None can sense more deeply than you artists, ingenious creators of beauty that you are, something of the pathos with which God at the dawn of creation looked upon the work of his hands. A glimmer of that feeling has shone so often in your eyes when – like the artists of every age – captivated by the hidden power of sounds and words, colours and shapes, you have admired the work of your inspiration, sensing in it some echo of the mystery of creation with which God, the sole creator of all things, has wished in some way to associate you.

That is why it seems to me that there are no better words than the text of Genesis with which to begin my Letter to you, to whom I feel closely linked by experiences reaching far back in time and which have indelibly marked my life. In writing this Letter, I intend to follow the path of the fruitful dialogue between the Church and artists which has gone on unbroken through two thousand years of history, and which still, at the threshold of the Third Millennium, offers rich promise for the future.

Nikt nie potrafi zrozumieć lepiej niż wy, artyści, genialni twórcy piękna, czym był ów pathos, z jakim Bóg u świtu stworzenia przyglądał się dziełu swoich rąk. Nieskończenie wiele razy odblask tamtego doznania pojawiał się w waszych oczach, artyści wszystkich czasów, gdy zdumieni tajemną mocą dźwięków i słów, kolorów i form, podziwialiście dzieła swego talentu, dostrzegając w nich jakby cień owego misterium stworzenia, w którym Bóg, jedyny Stwórca wszystkich rzeczy, zechciał niejako dać wam udział.

Dlatego właśnie uznałem, że te słowa z Księgi Rodzaju będą najwłaściwszym rozpoczęciem mojego listu do was. Czuję się z wami związany doświadczeniami z odległej przeszłości, które pozostawiły niezatarty ślad w moim życiu. Tym listem pragnę włączyć się w nurt owocnego dialogu Kościoła z artystami, który w ciągu dwóch tysięcy lat historii nigdy nie został przerwany, a na progu trzeciego tysiąclecia nadal ma przed sobą rozległe perspektywy.

Szanowni Państwo!

Wystawę „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II przygotowało Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych „U Jaksy”, samorządowa instytucja kultury Gminy Miechów. Ekspozycja ma długą i ciekawą historię, albowiem zaprezentowana została już w 11 różnych miastach Polski oraz we Włoszech. Po raz pierwszy, udostępniona została do zwiedzania w podziemiach Kopalni „Wieliczka”, a w czasie beatyfikacji Jana Pawła II wystawę można było oglądać we Włoszech w bardzo starym i zabytkowym mieście Acuto, położonym wysoko w górach nieopodal szlaku, który przemierzał Jan Paweł II. Rok 2013 przybliża nas do kanonizacji Wielkiego Małopolanina z Wadowic, który jeszcze jako Karol Wojtyła wielokrotnie odwiedzał miechowską bazylikę. W kontekście przyszłorocznego wydarzenia wystawa nabiera szczególnego znaczenia, a jej długa wędrówka rozpoczyna się w Muzeum Archidiecezjalnym Kardynała Karola Wojtyły u podnóża Wawelu. Drugą edycję wystawy wzbogaciło wiele nowych dzieł, albowiem włączyli się do niej nowi artyści, tworząc razem bardzo silną grupę osób, reprezentujących dziesięć krajów: Polskę, Austrię, Słowację, Ukrainę, Litwę, Rosję, Finlandię, Francję, Włochy i Kurdystan. Powodem do dumy dla naszego miasta jest fakt, że to właśnie Miechów stał się ośrodkiem grupującym tak liczną rzeszę profesjonalnych artystów, różnych ośrodków kulturowych i tak barwnych twórczych postaw. To właśnie za przyczyną Ich pobytu w Miechowie, na międzynarodowych plenerach zrealizowana została wystawa zadedykowana Janowi Pawłowi II.

Doceniam fakt, że Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Małopolskiego przyznał środki finansowe dla Miechowa na wydanie katalogu do wystawy „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II. Okolicznościowe wydawnictwo wspierać będzie wystawę w kolejnych regionach Polski, a także za granicą. Już dziś planowane są jej kolejne ekspozycje, m.in. w Galerii „Zielona 13” w Łodzi, w Centrum Kultury im. Jana Pawła II w Brzesku, w Galerii „Jatki” w Nowym Targu oraz w Galerii Trockiego Parku Narodowego na Litwie.

Serdecznie zachęcam do zapoznania się z wystawą i towarzyszącym jej albumem. Niech będzie to wyraz naszego hołdu dla wielkiego Polaka z Małopolski, który był i jest największym autorytetem przełomu wieków oraz pozostał w naszych sercach najpiękniejszym wzorcem do naśladowania, tak potrzebnym w czasach, w których komputeryzacja i technizacja niszczy społeczne wartości i więzi międzyludzkie.

Respectable Ladies and Gentlemen,

The exhibition “Colours of Lesser Poland” for John Paul II has been prepared by the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy”, a cultural institution of the local self-governmental authorities of the commune of Miechów. This exhibition has a long and interesting history, and the reason for that fact is that it has already been presented in 11 different cities of Poland, and also in Italy. For the first time ever, it was made available to public for the purpose of visiting on the underground premises of the Salt Mine “Wieliczka”. At the time of the beatification of John Paul II, it was possible to visit the exhibition in Italy, in a very old and monumental city of Acuto, situated at a high altitude in the mountains near the tourist trail compassed by John Paul II.

The year 2013 brings us closer to the canonization of the Great Man of Lesser Poland from Wadowice, who, while he was still simply Karol Wojtyła, visited the basilica in Miechów several times. In the context of the event which is set to take place next year, this exhibition acquires a particular significance, and the long peregrination of it will commence at the Archdiocesan Museum of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, at the footsteps of Wawel. Currently, the exhibition has been enriched by numerous new works of art, and the reason for that fact is that new artists have contributed their works to it, creating together a very strong group of sixty people representing ten countries: Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia, Finland, France, Italy and Kurdistan.

The reason for our town to feel proud is the fact that it is no other town, but Miechów, that has become a centre joining together such a large number of professional artists, various centres of culture and such colourful artistic attitudes. It was thanks to their stay in Miechów, and nothing else, that the exhibition dedicated to John Paul II was prepared in the course of international painting outdoor events.

I appreciate the fact that the Marshall Office of the Voivodeship of Lesser Poland allocated financial means for Miechów to cover the publication expenses of the catalogue of exhibition bearing the name “Colours of Lesser Poland” for John Paul II. This commemorative publication will support the exhibition in the other regions of Poland, and also in foreign countries. It is already today that the following presentations of it are being planned. These are to take place, among others, at Green 13 Gallery in Łódź, at the John Paul II Center of Culture in Brzesko, at “Jatki” Art Gallery in Nowy Targ, and also at the Gallery of the Trakai Historical National Park in Lithuania.

Feel cordially encouraged to make oneself acquainted with the exhibition and the album accompanying it. May it be the expression of our homage to the great Pole of Lesser Poland, who was, and is, the greatest authority of the turn of the centuries, and has remained in our hearts as an ideal which is worth studying and following.

