10 - Embedding the sRGB Color Profile Into All the Files in the Originals Folder of an iPhoto Library with Expression Media. This work flow involves using the demo version (28 days) of Expression Media (EM) to catalog the entire Originals folder in your iPhoto Library folder and embed the sRGB color profile into every Original file with little or no change in file size. 1 - Download and install Expression Media. 2 - Launch EM. 3 - In the Finder locate the Originals folder in your User/Pictures/iPhoto Library folder and drag it into EM open window. 4 - After the import in complete select all of the photos in the catalog window and go to the Action->Manage Color Profiles...

5 - That will bring up the Batch Profiles window. Select sRGB in the RGB: menu and click on OK.

It will take a while to complete the process. In some cases there may be a decrease in file size. Converting 285 files with the Canon Camera profile resulted in a decrease of 56 KB overall. The original embedded profile will determine whether there will be an increase or decrease in file size. Using the Embed sRGB Profile I created and have available for download in Toad’s Cellar will reduce the file size by about 20%. Although I’ve not noticed any obvious quality degradation in the image quality you may not want to go that route. That’s why I’ve posted this method. I've also posted an Applescript version, "Embed sRGB Profile-Applescript" that is a lossless process. The Applescript method takes about 5 seconds per file whereas the Automator method takes about 1 second.
