KEEPING NAPA COUNTY HEALTHY SINCE 1972

Since its founding by farmworker advocates and care offered by volunteer doctors in a room above La Luna Market in Rutherford, OLE Health has been guided by one core principle: everyone deserves quality healthcare. Over the past six decades, OLE Health has made dramatic advances in how healthcare is delivered to the most vulnerable and those most likely to otherwise not have access to care. Today, at five health centers from Calistoga to American Canyon and with an active Mobile Medicine Team, nearly 40,000 residents of Napa County rely on OLE Health for primary and dental care, behavioral health services, optometry, nutrition and pharmacy services.

• More than 150,000 patient visits in 2024

• One in three children living in Napa County

• Only fully bilingual outpatient services provider in Napa County

• 80% of patients have an annual household income of less than $53,000

• Over 4,000 farmworkers and their family members receive care

• 90% quality and patient satisfaction scores

WELCOME

Welcome to Vida OLE! On behalf of the OLE Health Foundation board of directors, we are pleased to have you join us for our annual celebration of health and community.

Being here tonight marks a very special occasion. It was during this exact week amidst the harvest of 1972, when — just down the road from where we gather together tonight — the first migrant farmworker was welcomed by a volunteer doctor to Clinica O.L.L.E. That day was the culmination of vintners, farmworker advocates and caring medical professionals working side by side to usher in a new vision for healthcare in Napa Valley. A vision that was rooted in the belief that healthcare is a human right and that for our community to be its best, we needed to ensure that everyone who lives and works here can live their happiest and healthiest lives.

It is this promise that OLE Health has remained committed to delivering on for the past 53 years. And it is with the same spirit of community that over those decades the organization has become a cornerstone of Napa Valley — today it is one of the largest providers of primary care services offering medical, dental and behavioral health care for nearly 40,000 residents. And as the options for primary care services become more scarce, and as the challenges facing an ever increasingly complex healthcare system mount, the need for community health centers has never been greater.

Tonight, we come together with one purpose: to continue the work we started a year ago to kick off our campaign for a new Up Valley Health Center. You helped us realize that a decade-long dream was possible and, tonight, we hope that possibility becomes a reality. Every dollar raised will go toward reaching our goal of providing our Up Valley communities with a much needed and long overdue beautiful new place to call their medical home. One with all the state-of-the-art equipment and technology yet with the same warm, personable and compassionate care for which OLE Health is known.

We encourage you to raise your paddles high and often.

Most importantly, however, we would like to express our gratitude for your generosity and support that have changed the lives of so many of our friends and neighbors.

Sincerely,

John Shafer Visionary Award

The John Shafer Visionary Award is presented to individuals and organizations whose leadership, generosity and foresight exemplify the very essence of vision — seeing not only what is, but what is possible. Named in honor of the late John Shafer, a founding supporter of OLE Health and a man who believed deeply in community, this award recognizes those whose commitment helps ensure a healthier future for all.

This year, we are proud to honor Trinchero Family Estates with the John Shafer Visionary Award in recognition of their extraordinary generosity and significant support of OLE Health. As one of Napa Valley’s most storied and respected wine families, Trinchero has long demonstrated the values of stewardship and community care. Their investment in OLE Health reflects a powerful belief that access to quality, compassionate healthcare is critical to the overall health and well-being of the community.

“It is a tremendous honor to accept the John Shafer Visionary Award on behalf of the Trinchero family,” said Robert Torres, Principal, Vice Chairman and Director of Trinchero Family Estates. “Our roots run deep in this community, and we are proud to support the OLE Health Foundation and their unwavering commitment to ensuring everyone who lives and works in this incredible Valley has access to the healthcare they deserve."

The Trinchero family has donated nearly $3 million to support OLE Health in increasing access to healthcare in Napa Valley, including $2 million in funding from Louis and Evalyn Trinchero and Trinchero Family Estates for the Napa Valley Vintners South Napa Campus, and sizable support when the North Napa Campus was built. Most recently, they pledged an additional $1 million to help fund the new CommuniCare+OLE Up Valley Campus in Calistoga.

Through their support, Trinchero Family Estates has strengthened OLE Health’s ability to serve thousands of patients across Napa Valley and beyond — families, workers, children and seniors who rely on us for essential care. Their visionary philanthropy extends far beyond dollars; it represents an enduring commitment to the well-being of the community that has been the heart of their family and their business for generations.

The John Shafer Visionary Award was officially presented at the Vida OLE! Visionaries Lunch on September 18, 2025, hosted by Burgess Cellars. The invitation-only event acknowledges those who have provided significant support to OLE Health through its 50+ year history and serves as the official kickoff of Vida OLE! This is the third annual award. Past honorees include vintner Rick Jones and the Napa Valley Vintners.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Betty is a FORCE. I admire her energy, her advocacy, her fearlessness and willingness to always ask the hard questions and say out loud what is on everyone else’s mind. I am grateful to know her, learn from her and have the gift of being in her orbit!

