Dear Spring Island Member,

We are excited to introduce the 2025-2026 Tournament Book to the membership. We look forward to the upcoming season which will include updated tournaments and golf programs for the whole membership to enjoy.

This year’s Tournament Book includes the complete 2025-2026 schedule and entry forms for the “major” tournaments along with information on Twilight Events. Each “click here” tab is hyperlinked to the corresponding tournament’s registration page.

As a reminder, all 2025-2026 tournament registrations will be available on the Club’s website via the Golf Genius Event Portals.

Posting Scores

USGA Handicap Guidelines must always be observed when posting your score.

Please note:

1. Post ALL scores (As of 2019, scores may not be posted during rounds that you are playing alone) on the day of play.

2. Adjust any hole score downward when it is higher than the maximum number of strokes you are allowed to post (Net Double Bogey Maximum).

3. If you start, but do not complete a hole, post for handicap purposes the score you most likely would have made. (This may not be the maximum for that hole.)

4. If you do not play a hole, post a score which is the sum of par plus the strokes you would get on that hole.

5. If you play 10 or more holes, post a score for the 18-holes using the above guideline to determine your score. Players must play all 9-holes in order to post a 9-hole score.

Tournament Cancellation Policy

Starting this tournament season, we will be implementing a cancellation policy for all our multiday tournaments, and others as noted in the Tournament Programs. This includes, but is not limited to: Men’s Chaffin Cup, Women’s Chaffin Cup, Men’s Member-Guest, and Women’s Member-Guest.

For events that reach maximum capacity, once we are within a 45-day window of the tournament date, all registered participants will have their account billed 50% of the entry fee. In the event you need to cancel, your account will be credited only if your place can be filled. Special exceptions can be made by the Tournament Committee on a case-by-case basis.

We appreciate your understanding, and a member of the Professional Staff is happy to answer any questions you may have.

Member/Staff Outing

Wednesday, September 17th 9-Holes | Four-Person Team

Members team up with a Spring Island staff member to compete in a fun 9-hole scramble.

Due to the nature of this event, all players are requested to use a riding cart.

Wednesday, September 17th 3:00pm – Shotgun Start at Old Tabby Links Format: Scramble Cookout following golf

Half the field will play on the Front Nine while the other half of the field plays the Back Nine. We will have a chip-off amongst the winners on each nine to determine our overall champion.

Maximum of 48 members are eligible to play in the Shotgun. Cookout is open to all Members and employees.

Men’s Chaffin Cup

Friday & Saturday, October 24th-25th 36-Holes | Annual Member-Member

2024 Champions: Tim Bernard & Bob Stewart

Join us for our annual member-member event at Old Tabby Links! As is custom, the event will be 36-holes played over two days using four different nine-hole formats. Teams will be arranged into 8 flights based on combined handicap indexes. Each flight winner will qualify for the playoff to determine the Overall Champion. The playoff will be a true alternate shot format using Hole #18 as a Par 3. This event is a partner event, and you may make your own team or be paired by the Professional Staff. This event is open to the first 48 teams. There is a maximum of a 10stroke difference between the partners handicap indexes. Partners with more than a 10- stroke difference will have the higher of the two indexes reduced to reflect the 10- stroke differential limit.

Founder’s Cup

This event is open to all male and female golfing members with established USGA handicaps. This event is 18-holes and is a 2- person team event. Teams must consist of one male and one female member. You may create your own team or be paired by the Professional Staff.

Join us for our annual Thanksgiving Scramble to kick-off your Thanksgiving Day! This event is open to all Members & Guests. An official USGA handicap is suggested to participate in the event.

If you are interested in playing on Thanksgiving, even if you do not wish to participate in the Scramble, please join us for this 10:00am Shotgun.

Palmer Cup East-WestChallenge

Sunday & Monday, December 7th-8th 2024/25 Champion: West

Join us for the 2025/26 Palmer Cup to see if the East side or the West side of the Island will be the new reigning champions!

Captains from each side of the Island will choose their teams and pick who they will be playing against. The evening will start with cocktails and appetizers and be followed by a buffet dinner.

Two members from the East Team will compete against two members of the West Team in a Scramble, Match Play format.

Handicap indexes as of Thursday, December 4th will be used for this event.

Entry Fee: $95 per player including: tee gift, Sunday & Monday receptions, and lunch before play.

Non-participating spouses and friends are welcome to attend the dinners for an additional cost.

3-Club Challenge

Thursday, December 18th

9-Holes | Individual 2024 Champions: Meredith Stines & Jean Woodworth-Sorem

Due to the nature of this event, all players are requested to use a riding cart.

Family Members & Social Members are not eligible for this event.

This event is open to all male and female golfing members with established USGA handicaps. Play will be distributed into three divisions: Women’s Gold/Lime Combo Tee, Men’s White Tees, and Men’s Green Tees.

Women’s Overall Champion will be the player with the lowest net score. Men’s Overall Champion will be determined by a chip-off between the White & Green Tee Division Winners.

Thursday, December 18th

FORMAT: Individual Stroke Play (Front Nine)

Join us for the third annual “Offspring” Parent-Child event at Old Tabby Links! The event will consist of 18-Holes of Chapman format between either a Parent and Child, or a Grandparent and Grandchild. Don’t have an Offspring? You may “adopt” one for the day from a fellow member!

All participants must have a USGA Handicap to be eligible to play.

Join us for a full day of competition! The annual TENGO tournament features Tennis in the morning and Golf in the afternoon. Teams will be arranged by Larry Angus.

The Golf format will be a two-person team scramble starting with a 2:30pm Shotgun. Men & Women of all skill levels are welcome to join.

There is no entry fee associated with this event for SITA members.

‘25/’26 Twilight Golf Schedule

**New format this season**

Due to some wonderful feedback over the past two seasons, we are making an adjustment to our Twilight Golf schedules to accommodate two renditions of a Nine & Dine throughout the calendar year.

Join us for a 9-hole scramble, where pairings are created by the Golf Shop, and stay for dinner at the Golf House immediately following play.