Please, receive my most cordial welcome at the vernissage which is dedicated by us to the Holy Father John Paul II, as it might be said, at the eve of his canonization. Most cordially, I would like to welcome Father Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, who ever since, with insignificant exceptions, has been present here to open our exhibitions at the Museum bearing the name of Father Cardinal Karol Wojtyła. I welcome respectable mitred prelates, prelates and the professors of the Academy of Fine Arts. I welcome all the authors of this exhibition, and also Mrs Krystyna Olchawa, the director of the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy” in Miechów, who is the curator of it. I welcome the provost of Miechów, Father Mirosław Kaczmarczyk, the Mayor of Miechów, Dariusz Marczewski, the Vice-Chairman of the Main Authority of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, Ryszard Kowalewski, who arrived here from Gdańsk. At certain moment during this event of today, we will see the artist, namely the actor, Krzysztof Górecki, reading out the fragments of John Paul II‛s “Letter to Artists”. Most cordially, I would like to welcome you the regular visitors of our vernissages, who, by means of your presence here, create sui generis family together with us. I would call this family an artistic one because we are all united by the shared experienced of art.

This exhibition is an exceptional one, and, as I have mentioned earlier, devoted to the Holy Father John Paul II. One may do much wonder that, in spite of the passage of time since the Holy Father wrote his “Letter to Artists”, this text still remains a particular source of inspiration for artists, who, by means of their works of art, respond to the Holy Father, re-

flecting in their works the contents in this magnificent letter of profound wisdom. And this exhibition is the aftermath of this process. Its Director, Mrs Krystyna Olchawa, organizes international outdoor events in Miechów. She is very active, and has been organizing exhibitions for several decades already.

She invites artists from entire Poland, but not only from here, since at our exhibition we can see the works of artists from Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, Austria, Finland, France, Italy and Kurdistan. All these paintings have in common one appellation: Oh, Holy John Paul II. It is so because this exhibition, although perhaps not as much in a direct manner, as rather in the indirect one, draws upon the creative activity of Karol Wojtyła, to the letter of the Holy Father John Paul II. This exhibition has the right be here, because for 17 years this building, which is currently hosting the Museum, was a flat and home of Father Karol Wojtyła, and afterwards remained his when he was a bishop and a cardinal, until the end of the year 1967.

For that very reason, as Father Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz usually says, the presence of the Spirit of the Holy Father can be sensed here. It is really so. We are very happy that the exhibition dedicated to the Holy Father John Paul II is held at this very building, that we can meet with such a numerous group of artists who have arrived at this vernissage, and that for the period of a month this exhibition will remain in our building.

Bardzo serdecznie witam na wernisażu, który dedykujemy Ojcu Świętemu Janowi Pawłowi II, możemy powiedzieć w przeddzień kanonizacji. Bardzo serdecznie witam księdza kardynała, który zawsze, z małymi wyjątkami, jest i otwiera nasze wystawy. Bo przecież Muzeum nazwane jest imieniem księdza kardynała Karola Wojtyły.

Witam zacnych infułatów, prałatów, profesorów Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, a zwłaszcza panią Krystynę Olchawę – dyrektor BWA „U Jaksy” w Miechowie, która jest kuratorem tej wystawy. Witam prepozyta miechowskiego, ks. Mirosława Kaczmarczyka, burmistrza Miechowa Dariusza Marczewskiego, wiceprezesa Związku Polskich Artystów Plastyków Ryszarda Kowalewskiego, który przybył do nas z Gdańska. W pewnym momencie ukaże nam się artysta, aktor – Krzysztof Górecki, który przeczyta fragmenty listu Ojca Świętego do artystów. Witam najserdeczniej Was – Państwo, którzy regularnie przybywacie na nasze wernisaże i w ten sposób tworzymy już pewną rodzinę. Nazwałbym ją artystyczną, bo łączy nas na wspólne przeżywanie sztuki.

Ta wystawa jest wystawą wyjątkową, jak wspomniałem, dedykowaną Ojcu Świętemu Janowi Pawłowi II. Bierze aż dziw, że od czasu kiedy Ojciec Święty napisał „List do artystów”, ten list stał się szczególną inspiracją artystów, którzy to chcą przez swoje prace odpowiedzieć Ojcu Świętemu na treści zawarte w tym bardzo wspania-

łym i głębokim liście. I ta wystawa jest tego pokłosiem.

Pani dyrektor Krystyna Olchawa organizuje międzynarodowe plenery w Miechowie. Jest bardzo aktywna, od kilkudziesięciu już lat urządza wystawy. Zaprasza artystów z całej Polski, ale nie tylko. Bowiem tutaj na naszej wystawie mamy dzieła artystów z Litwy, Ukrainy, Rosji, z Niemiec i Austrii, z Finlandii, Francji, Włoch i Kurdystanu. Wszystkie te obrazy łączy jedno wspólne zawołanie: „Święty Janie Pawle II”. Bo właściwie ta wystawa, może w sposób nie tyle bezpośredni co pośredni, jest nawiązaniem do spełnionej misji, Jego twórczości, do listu Ojca Świętego Jana Pawła II. A że jest w tym miejscu... Taka wystawa ma prawo być tutaj. Przez 17 lat ten budynek, w którym obecnie mieści się Muzeum, był mieszkaniem, domem dla księdza Karola Wojtyły, a następnie biskupa i kardynała, aż do końca 1967 roku.

Dlatego, jak to ksiądz kardynał zwykł mówić, tu czuć Ducha Świętego. Rzeczywiście tak jest. In a matter of fact, it was the Holy Father that opened this exhibition by having his “Letter to Artists” read out by an actor. Only an active artist, sensitive to beauty, could write a letter like the one which was written by John Paul II. After all, he was a great artist himself. One can say that this letter is his spiritual last will, as it is said about his last will in “Roman Triptych”: Meditations. Letter to Artists is his last written message, addressed to artists already at the end of his life. In it, he left a deep expression of his thought, which should be re-visited ever and ever again.

Właściwie to Ojciec Święty otworzył tę wystawę poprzez odczytany przez aktora „List do artystów”. Tylko człowiek tworzący, wrażliwy na piękno mógł napisać taki list, jaki napisał Jan Paweł II. Wszak sam był wielkim artystą.

Można powiedzieć, że jest to Jego testament duchowy, tak jak się mówi o testamencie w „Tryptyku rzymskim”.

Ten list jest jego ostatnim napisanym słowem, skierowanym do artystów już u kresu Jego życia. Pozostawił w nim głębię myśli, do których trzeba ciągle powracać.

This exhibition enchants. The very fact that it is being participated by sixty artists, including sixteen from foreign countries, best proves its value. I think that the reception of each and every of the guests who are here today will be an extraordinary experience in which we will be joining the beloved Holy Father, John Paul II. I myself had this pleasure to be at Castel Gandolfo, where the flag which we had carried up to the tops of two mountains, the height of each exceeds seven thousand meters, never before reached by any man, was handed over by us to our Holy Father. I was touched by the finger of the hand of God, about which I tell my friends. I am convinced that everyone who creates art of any kind experiences positive emotions, is characterized by creative inspiration and power to contribute to the creation of something that is beautiful and noble. I wish to congratulate Krystyna Olchawa and all the artists who have joined this initiative on such an excellent look of this exhibition. I wish to express my gratitude to the director of the Museum, Father Andrzej Józef Nowobilski, and, more than to anyone else, to His Eminence Father Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, who has undertaken the honorary patronage of this exhibition. This initiative is very beautiful, and the entire project has been implemented in a very beautiful and skillful manner since beginning to the end. We need more exhibitions of this kind because we can present them everywhere, and be proud of it.

Wystawa zachwyca. Sam fakt, że bierze w niej udział prawie sześćdziesięciu artystów, świadczy o niej najlepiej.

