaken the Lord. Jesus then rose from the grave and He showed Himself alive to them for 40 days. He told them to wait in Jerusalem to receive power

from on high and in fact the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them and they received power to become His witnesses and receive power to die for Him. They saw thousands of people repent of their sins and receive salvation. Salvation, water baptisms, miracles and baptisms in the Holy Spirit were the norm but persecution continued to intensify as the enemy was endeavoring to quieten the church. When they were discouraged the early church met together to pray and the Lord filled them (re-filled them) with the power of the Holy Spirit. This was the second wind. The first wind blew through their lives on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) and the second wind took place a few days later (Acts 4). The Lord knew that we would get discouraged and we would need a re-filling of the Holy Spirit to give us the strength and courage to continue on - no matter what we are facing. It might be time for you to receive a second wind so you can move forward with life and ministry. Be filled with the Holy Spirit! Be re-filled with the Holy Spirit! Paul refers to this as “Stirring up the gift”. Let the coals of the gift within you be stirred into a flame once again. 2 Timothy 1:6 & 7 NLT 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. How do we receive a second wind? How do we stir up the gift into a flame once again? *Meet together with other believers *Pray *Worship *Spend time in the Word and with the Word *Ask the Lord for boldness to continue on! *Be careful who you listen to! *Repeat He will re-fill you! He will turn your darkness to light! He will fill you with courage to stand against the enemy and will give you boldness to stand for Him. Receive your second wind! You are loved and appreciated! Your Fellow Servant, Pastor Don

An 85-year-old woman came up to me recently and handed me a bag of peanuts in a small white bag and said, “These are from my wedding!” I graciously took the peanuts, and leaned over to my wife and asked her, “How long have they been married?” The pandemic skewed time for all of us, and many of us had plenty of time to reflect upon our ministry, purpose and calling, and reconfirm some things with God. This is the case for my wife April and I, in which God reconfirmed our passion for marriage ministries, and the spirit spoke to me and said, “Get ready.” Recently, my wife and I had a Zoom call with our District Pastor Tim Barker, and I shared with him my calling to marriage ministry and our desire to serve this District and he said to me, “This is the perfect timing for a new marriage ministry, because God impressed upon me when I first arrived at the District Office that we were to serve as a resource for church health and ministry development.” Brother Barker challenged us to meet the marriage and family needs in our churches by facilitating for the health, growth and development of our STXAG ministers and ministries. We are excited to announce a new department in the South Texas District called Healthy Marriages. It is our desire to provide the district with three exciting new resources to enrich marriages and facilitate for family health. The first new resource is called N.A.M.E. or National Association of Marriage Enhancement that was developed through Phoenix First Assembly. This fantastic training program has been used throughout the nation by Assembly of God churches as a wonderful tool to develop marriage mentoring or marriage coaches. Married couples are approved by their local Assembly of God Pastor and then apply to enter a training course. After completing the training, they receive a certificate as Certified Marriage Specialists. Multiple formats will be provided for the training including sessions at the District Office, remotely via Zoom/Livestream and then local regional training hubs. Establishing marriage coaches in our local assemblies will become a tremendous resource that will bless our churches and lead pastors!

Secondly, we are thrilled to announce three regional marriage conferences in San Antonio, Houston, and the Rio Grande Valley. These conferences will be affordable and provide anointed speakers, along with crisis counselors that will be available on-site, as well as breakout sessions and roundtable discussions promoting relevant, modern resources for every Christian family situation. Finally, we will be establishing a new Healthy Marriages resource office to address multiple family needs in our modern world including marriage enrichment, single moms, blended families, divorce care, singles and widows. An orientation for those interested in joining the N.A.M.E. ministry or being involved in our district marriage ministries is scheduled for Thursday evening, July 14th at the STX District Office and it will include a roundtable discussion panel with our Superintendent Tim and Jill Barker, and Pastors Robert and April Jones. For those who are interested, following the orientation meeting we will launch us into a six week training program through the months of July and August to certify marriage specialists. To sign up for the N.A.M.E. Marriage Mentoring Orientation, please feel free to contact us at: Robert and April Jones 530.919.9250 robertjoneslgt@gmail.com

