social narrative

I am going to The Venue at 75 North for a movement workshop with Omnium Circus. When I’m walking inside, there may be traffic from the nearby street, which may be loud. I can wear headphones or earplugs to help with the noise.

I can park in the parking lot in front of the building and walk up to the main entrance.

There may be other people arriving at the same time as I do, who are excited to meet the artists and spend time moving around.

When I enter The Venue. I will see an elevator, that I will take up to the workshop level. There will be signage to help guide me to the right space.

When I arrive, I will see a welcome table to check in at and can ask the staff questions about finding a quiet space or getting a sensory kit to use for the night.

I know if I requested ASL or another access resource for the event I can ask the staff at this table for assistance.

The presentation space is a big open room. There may be some tables or chairs where I can put my stuff. I can also find a spot on the floor alongside the wall to keep my stuff safe while we are moving during the workshop.

The roof is made of tin, and when the wind blows it may cause some noise in the space.

Voices and music may also echo or get loud in the space during the workshop time. I know I am free to be myself and do what I need to do to best experience the event.

I know if I become overstimulated, I can ask someone to show me to a sensory break space or check out a sensory kit. The indoor break space is up the stairs in the main space and overlooks the workshop.

So, I can still see what’s happening if I need to remove myself from the action for a bit.

If I need access to a resource not listed in this sensory guide, I can contact ticketomaha@o-pa.org and they will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodation. If it is within the 2 weeks of the event, I can still request a specific service but there is no guarantee they will be able to provide it.