Myślę, że odbiór każdego z przybyłych dziś gości będzie niezwykłym przeżyciem, w którym będziemy łączyć się z ukochanym Ojcem Świętym Janem Pawłem II. Miałem tę przyjemność w życiu, że byłem w Castel Gandolfo, gdzie flagę, którą wynieśliśmy na dwa dziewicze siedmiotysięczniki, osobiście wręczyłem naszemu Ojcu Świętemu. Mnie dotknął palec Boży, o czym opowiadam moim przyjaciołom. Jestem przekonany, że wszyscy, którzy coś tworzą, mają w sobie pozytywne emocje, twórczą wenę i siły, żeby przyczyniać się do powstawania czegoś, co jest piękne i szlachetne. Ja tylko mogę pogratulować Krystynie Olchawie i wszystkim artystom, którzy przyłączyli się do tej inicjatywy, że ta wystawa wygląda tak znakomicie. Także dyrektorowi Muzeum Diecezjalnemu w Krakowie, księdzu Andrzejowi Józefowi Nowobilskiemu, a na pierwszym miejscu Jego Eminencji księdzu kardynałowi Stanisławowi Dziwiszowi, który przewodniczy jej otwarciu. Ta inicjatywa jest od początku do końca bardzo pięknie i sprawnie przeprowadzona. Tego typu wystaw powinno być więcej, bo można pokazać ją wszędzie. Można się nią szczycić.

Jan Paweł II „List do artystów”, 4.04.1999 Takie słowa skierował do artystów Ojciec Święty, podkreślając ich ogromną rolę w budowaniu pomostu pomiędzy kulturą a Kościołem. „Każda autentyczna inspiracja artystyczna” – pisał – która ma źródło w głębi duszy ludzkiej, wykracza poza zmysłowe poznanie świata, każda autentyczna forma sztuki otwiera drogę dostępu do głębszej rzeczywistości człowieka i świata, a tym samym „wprowadza w perspektywę wiary, w której ludzkie doświadczenie znajduje najpełniejszą interpretację”.

Wystawa „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II stanowi zbiorowy wyraz duchowości ożywionej szczególną atmosferą artystycznego skupienia, jakie towarzyszy od lat plenerom miechowskim organizowanym przez Krystynę Olchawę i prowadzoną przez nią Galerię „U Jaksy”. Swoje artystyczne dzieło dedykuje pamięci Ojca Świętego 57 artystów pochodzących z dziesięciu krajów, o korzeniach czerpiących nie tylko z kultury europejskiej. Podjęli oni w ten sposób słowa sformułowane do artystów na II Soborze Watykańskim, iż „Świat, w którym żyjemy, potrzebuje piękna, aby nie pogrążyć się w rozpaczy”. W dziełach powstałych na plenerach miechowskich brzmi nadal echo romantyzmu, tradycja polskiej sztuki przepojonej duchowością i mistycyzmem. Jeden z wielkich polskich malarzy napisał na początku zeszłego stulecia: „Patrzeć to widzieć, widzieć to wiedzieć, wiedzieć to miłować. (...) Człowiek, gdy miłuje, jest artystą, bo sztuka jest niczym innym jak wielkim odbiciem, formą umiłowania. Jak mówił Norwid – kształtem Miłości” (F. Ruszczyc).

Na te same słowa Norwida powołał się o stulecie później Ojciec Święty pisząc, iż: „Piękno jest bowiem poniekąd widzialnością dobra, tak jak dobro jest metafizycznym warunkiem piękna”.

Ale w tym kontekście rodzi się jeszcze jedno bardzo ważne stwierdzenie dotyczące „etyki czy wręcz duchowości” służby artystycznej, która ma swój udział „w odrodzeniu każdego narodu”.

Czy zatem ośmielimy się powiedzieć, że sztuka, która wyrosła z pól i świątyń miechowskiej ziemi, ma również wymiar odrodzeńczy i patriotyczny (choć słowo to powoli wymyka się z naszych słowników)?

Tak, służy ona podtrzymywaniu narodowej tożsamości, często bez patetyzmu i martyrologii, ale poprzez cichy szept, którym mówimy o „duszy tej ziemi”.

Snując refleksję wokół wystawy dedykowanej Ojcu Świętemu, możemy wysnuć z niej, jak ze zwartej osnowy, kilka wyrazistych intencji i znaczeń.

METAFIZYKA CZYSTEGO PEJZAŻU Jan Paweł II napisał, że im bardziej artysta „uświadamia sobie swój dar, tym bardziej skłonny jest patrzeć na samego siebie i na całe stworzenie oczyma zdolnymi do kontemplacji i do wdzięczności, wznosząc do Boga hymn uwielbienia”.

Tego właśnie szczególnego aktu kontemplacji oraz wdzięczności artysta nie musi wyrażać poprzez posługiwanie się czytelnymi symbolami religijnymi, zastępując je głęboką wyrazowością natury czystej, odczutej jako sfera wypełniona obecnością Boga.

Rozległe pejzaże Stanisława Chomiczewskiego i Miro Buchera rozkładają się pasami pól w kadrze obrazu. Pofalowany krajobraz Buchera, spięty jest wznoszącą się ku horyzontowi wstęgą obsadzonej drzewami miedzy, która jak ciemna szczelina rozdziela złociste łany. Po niej krok pielgrzyma lub myśl samotna zdąża ku granicy ziemskiego doświadczenia. Na obrazie Chomiczewskiego, błotnista droga wśród zrudziałych łąk wznosząca się ku górom obleczonym w późnojesienne kolory, znajduje odblask światła w skłębionych obłokach, które formują białe zarysy tatrzańskich szczytów. To krajobrazy jakby

wydobyte spod stóp Ojca Świętego, szlaki przez niego z miłością przemierzane i spowite nieustanną tęsknotą do niedostępnych turni (gdzie już nic więcej nie istnieje, jedynie namacalna bliskość transcendencji).

Tatrzański święty szczyt maluje Ryszard Kowalewski w swoim zimowym widoku na Giewont. Niejednokrotnie Jan Paweł II przywoływał moc opiekuńczą stojącego na szczycie krzyża, który uświęca życie narodu i jest dla niego opoką. „Ten krzyż tam trwa i stoi” – mówił Jan Paweł II – „Jest niemym, ale wymownym świadkiem naszych czasów”. Giewont – Śpiący Druid – mogiła rycerzy, którzy gotowi są przebudzić się w obronie ojczyzny, jest wyrazem metafizyki Tatr i ich niezwykłej roli w obronie polskiej tożsamości. To tam, gdzie miały zostać ukryte groby narodowych wieszczów, tam myśl człowieka nieomal namacalnie zbliża się do Boga, poprzez symbolikę wznoszenia się ku górze, jakby ku bramom niebios. W obrębie tej kategorii znaczeń znajduje się również obraz Małgorzaty Monety ze spowitą we mgle bryłą białej świątyni, która jak opoka, jak skała tkwi w pejzażu poza czasem i miejscem. ŚWIĘTA SYLWETA W PEJZAŻU Zanurzając się w plener, w krajobraz, szukając punktów, w których myśl nasza odczytać może immanentną bliskość Boga, nie sposób pominąć święte znamiona naszej ziemi – przydrożne krzyże, figury, kościoły.

Anna Kruszec-Wróbel przystaje w pejzażu przed takim właśnie znakiem obecności Boga – czy to krzyżem, czy krzyżem i zarazem mogiłą, którą spowija biało-czerwony całun naszej pamięci.

Stanisław Batruch zatrzymuje się w ogrodzie miechowskiej Bazyliki Grobu Bożego, by spojrzeć na wyróżniającą się bielą, wyrzeźbioną z pietyzmem postać Maryi. Figura Madonny spina łagodnie kompozycję niewielkiej przestrzeni dynamicznie zapisanej na płótnie. Tu odnajdujemy jedną z odpowiedzi na pytanie tak często stawiane przez artystę o duchowy wymiar ludzkiego bytu. Tu następuje odrzucenie egzystencjalnej trwogi, tu py-

tanie „czy jesteśmy skazani na wolność” grzęźnie w gardle w obliczu samonasuwającej się odpowiedzi.