Over 30 years ago, I began to have major back issues. As most people do, I just suffered with it, taking pain medication, and using ice and heat. Yes, I would pray that God would heal my back and many others prayed as well. The last few years the pain and frequency of the pain became worse. In January 2022 I saw an orthopedic specialist that diagnosed me with having degenerative disc disease between L2, L3, L4 and L5 vertebrae and ordered an MRI and CT scan of my back to decide the proper treatment and/or surgery. February 25 a dear sister in the Lord came to my home and as we were talking, I had a sharp pain go through my back. IMMEDIATELY, she rose up and began to pray for me. Praying in the Spirit and in the understanding. INSTANTLY the pain stopped and I have been pain free ever since! I was encouraged to go ahead and have the MRI and CT scan. On March 7 I met with the doctor, and he showed me the x-ray from January that confirmed there were no discs present. Then he showed me the MRI and CT scan that showed 3 perfectly formed discs in my lower back where there weren’t any! The doctor said he just didn’t understand how that was possible. My response was, “well I do! Jesus performed a creative miracle in my back!” Three things I have learned: One, don’t get discouraged and stop praying if the answer doesn’t come after the first prayer. I prayed for over 30 years for God to heal my back. His Word says in 1 Peter 2:24 (The Passion Translation “TPT”), “Our instant healing flowed from his wounding”. The Greek word for “healing” (iaomai) clearly refers to physical healing and is used as a medical term to describe curing the physical body. Second, God’s faithfulness. 2 Timothy 2:13, TPT, “But even if we are faithless, he will still be full of faith for HE NEVER WAVERS in His faithfulness to us!”. Third, your circle of friends matter. In Mark 2, When Jesus saw the extent of the paralyzed man’s FRIENDS faith, Jesus healed him. I am so thankful my friend didn’t hesitate! She had faith that God would heal my back and He did!

We had a wonderful Church Planting celebration at our District Council 2022. We celebrated the new churches from the past year. Our Superintendent Tim Barker cast a vision to see 200 churches planted in the next 10 years. Five Church Planters shared encouraging words about church planting in the "Less than 3 Session". Finally, John Van Pay challenged us with a powerful message to respond as Planters and Multipliers. Later that evening we collected an offering specifically for Church Planting. If you were not able to participate in the offering, we want to give you the opportunity to seed money to assist the planting of 200 new churches in South Texas over the next 10 years. You can give at this link: https://www.stxag.org/give The name of the account is: CP-DC Church Planting Inc.

Going forward we want to provide growth opportunities for Church Planters. If you would like to attend a Church Planting Roundtable, please reach out to the Church Planting Facilitator Kendall Reavis at kkreavis@yahoo.com. Next Spring, March 6-8, the CMN Conference will be held in Houston. This is a great opportunity to hear what is going on nationally in Church Planting, to be encouraged and challenged by phenomenal speakers and breakout sessions. Please keep praying and preparing to multiply. God bless you South Texas. Kendall Reavis Church Planting Facilitator kkreavis@yahoo.com 832-449-0900

Once again Judy and I wish to convey our deep appreciation for the privilege of serving our STXAGM Seniors as well as the joy of serving alongside the District Department heads and Executives. We do have a great Team! Coming out of Covid feels like it’s a re-start of the Seniors With Purpose ministry. But we have not been inactive and are excited about the remaining months of 2022 and the full slate of ministry activities scheduled for 2023. Our SWP Leadership Team continues to meet via Zoom. Also, we continue to do our weekly Facebook Live Singalongs on Tuesdays. We have now sung 3000 plus songs in the 26 months of doing them. We do want to do more from local churches with Seniors Groups participating. If your Seniors would like to host one of the Singalongs, please lets us know and we will certainly make that happen! It is a lot of fun and certainly has purpose! Our 2022 Senior Summit, “Find Us Faithful”, was an absolute home run! Our speakers, three 40-year-old ministers, Dr. Dolly Thomas, Johnny Hauck and Jon, (we cannot use his last name in print due to international travel to sensitive countries) were so right down our Seniors alley! Our musical guests, The Sisters, were, in my estimation, the best we have had. And the SAGU Harvesters ministered in two of our services. Our worship leaders, Greg and Rebecka Caylor were also fabulous at leading us in worship.

There are four remaining SWP events for 2022. All of them are “Close to Home”, local events, with the exception of the National SAM Conference in Branson, MO, September 8-10. Judy and I would love to meet you there! The 2023 calendar is as full as we dare make it. Finding the balance of providing meaningful and enjoyable large events and the need for our Seniors to be loyal, faithful, supportive and involved in their Local Churches is an important balance to negotiate! Here is a peek at next year! 2023 Projected Dates are: February 10 - East Regional Event March 11 - West Regional Event- Palmetto State Park April 3-5 - Senior Summit- Kerrville May 24-26 - SWP Fishing Trip- Port Mansfield May 29 - SWP Fish Fry- San Antonio June 10 - Close-to-Home Concert- Neches Valley/Beaumont July 15 - Close-to-Home Concert- Houston August 29-30 - Fall SWP two-day Getaway- Corpus Christi November 9 - SWP West Thanksgiving Banquet November 16 - SWP West Thanksgiving Banquet What we do as a District ministry is not as important as your involvement in your own Local Church. We see is a responsibility to provide Senior appropriate ministry and events that will be supportive to our South Texas churches. No Coasting to the Finish Line! Sincerely in Christ, R Wayne and Judy Clark Seniors With Purpose STXAGM Ps. Join us for our weekly SWP Singalong on the “Seniors With Purpose” Facebook page at 2:00 PM every Tuesday!
