Helping with the Everyday

Becoming a part of the Legend by supporting a Cheyenne Institution that’s rooted in the “Daddy of ‘Em All,” Cheyenne Frontier Days™. We provide the story of our western legacy to over 20,000 guests a year.

Founded in 1978 by a dedicated group of Cheyenne Fronteir Days™ volunteers and community members, the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve and share the heritage of the American West as experienced through the celebration of Cheyenne Frontier Days™.

Our mission is made possible through donors like you, and without you, we wouldn’t be able to preserve our artifacts, keep our lights on, or hold our annual events. Your support also helps us share and celebrate Western culture and heritage with our community and future generations.

We take pride in our institution, and our Museum partners make a difference every single day.

Create meaningful partnerships while you support:

Our Collections and Exhibits, which draw locals and tourists alike to our institution.

Our Western Art Shows, which showcase local, national, and international Western Artists twice a year!

Our Arts & Educational Programs, which create learning environments for all ages, whether it’s art classes, lectures, or children’s summer camps!

Sponsorships Event

The events you sponsor matter; show off your name next to an event that reflects your brand!

Our Nationally-Recognized Art Exhibitions feature the best-of-the-best when it comes to Western Art. You have two opportunities to sponsor an art show:

The Western Spirit Art Show and Sale during the spring, features up-and-coming artists as well as established names in the western art world. The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Western Art Show and Sale in the Summer is our largest exhibition with established worldclass western artists, featuring their recent works of art. With over 800 attendees on opening night alone, and over 8,000 visitors during the week of Cheyenne Frontier Days™, sponsors have the opportunity to be aligned with a show that has been a marquee event for over 45 years.

On top of art exhibitions, we host the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, recognizing inductees who helped CFD to grow into “The Daddy of ‘em All” through their distinctive contributions.

Coming Fall 2026 will be our signature event, the Black Hat Gala. This event will be a spin off of the Museum’s previous fundraiser, the Carriage Ball. It will include high-end auction items as well as a five-star meal.

Events for Everyone

From the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to one of the top Western Art Shows in the nation, there are plenty of opportunites to support events that align with your audience, values, and brand.

Spring Event Western Spirit Art Show

Each summer the Museum hosts two CowKid Camps: Western Art Camp and either Cowkid Camp and Pioneer Camp, alternating each year.

Western Art Camp introduces young artists to different artistic styles through hands-on projects, culminating in a student art show to showcase their work.

Cowkid and Pioneer Camps are more outdoors-focused, offering activities like archery, roping, gold panning, butter making, and bee husbandry. Campers enjoy demonstrations from herding dogs, Mountain Men, and other special guests, as well as creative projects with 3D pens and field trips that bring Western heritage to life.

Create Your Own

Wild West Trunk or Treat is an established community event which includes the community in many different ways. This involves organizations - most of which are nonprofits - dressing up and decorating their vehicles and joining us in our parking lot to hand out candy to the Trick or Treaters. We also have teen volunteers from a variety of groups helping out. On average, there are over 2,000 people in attendance. These events have become extremely popular nationally over the past few years because parents can take their children to celebrate Halloween in one location that is bright, festive and safe. It is held on the last Saturday prior to Halloween in the afternoon. Associated General Contractors has joined us in hosting this wonderful event and the children enjoying the heavy equipment that they bring. Wild West Trunk or Treat runs every year, rain or shine, because we can move it inside the Museum, if necessary.

Sponsorships Volunteer Programming

The heart and soul of the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum are our volunteers. They are what keep the Museum running! Our volunteers manage the front desk, assist with collections, and generously donate their time, resources, and talents to further the Museum’s mission. Some volunteers have served for as long as 20 years! Many have a strong connection to Cheyenne Frontier Days, whether as rodeo cowboys or through involvement with one of the many CFD committees.

We rely on our volunteers to help operate our art shows, Family Day, Hall of Fame, and much more. We are very grateful to our amazing volunteers!

The Heart of the Museum

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Museum, bringing history and Western traditions to life with their time, talents, and passion. Their dedication touches every corner of the Museum, ensuring that our stories and spirit endure for generations to come.

Volunteer Programming

At the Old West Museum, we celebrate our volunteers in every way we can. In 2025, we sponsored a volunteer field trip to the University of Wyoming Planetarium, giving them a chance to learn, explore, and enjoy a day together outside the Museum. We have also hosted a volunteer breakfast, a “Goodbye Summer” BBQ, and our annual Christmas party, all designed to recognize their hard work and dedication. Our volunteers make a lasting impact on the Museum in countless ways, from assisting with daily operations to supporting special events and programs. Our front desk is even fully ran by volunteers! We are committed to continuing to expand our volunteer program as a way to honor, thank, and celebrate the incredible contributions of these dedicated individuals.