Litewska artystka Živilė Jasutytė maluje bramę, która rozchyla swoje podwoje, tworząc szczelinę światła zachęcającą do postąpienia ku jasności i zarazem ku tej mistycznej tajemnicy, której u wejścia błogosławi zamknięta w kruchej owalnej sferze Madonna z dzieciątkiem na ręku.

Przywołajmy ponownie słowa Ojca Świętego wypowiedziane do artystów: „Każda autentyczna forma sztuki jest swoistą drogą dostępu do głębszej rzeczywistości człowieka i świata. Tym samym stanowi też bardzo trafne wprowadzenie w perspektywę wiary, w której ludzkie doświadczenie znajduje najpełniejszą interpretację”.

Na tryptyku Eugeniusza Molskiego, Chrystus i anioły, wyrastające z barw pejzażu, trzymają w rękach wizerunki świątyń, sprawując nad nimi odwieczną opiekę. Dopełnia się tu myśl platońska przywołana przez papieża, iż „Potęga dobra schroniła się w naturze Piękna”.

Otoczona łaską świątynia miechowska jest wielokrotnie malowana przez Marka Hołdę, jako strażniczka naszej ziemi i naszej wiary. Również rozległy pejzaż Krystyny Olchawy, z kościołem pośrodku polnej przestrzeni, naznaczony jest smugą mistycznego światła.

OPOWIEŚĆ O CZŁOWIEKU Z pięknej, głębokiej i mądrej wystawy złożonej w hołdzie Janowi Pawłowi II wysnuwa się przede wszystkim wątek, na który nanizana jest malarska opowieść o człowieku, o jego życiu i przechodzeniu do wieczności, o jego ziemskiej posłudze i nadziei zbawienia. Porażającym w swej czystości jest obraz Stanisława Baja z cyklu „Portret Matki”, a zatytułowany „Modlitwa”, będący osobistym wizerunkiem – pożegnaniem z osobą mu najbliższą, a zarazem zapisem momentu przechodzenia do wieczności w blasku głębokiego zawierzenia. Jan Paweł II napisał wiersz będący pełnym miłości wspomnieniem jego matki:

„Nad Twoją białą mogiłą, od lat tylu już zamkniętą, spokój krąży z dziwną siłą, siłą jak śmierć – niepojętą”.

Totus Tuus – „Jestem cały Twój i wszystko co moje do Ciebie należy. Przyjmuję Ciebie całym sobą. Daj mi swoje serce. Maryjo”. – to słowa z „Traktatu o prawdziwym nabożeństwie do Najświętszej Maryi Panny” św. Ludwika de Montfort. Jan Paweł II kilkakrotnie przywoływał ten akt oddania w swoim „Testamencie”, pisząc: „W tych samych rękach matczynych zostawiam wszystko i Wszystkich, z którymi związało mnie moje życie i moje powołanie”. Na obrazie Izabeli Delekty-Wicińskiej Ojciec Święty przechodzi do wieczności przytulony do serca Maryi, objęty Jej miłościwymi ramionami niosącymi obietnicę niebiańskiego spokoju. I nad tym obrazem możemy raz jeszcze powtórzyć słowa wiersza: „spokój krąży z dziwną siłą, / siłą jak śmierć – niepojętą”.

Niezwykle mocnym portretem Ojca Świętego jest obraz Krzysztofa Kolarza, kontrastujący realistycznie potraktowaną twarzą ze smugą bieli, w jaką, w malarskim obrazowaniu, przemienia się jego szata. Biel, która w aspekcie czysto plastycznym, wprowadza światło do obrazu, w wymiarze liturgicznym jest symbolem prawdy ewangelicznej, czystości i chwały, a w wymiarze eschatologicznym – symbolem zmartwychwstania. W zestawieniu z bielą, twarz Ojca Świętego ma na sobie odciśnięte piętno przebytej już ziemskiej wędrówki i trudu pasterskiej posługi. „Białe słońce” Alberto Spazianiego, syntetycznym językiem form mówi również o trudzie codzienności, rozłożonym na wszystkich tych, których Bóg powołał do świętości.

WIECZNY PIELGRZYM „Idź, sprzedaj wszystko, co masz, i rozdaj ubogim, a będziesz miał skarb w niebie. Potem przyjdź i chodź za Mną”. (Mk 10, 21) Na obrazie Janusza Lewandowskiego, przez spopielały ugór, pod czaszą zszarzałego nieboskłonu podąża ku jasności pielgrzymia postać naznaczona plamą czerwieni. Na pierwszym planie leży opuszczo-

ne gniazdo, nad horyzontem niebo rozwiera świetliste podwoje. Stajemy w obliczu doświadczenia przenikniętego bojaźnią i melancholią, gdzie mamy odnaleźć jego sens – w determinizmie ludzkiej egzystencji czy w nadziei na zmartwychwstanie?

W pozie pielgrzyma, niosącego z pokorą krzyż, przedstawił Jana Pawła II rzeźbiarz Wincenty Kućma, jak w wielkopiątkowej drodze krzyżowej w Koloseum, coraz słabszego i coraz bardziej przygniecionego ciężarem krzyża. Pasterza – pielgrzyma „zdruzgotanego za nasze winy”.

Wpatrzone w światło, przystanęły w drodze dwie spowite w żałobne kiry postaci, na obrazie kurdyjskiego malarza Shukra Saeeda. Ich pielgrzymowanie jest równocześnie ucieczką przed bólem i prześladowaniami, krzyż ich cierpienia domaga się naszej modlitwy. Obraz ten emanuje bólem pozostałym po eksterminacyjnych działaniach wobec ludności kurdyjskiej. Poprzez uczestnictwo Saeeda w plenerach miechowskich, dramat cierpiącego narodu kurdyjskiego stał się dramatem przywołanym również na naszej polskiej ziemi, przez stulecia nasiąkniętej krwią przelewaną w imię wyzwolenia.

Artysta, czerpiąc siłę z naszej duchowości, doświadczenia wiary i historii, stworzył cykl obrazów, które poprzez głęboką wymowę stają się zachętą do wspólnej modlitwy o niepodległy Kurdystan.

Ziemia nasza pokryta jest cała pielgrzymimi śladami. W sanktuariach rozsianych po całym kraju ludzie przez wieki doznawali pocieszenia i daru łaski. Austriacki artysta, Walter Maringer, namalował w Miechowie dużą kompozycję zatytułowaną „Siła wiary” ze zmultiplikowanymi sylwetami pielgrzymów podążającymi do sanktuarium, a równocześnie poprzez zabieg czysto plastyczny, wznoszącymi się ku górze, ku świętości.

Jednak nie tylko zbiorowa modlitwa w świątyni u celu wędrówki, ale nawet sama droga, samo wędrowanie ma w sobie mistyczny wymiar, wtajemnicza nas w nowe „epifanie” piękna. A artysta, jako szczególnie przez Boga naznaczony, wykorzystuje dar patrzenia „na całe stworzenie oczyma zdolnymi do kontemplacji i do wdzięczności”. Czymże bowiem innym, jak nie nowym objawieniem jest

monstrancja utkana z pyłu i kamieni miechowskiej ziemi w kompozycji Antoniego Wróblewskiego? Monstrancja to naczynie liturgiczne służące do przechowywania konsekrowanej hostii będącej uobecnieniem Boga-człowieka. Wykonana zawsze z cennych surowców, a przede wszystkim złota, przybiera formę promienistej glorii. „Monstrancja polna” Wróblewskiego jest wyrazem sakralizacji pyłu ziemi, z którego Bóg powołał człowieka – „w życiu – bowiem – i śmierci do Pana należymy”.