Corazón Award

BETTY LABASTIDA

The support and dedication of our Napa Valley community and its members have been the driving force behind OLE Health from its very first days as a one-room all-volunteer clinic. This year, the OLE Health Foundation is pleased to introduce the Corazón Award, which recognizes an individual whose service and dedication embody a spirit of compassion, generosity and a steadfast belief in the power of community.

We are proud to recognize former OLE Health nurse practitioner, longtime operating board member, tireless volunteer and patient Betty Labastida as the inaugural recipient of the Corazón Award. Betty’s decades-long journey with OLE Health is defined by her unwavering devotion to our mission and her extraordinary ability to bring people together to make a positive impact on the lives we touch every day.

Betty is driven by a simple yet powerful philosophy imparted by her father: “You don’t get where you are by yourself; people help you along the way.” This credo led to Betty earning a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and a Master’s Degree in health services before spending 20 years in the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service. When she moved to Napa from Hong Kong, she found her way to OLE, where she served as a Family Nurse Practitioner for 12 years. Today she is the consummate volunteer, having served on the Operating Board for a decade and giving countless hours volunteering whenever and wherever she is needed, including running the monthly Fruits & Veggies distribution at the North Napa Campus. She also serves on the Napa County Commission on Aging, UC Master Gardeners of Napa County and Napa Valley Together, assisting applicants with gaining their U.S. citizenship.

Betty is a champion, an advocate and her smile lights up every room. Whether through her leadership, her generosity, or her quiet acts of kindness, Betty consistently exemplifies what it means to put community first and she inspires everyone around her.

Betty is transformative. Everything she does is with intention and creates meaningful and lasting change in the lives of others. I can only hope to one day embody the same spirit and generosity, compassion and dedication that she lives by.

– Mauriana Faison, Community Outreach Manager

Betty is extraordinary with an endless enthusiasm for selfless acts. She is a pioneer, a role model and a legacy in the making.

– Dr. Jennifer Wilson Medical Director of Quality Improvement

Fund a Need Help Give Healthy a New Up Valley Address

CHALLENGES IN OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM are often in the news — sometimes with stories from far away and sometimes those that hit closer to home. Today we find ourselves with a critical need right here in our backyard. Our Up Valley communities are facing a significant shortage of primary care options and this impacts everyone, young and old, workers and business owners, those with financial means and those without.

At the OLE Health Foundation, we are committed to ensuring that everyone in Napa County has access to high-quality healthcare, regardless of income, insurance status, or circumstance in life. For more than five decades, OLE Health has been a trusted provider of comprehensive, compassionate care for thousands of families, farmworkers and other essential workers, seniors and children who depend on us for their well-being.

Now, we have the opportunity to transform healthcare access for our Up Valley communities with the construction of a state-of-the-art, 11,000-square-foot health center in Calistoga. With 60% of all Up Valley residents relying on CommuniCare+OLE for primary care, this new facility will replace our small, outdated space and allow us to:

• More than double access to primary care services for pediatric and adult patients

• Quadruple dental service availability, ensuring more families receive critical oral healthcare

• Address a growing need for mental health support by making available an additional 3,000 behavioral health visits annually

”IT IS REALLY URGENT because we don’t know who is being left out of medical care.”
— Cynthia Trevino-Jimenez Up Valley Health Center Manager

The 2016 dazzles with plush notes of wild blueberries, potpourri and dark chocolate wrapped in velvety yet vibrant tannins — earning near-perfect scores from critics. The 2018 is an ethereal masterpiece, awarded 100 points by James Suckling for its floral lift and radiant purity, while Wine Advocate praised its layers of black raspberries, anise and lavender. The rarefied 2021 rated 100 points by Master of Wine Lisa Perroti Brown remains largely unseen, a wine of myth and promise awaiting its unveiling.

The highlight of your journey awaits at Carnivale di Firenze, where you and your friends will attend the legendary Gran Ballo di Carnevale, a masquerade ball held in a resplendent palace once frequented by the Medici. Once inside you’ll be swept away into a pageant of music, dance and opulence that recalls the grandeur of Florence at its Renaissance. You’ll also attend the colorful and festive Carnevale Parade in the City’s old town.

In Florence, you’ll also experience today’s modern opulence and craftsmanship with a private shopper who will design a bespoke experience that will drape you in centuries-old craftsmanship in fashion, leather, jewelry and silk.

Back in the Tuscan countryside, you’ll be welcomed by Marchesi Antinori to their Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery where six centuries of tradition and modern innovation blend perfectly. Here you’ll embark on a wine tasting adventure that showcases the family’s passion for producing wine and culminates with lunch for eight at the winery’s rooftop terrace restaurant Rinuccio 1180.

This is Tuscany at its most authentic and exclusive — where history, glamour and modern luxury meet in unforgettable harmony.

Designed for eight guests. Trip dates are January 29 – February 5, 2026. Carnevale di Firenze Masquerade Ball on January 31, 2026. Carnevale Parade on February 1, 2026. Antinori experience on February 3, 2026. Donors: Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi, Marchesi Antinori, OLE Health Foundation