Jest też znaczącym symbolem transcendentnej perspektywy naszego życia.

ECCE HOMO „Jeśli kto chce pójść za Mną, niech się zaprze samego siebie, niech weźmie krzyż swój i niech Mnie naśladuje”. (Mt 16, 24) Obraz Tiziano Torroniego „Zniewolenie” niesie w sobie ogromny niepokój narastający wokół wizerunku człowieka zamkniętego i upośledzonego.

Jego ból istnienia zatrważa, kraty podkreślają separację, biały kaftan odsuwa go od naszego świata, w którym wygodnie żyjemy. Wzniesiona jakby w uśmiechu głowa i zamknięte oczy wskazują na inną przestrzeń jego mentalnej obecności. Rodzi się zatem pytanie, dlaczego taki obraz wpleciony został w plenerowo‑mistyczną wystawę zadedykowaną Ojcu Świętemu? Może to odpowiedź? – Ecce homo – człowiek w całej nędzy udręczenia.

Ubiczowany Chrystus w koronie cierniowej na obrazie Doroty Sak, pozbawiony ludzkiego ciała i czerwieni szat, został przedstawiony jako rozpryśnięta amorficzna struktura. To o Chrystusie po raz pierwszy wypowiedziane zostały słowa Piłata – Ecce homo – o człowieku-Bogu, któremu nie pozostało już nic z udręczonej cielesności, z ciała czekającego na ukrzyżowanie. „Miechowski całun” Stanisława Białogłowicza jest wymownym tryptykiem ze sceną Ukrzyżowania pośrodku. Ten ikoniczny zapis sceny męczeństwa i złożenia do grobu, wyrażony prostym językiem znaków, posiada strukturę malarską utkaną ze szlachetnych zestawień barwnych.

Jakże inna od powszechnie znanych jest „Pieta” Sachy Stawiarskiego wpisana w kolorowy krajobraz wiejskiego sadu, spięta w przestrzeni nieba barwną tęczą, bez cienia grozy i żałobnego smutku. „A Jezus znowu jest w Jej ramionach, jak był w stajence betlejemskiej” – pisał w rozważaniach drogi krzyżowej Jan Paweł II. Rzeczywiście, jest w tym obrazie znacznie więcej z radosnej sceny narodzin niż bólu śmierci. Idylliczny, sielski krajobraz ze spokojnym błękitem nieba, wobec którego stajemy dziwnie zaskoczeni, przenosi finał Męki Pańskiej jak gdyby do Edenu – rajskiego ogrodu. „A zasadziwszy ogród w Eden na wschodzie – czytamy w Księdze Rodzaju – Pan Bóg umieścił tam człowieka. (...) Na rozkaz Pana Boga wyrosły z gleby wszelkie drzewa miłe z wyglądu i smaczny owoc rodzące”. ...NA RZECZ DOBRA WSPÓLNEGO Stając w obliczu całej wystawy, odczuwamy błogosławiony dar dostępu do mistycznego wymiaru pracy artysty. Otwiera się przed nami prawda, iż „sztuka, podobnie jak religia, metafizyka czy mistyka jest oknem ku nieskończoności” (Z. Przesmycki). Ale też widzimy jej społeczny sens, wyrażający się przypominaniem i przywoływaniem wartości podstawowych, takich jak praca, zawierzenie i nadzieja. „Barw Małopolski” nie można zobaczyć jedynie pobieżnie, musimy mieć czas, by wejść w sferę sacrum wykreowaną artystycznym gestem i otworzyć się na jej działanie. Idąc bowiem za słowami Jana Pawła II, musimy uświadomić sobie, że: „W rozległej panoramie kultury każdego narodu artyści mają swoje miejsce. Gdy idąc za głosem natchnienia, tworzą dzieła naprawdę wartościowe i piękne, nie tylko wzbogacają dziedzictwo kulturowe każdego narodu i całej ludzkości, ale pełnią także cenną posługę społeczną na rzecz dobra wspólnego”.

“None can sense more deeply than you artists, ingenious creators of beauty that you are, something of the pathos with which God at the dawn of creation looked upon the work of his hands. A glimmer of that feeling has shone so often in your eyes when – like the artists of every age – captivated by the hidden power of sounds and words, colours and shapes, you have admired the work of your inspiration, sensing in it some echo of the mystery of creation with which God, the sole creator of all things, has wished in some way to associate you.”

John Paul II “Letter to Artists”, 4 April 1999 It is with these words that The Pope addressed artists, emphasizing their immense role in building the bridge between culture and the church. He wrote further that “Every genuine inspiration [which] springs from the depths of the human soul” goes beyond the sense perception, “Every genuine art form [opens] a path to the inmost reality of man and of the world” and thus enters “the realm of faith, which gives human experience its ultimate meaning”.

The exhibition entitled “Barwy Małopolski dla Jana Pawła II” (Colours of Lesser Poland for John Paul II) is a collective expression of spirituality bringing to life the artistic inspiration which has accompanied the plein air sessions held for years in Miechów by Krystyna Olchawa and the U Jaksy Art Exhibition Office she runs. It is to the memory of John Paul II that she dedicates the artistic output of 57 artists, who come from 10 countries and have various cultural backgrounds, not only European. They have thus taken up the message addressed to artists during the Second Vatican Council: “The world in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair.”

In the works painted at Miechów outdoor sessions the echo of Romanticism still resounds, reviving the tradition of Polish art permeated with spirituality and mysticism. One of the great Polish painters wrote in the early 20th century: “To look is to see, to see is to know, to know is to love. … A man who loves is an artist as art is nothing else than a form of love, as Norwid said, a shape of Love” (F. Ruszczyc).

One hundred years later, Pope John Paul II cited Norwid again on the same issue: “In a certain sense, beauty is the visible form of the good, just as the good is the metaphysical condition of beauty.”

But in this context, one more important question arises concerning “an ethic, even a spirituality“ of an artistic service, which contributes “to the life and renewal of a people”.

Do we then dare to say that art that has grown out of fields and churches of the area of Miechów also has the dimension of revival and patriotism (although the latter word slowly leaves our dictionaries)? Yes, it serves the purpose of maintaining national identity, often without solemnity and martyrology, but through a quiet whisper of the “soul of this land”.

Reflecting upon the exhibition dedicated to Pope John Paul II, we can draw from it, like from an open loom, several clear intentions and meanings.

METAPHYSICS OF PURE LANDSCAPE John Paul II wrote that “the artists the more conscious they are of their ‘gift’, are led all the more to see themselves and the whole of creation with eyes able to contemplate and give thanks, and to raise to God a hymn of praise.”

That is why the artist does not have to perform this particular act of contemplation and gratitude by using salient religious symbols, replacing them with profound expressiveness of pure nature, felt to be the sphere filled with the presence of God. The large landscapes by Stanisław Chomiczewski and Miro Bucher depict the mosaic of fields. The undulating landscape of Bucher’s is framed by a long field boundary rising towards the horizon which – like a dark crevice – separates the golden patches of the fields. A pilgrim or possibly a lonely thought follows it towards the boundary of earthly experience. At Chomiczewski’s painting a muddy road rises among reddish meadows towards the mountains adorned with late-autumn colours, encountering reflexes of light in towering clouds, which emphasize the white outlines of Tatra peaks.

These landscapes are as if transferred from under the feet of Pope John Paul II, the routes walked by him, and veiled by constant nostalgia for the inaccessible rocky peaks, where nothing more matters than the tangible closeness of transcendence. In his winter view of Mount Giewont, Ryszard Kowalewski paints the sacred Tatra peak. John Paul II referred many times to the protective power of the cross standing on its top, which sanctifies the life of the nation and is a support for it. During his visit in Zakopane he said: “It is there and remains there still. The Cross is a silent but eloquent witness to our time.” The mountain, seen as the Sleeping Druid or the tomb of the knights who are ready to rise from their slumber in defence of their homeland, is the reflection of the metaphysics of the Tatras and their unusual role in protecting Polish identity. It is there that the graves of national bards were once to be hidden, it is there that the human thought nearly physically comes closer to God, symbolized by ascension as if towards the gates of heaven. This category also comprises the painting by Małgorzata Moneta, depicting a white church shrouded in fog which endures in the landscape like a rock, beyond the space and the time.

SACRED SILHOUETTES IN THE SCENERY Becoming immersed the scenery, looking for spots where our thoughts may read the immanent closeness of God, it is hard to miss the sacred landmarks of our land – road-side crosses, shrines, churches.

Anna Kruszec-Wróbel stops at such a landmark of the presence of God in the scenery, whether it is a cross or a cross on the grave enshrouded by the white and red veil of our memory. Stanisław Batruch stops in the garden of Miechów’s Basilica of the Lord’s Tomb in order to look at the figure of Our Lady, distinctly white, and sculpted with reverence.

Her figure gently frames the composition of the restricted space dynamically marked on the canvas.

Here we can find one of the answers to the question, so often posed by the artist, concerning the spiritual dimension of human existence. The existen-

tial fear is rejected here, and the question whether we are condemned to freedom does not get fully articulated in the face of the self-evidence of the answer.

The Lithuanian artist Živilė Jasutytė paints the gate which opens up to a beam of light, encouraging us to proceed towards the light and at the same time towards the mystery blessed at the entrance by the Madonna with Child locked in her fragile oval.

Let us bring back the words offered to the artists by Pope John Paul II: “Every genuine art form in its own way is a path to the inmost reality of man and of the world. It is therefore a wholly valid approach to the realm of faith, which gives human experience its ultimate meaning.”

On the triptych of Eugeniusz Molski, Christ and the angels grow out of the colourful scenery, holding images of the churches in their hands and exercising perpetual care over them. The thought of Plato, cited by the Pope, that “the power of the Good has taken refuge in the nature of the Beautiful” finds its reflection here. The church of Miechów blessed

by God’s grace has been painted many times by Marek Hołda, depicted as a guardian of the land and the faith. The broad landscape by Krystyna Olchawa, with the church placed inside the space of the fields is also marked by the band of mystical light.

THE HUMAN STORY From the beautiful and profound exhibition in tribute to John Paul II one motive can primarily be drawn of the painted story of a human being, of his life and passage into eternity, of his earthly service and the hope of salvation. The utmost purity is displayed by the painting by Stanisław Baja entitled “A Prayer” from the series “Portrait of the Mother”, which is a very personal portrait, a farewell to the person who is closest to him, and at the same time the record of the moment of her moving into eternity in the glamour of profound confidence. Indeed, John Paul II wrote a poem which is a loving reminiscence of his mother.

„Nad Twoją białą mogiłą, od lat tylu już zamkniętą, spokój krąży z dziwną siłą, siłą jak śmierć – niepojętą.”

[Over your white tomb, closed for so many years, peace circles strangely powerful, unthinkable as death]

“Totus Tuus, I belong to you entirely, and all that I possess is yours. I take you into everything that is mine. Give me your heart Mary” – these are the words from the “Treatise on the True Devotion to the Blassed Virgin Mary”, written by Louis de Montfort.

John Paul II referred to this act of self-sacrifice several times in his Last Will: “In these same motherly hands I leave everything and Everyone with whom my life and my vocation have brought me into contact.” In the painting of Izabela Delekta-Wicińska, the Pope passes into eternity embracing the heart of Our Lady and held by her loving arms which carry the promise of heavenly peace. And looking at this painting we can repeat the words of the poem: “peace circles strangely powerful, unthinkable as death.”

A particularly powerful portrait of Pope John Paul II is the painting by Krzysztof Kolarz, which juxtaposes his realistically rendered face and the white patch which is an artistic image of his robe. The whiteness, which in its purely artistic sense introduces light into the painting, is in the liturgical sense a symbol of Gospel truth, purity and glory, and in the eschatological one is a symbol of resurrection. In contrast with the white, the face of the Pope has imprinted on it the traces of his earthly journey and the toil of his pastoral mission. “The White Sun” by Alberto Spaziani speaks in the synthetic language of form about the toil of everyday life which is spread among all those God has called to be saints.

ETERNAL PILGRIM “Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” (Mk 10, 21) In the painting by Janusz Lewandowski, a figure of the pilgrim marked by the red patch walks under the grey sky across the ashen fallow towards

a bright prospect. An abandoned nest lies in the foreground, and above the horizon the sky opens the gates of light. We face experience, permeated by fear and melancholy, and wonder where to search for its meaning: in the determinism of human existence or in the hope of resurrection?

The sculptor Wincenty Kućma presented John Paul II as a pilgrim who humbly carries the cross, like during the Way of The Cross in the Roman Coliseum on Good Friday, where he became weaker and weaker, yielding more and more to the weight of the cross – the Pilgrim-Shepherd “crushed for our sins”.

In the painting of the Kurdish painter Shukr Saeed, two figures, enshrouded in the black mourning veils, stop on their way, looking into the light. In their pilgrimage they find an escape from pain and persecution. Their suffering demands our prayer. The painting emanates with pain of the extermination undergone by the Kurdish population.

Through the participation of Saeed in the Miechów painting sessions, the drama of the Kurdish nation is revived on the Polish soil which for centuries had been soaked with blood shed in the name of freedom. Drawing his strength from Polish spirituality, our experience of faith and history, the artist has painted a series of images which in their profound appeal are an encouragement to pray together for the free Kurdistan.

Our soil is all covered with traces of pilgrims. In the shrines scattered all over the country, people have long experienced consolation and the gift of grace. The Austrian artist Walter Maringer painted here a large composition entitled the “Power of Faith” where the silhouettes of pilgrims moving towards the shrine have been multiplied and, due to the application of a purely artistic technique, can be perceived as moving upwards, towards sainthood.

But not only the collective prayer in the church at the final destination, but also the road, the pilgrimage itself has a mystical dimension which introduces us to the new “epiphanies” of beauty. And the artist is anointed by God with a special gift of look-

ing at “the whole of creation with eyes able to contemplate and give thanks”. What else is the monstrance in the composition by Antoni Wróblewski, weaved of dust and stones of Miechów soil, if not a new revelation? The monstrance is a liturgical vessel which serves the purpose of storing the consecrated host, which is the embodiment of God and Man. It is always made of precious materials, particularly of gold, and has the form of radiating “glory”. “The Field Monstrance” by Wróblewski is an expression of sacralising the soil and dust from which God has made man – “whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s”. It is also a meaningful symbol of the transcendental perspective of our lives.

ECCE HOMO “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mt 16, 24).

The painting by Tiziano Torroni called “Enslavement” oozes immense anxiety which grows around the image of a closed, handicapped person.

His pain of existence is frightening, the presence of the bars stresses separation, his white vest shifts him away from the world in which we live in comfort. His head raised as if in a smile and the closed eyes point to a different kind of his mental presence. The question then arises why such a painting has been incorporated in the mystical plein-air exhibition devoted to John Paul II. A potential answer is Ecce Homo – the man in the depth of his torments.

The flagellated Christ in the crown of thorns on the painting by Dorota Sak, deprived of the human body, is presented as a splattered amorphic structure. Ecce Homo were the words uttered for the first time by Pontius Pilate referring to Christ, Man and God, who was left with barely anything of his afflicted corporality, the body waiting for crucifixion.

“The Veil of Miechów” by Stanisław Białogowicz is a moving triptych with the Crucifixion scene in the centre. This iconic record of the Martyrdom and Entombment, expressed in a simple language of signs,

has a structure composed of noble juxtapositions of colours.

The “Pieta” by Stanisław Sacha Stawiarski is so different from the ones which are widely known. Placed in the colourful landscape of the country orchard, spatially framed by the rainbow, it is deprived of any sense of dread or funereal sadness. “And Jesus is in her arms again, as he was in the manger of Bethlehem”, wrote John Paul II in his meditation on the Way of the Cross. Indeed in this painting there is more of the joyful scene of birth than the pain of death. Idyllic, pastoral landscape set against the quiet blue of the sky strangely surprises us, as if transferring the final stage of the Passion of the Lord to the Garden of Eden, the garden of Paradise. As the Book of Genesis says: “Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and he placed there the man (...) Out of the ground the Lord God made various trees grow that were delightful to look at and good for food.” …FOR COMMON GOOD The exhibition as a whole gives us the blessed sense of access to the mystical dimension of the artist’s work. We encounter the truth that “art, like religion, metaphysics or mysticism is a window to infinity” (Z. Przesmycki). But we also see its social sense which is expressed by recalling basic values, such as work, trust and hope. It hardly possible to visit the “Colours of Lesser Poland” only superficially, we need to have time to enter the sphere of the sacred created there with an artistic gesture, and open up to its influence. Following the words of John Paul II we must realize that “Within the vast cultural panorama of each nation, artists have their unique place.

Obedient to their inspiration in creating works both worthwhile and beautiful, they not only enrich the cultural heritage of each nation and of all humanity, but they also render an exceptional social service in favour of the common good.”

Stanisław Baj urodził się w Dołhobrodach nad Bugiem, gdzie spędził dzieciństwo i wczesną młodość. Tam też ukończył szkołę podstawową.

Jest absolwentem Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Zamościu. W latach 1978–1982 studiował malarstwo na warszawskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, które ukończył z wyróżnieniem. W 1982 podjął pracę dydaktyczną w macierzystej uczelni. Przeszedł w niej wszystkie szczeble kariery akademickiej, od asystenta do profesora. Przez kilka kadencji był prorektorem ds. dydaktycznych ASP w Warszawie. Pochodzi z chłopskiej rodziny. Inspirują go mieszkańcy Dołhobród oraz nadbużańskie krajobrazy. Od lat 80. skupił się na pejzażu i przedstawieniach portretowych. Pozostaje bezkompromisowo wierny realistycznej konwencji obrazowania, czerpiąc z tradycji malarstwa polskiego. Forma i technika malarska, nawiązująca do klasyków przełomu XIX i XX wieku, nadają jego chłopskim, współczesnym postaciom szlachetnej powagi i ponadczasowości. Brał udział w wielu wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych.

Portrety starych ludzi są dla niego wyzwaniem, w którym realizuje swoją dociekliwość poznawania tajemnicy ludzkich uczuć i losów. Ich zmartwień, obaw, zapracowania i rozmodlenia.

Wszystkie portretowane postaci traktuje z szacunkiem i w poetycki sposób maluje ich twarze.

W dorobku malarskim posiada bardzo interesujący cykl portretów swojej matki, której towarzyszył, dosłownie i w przenośni, zawsze. Również w najtrudniejszych chwilach, w czasie jej odchodzenia i żegnania się z doczesnym światem.

Stanisław Baj was born in Dołhobrody on the River Bug, and he spent his childhood and the period of early youth in this village. It was also there that he completed his primary education. He is a graduate of the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zamość. In the years 1978–1982, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and he graduated with distinction in this major.

In 1982, he commenced his career of a teacher in his Alma Mater. In it, he has climbed up all the ladders of an academic career, commencing with the position of a professor‛s assistant and reaching that of a professor. For several terms, he served as a Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He comes from a family of peasants. The artist finds his inspirations in the inhabitants of Dołhobrody, and also in the landscapes on the River Bug. Since the 1980s, he has been concentrating upon landscape art and portrait paintings. He remains uncompromisingly faithful to the realistic convention of imagery, finding his inspirations in the tradition of Polish painting. The form and painting technique of him, drawing upon the classic painters of the turn of 19th and 20th century, give his presentations of contemporary peasants a noble seriousness and timelessness. He has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions.

For him, the portraits of old people are a challenge, in which his inquisitiveness in the scope of the cognition of the mystery of human fates, their concerns, anxieties, being engrossed in hard work and prayer, is satisfied. All the portrayed silhouettes presented on this portraits are treated by the painter with respect, and he depicts their faces in a poetic manner. His painting output includes a very interesting cycle of the portraits of the mother of the artist mother, whom he accompanied, in the literal and metaphorical meaning of that expression, throughout his entire life, including the most difficult episodes of it, while she was passing away to leave these earthly shores.

Stanisław Batruch urodził się w 1935 roku w Zagórzu. Ukończył Liceum Ogólnokształcące w Sanoku, a następnie Studium Nauczycielskie w Rzeszowie. Studia artystyczne odbył w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie na Wydziale Malarstwa.

Obok pracy twórczej poświęca się także pracy pedagogicznej. Przez wiele lat prowadził Pracownię Malarstwa na Wydziale Grafiki. W 2000 roku został mianowany profesorem zwyczajnym.

Pedagogiczne talenty i wiedza z zakresu sztuki sprawiły, że stał się cenionym autorytetem dla współuczestników sympozjów i malarskich plenerów. Jego malarstwo cechuje różnorodność tematyczna i przywiązanie do dbałości o strukturę malarskiej materii. Malowane przez niego pejzaże zawierają w sobie wartości formalne, takie jak: rytmiczność, gama, harmonia dźwięków malarskich czy kontrasty i podobieństwa. Światło w jego obrazach nie ma walorowego charakteru. Jest rozproszone i jakby wchłonięte przez malowane płaszczyzny malarskich przedmiotów, wyrażone stopniowaniem kontrastów w perspektywie kolorystycznej.

Stanisław Batruch zorganizował ponad 40 wystaw indywidualnych. Jego prace znajdują się w zbiorach muzealnych oraz kolekcjach prywatnych w kraju i za granicą, między innymi: w Austrii, Australii, Francji, Czechach, Słowacji oraz Niemczech, na Węgrzech, w Izraelu i USA. Ważniejsze nagrody: Wyróżnienie na Festiwalu Malarstwa Współczesnego w Szczecinie – 1988, Nagroda Ministra Kultury i Sztuki II Stopnia – 1989, Srebrny Medal i Wyróżnienie na Międzynarodowym Biennale Malarstwa w Koszycach – 1989, prestiżowa nagroda w Celle – Heitland Fundation za rok 1990, Krzyż Kawalerski Polonia Restituta – 2000, Złoty Laur za mistrzostwo w sztuce Fundacji Kultury Polskiej za 2006 rok.

Stanisław Batruch was born in Zagórze in the year 1935. He completed his secondary education at First Secondary School in Sanok, and, in the further course of education, graduated from the Teacher Training College in Rzeszów. He completed his artistic studies at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Apart from artistic work, he also devotes his time and attention to a teaching career. For several years, he was in charge of the Atelier of Painting at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. In the year 2000, he received a nomination for the title of a full professor.

His teaching talents and knowledge in the field of art have made him become an appreciated authority for the fellow participants of symposiums and painting outdoor events. His painting is characterized by diversity in the aspect of subjects and attachment to paying attention to the structure of painting matter.

The landscape art which is created by him contains formal values, such as: rhythmical character, using the array of colours, the harmony of painting sounds, or contrasts and similarities. In his pictures, light does not have the character of a valour. Instead, it is dispersed, and, somehow, absorbed by the painted surfaces of the subjects of his paintings, expressed by means of the graduation of contrasts in the perspective of colours.

Stanisław Batruch has organized more than 40 individual exhibitions. His works can be found in the museum exhibitions and private collections in Poland and in foreign countries, among others, in Austria, Australia, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and also Germany, Hungary, Israel and USA. The major awards won by him include: a distinction at the Festival of Contemporary Painting in Szczecin – 1988, Second Degree Award of the Minister of Culture and Art – 1989, the Silver Medal and Distinction at the International Biennale of Painting in Košice – 1989, a prestigious award of Heitland Foundation for the year 1990 in Celle, the Order of Polonia Restituta (Knight‛s Cross) – 2000, and the Golden Laurel for the championship in art of the Foundation for Polish Culture for the year 2006.

Obecnie jest profesorem nadzwyczajnym Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego oraz Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Zawodowej. Tematyka jego obrazów dzieli się na dwa główne nurty: malarstwo sakralne i pejzaże. Sacrum przenika wszystkie jego obrazy. Nawet te, w których artysta ulega czystemu zachwytowi nad malowanym pejzażem. Jego pokora, przy równoczesnej chęci absolutnego poznania otaczającej go rzeczywistości, pozwala mu na dotykanie istoty stworzenia. Intelektualne rozmyślania, wędrówki po sferach teologicznych rozważań, poznawanie kulturowych obyczajów, wiodą go do tworzenia własnych labiryntów skojarzeń, wartościujących napotykane zjawiska i wątki religijne.

W nastrojowości pejzaży uwidoczniona jest jego pokora oraz podziw dla przyrody, wyrażona starannością i lekkością zgeometryzowanych płaszczyzn pól i drzew, nieba i chmur, a także harmonią kolorystycznych kompozycji. Stanisław Białogłowicz jest również teoretykiem sztuki, publikującym swoje rozważania na łamach literatury artystycznej oraz w katalogach.

Stanisław Białogłowicz was born in Łęki Dukielskie. He studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He graduated in the year 1973, at the atelier of Professor Wacław Taranczewski. Currently, he is an associate professor at the University of Rzeszów, and also holds the same position at the State Higher Vocational School. The subjects of his paintings can be divided into two main streams: sacral painting and landscape. Sacrum pervades all the paintings of this artist, even those in which he succumbs to a pure enchantment with the landscape being painted. His humility, accompanied by a simultaneous willingness to attain the absolute cognition of the reality surrounding him, makes it possible for the artist to touch the essence of all that is created. Intellectual meditations, peregrinations through the spheres of theological considerations and making himself acquainted with culture-conditioned customs, lead him up to creating his own labyrinths of associations, evaluating the encountered phenomena and religious motifs. In the atmospheric character of landscape arts, his humility is made visible, and so is his admiration for nature, expressed by means of care and lightness of the geometrized plains of fields and trees, sky and clouds, and also the harmony of the arrangements of colours. As well as a painter, Stanisław Białogłowicz is the theorist of art, publishing his reflections on the pages of literature devoted to art, and also in catalogues.

Piotr Błażejewski urodził się w 1950 roku w Kluczborku. Jest absolwentem Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Sztuk Plastycznych we Wrocławiu. Dyplom z malarstwa uzyskał w pracowni prof.

A. Mazurkiewicza w 1975 roku oraz z malarstwa w architekturze i urbanistyce u prof. M. Zdanowicza. Obecnie pracuje w ASP we Wrocławiu na Wydziale Malarstwa i Rzeźby na stanowisku profesora zwyczajnego, prowadząc pracownię malarstwa. Jednocześnie od 2000 roku pracuje w Instytucie Architektury Krajobrazu Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego we Wrocławiu. Uprawia malarstwo i rysunek. O swojej twórczości pisze: „Jeżeli miałbym określić zakres tematyczny mojego malarstwa, szukałbym źródeł inspiracji w chęci odtworzenia rytmiczności, cykliczności, pulsu, miarowości, powtarzalności. Słowo «rytm» w grece oznacza miarę, takt, proporcje – odnosi się więc do wartości plastycznych, muzycznych, matematycznych. Jest kontynuacją aspektu czasowego i przestrzennego. Rytm to powtarzalność, nieskończoność i bezkres; jednocześnie to puls, cykliczność, życie i odnawianie sił przyrody, a także miarowe tykanie zegara, bieg czasu, zapomnienie i śmierć…”.

Piotr Błażejewski was born in Kluczbork in the year 1950. He is a graduate of the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Wrocław. He received a diploma in painting at the atelier of Professor A. Mazurkiewicz in the year 1975, and also in painting in architecture and town planning at the atelier of Professor M. Zdanowicz. Currently, he is working at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, conducting an atelier of painting, and serving in the capacity of a full professor. Simultaneously, since the year 2000 he has been working at the Institute of Landscape Architecture of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. He is active in the field of painting and drawing. This is what he writes about his artistic activity: “If I should have to define the scope of subjects of my painting, I would look for the sources of inspirations in the willingness to re-create rhythmical and cyclical character, pulse, regularity and repeatability. The word ‘rhythm’ in the Greek language means measure, musical time and proportions, and it refers, therefore, to plastic, musical and mathematical values. This word is the continuation of a temporal aspect, and of the spatial one, too. Rhythm is repeatability, infiniteness and boundlessness; simultaneously, it denotes pulse, cyclical character, life and the renewal of the forces of nature, and also the regular ticking of the clock, the passage of time, oblivion and death…”.

Piotr Błażejewski – Wrocław – POLSKA

Joanna Błońska ukończyła Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Supraślu. Studiowała w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych w Gdańsku. Dyplom uzyskała w 1982 roku. Zajmuje się malarstwem, rysunkiem i grafiką. W Sokołowskim Ośrodku Kultury organizuje wystawy i prowadzi zajęcia z młodzieżą.

Autorka Ogólnopolskiej Wystawy Malarstwa „Opowiem Ci o Bogu” zorganizowanej przez Sokołowski Ośrodek Kultury, pod honorowym patronatem ks. A. Pacyfika Dydycza – biskupa diecezji drohiczyńskiej. Wystawa była prezentowana w kilku miastach. W 2005 roku artystka została odznaczona Srebrnym Medalem Zasługi Diecezji Drohiczyńskiej. W jej malarstwie najważniejszą cechą jest zawarte w nim przesłanie, wzbogacające duchowość człowieka. Realizuje też monotypie, tematem których jest poszukiwanie piękna zawartego w miłości. Artystka traktuje miłość jako wartość nadrzędną, wyrażającą nasze człowieczeństwo, w którą oprócz siły i równowagi wpisane jest również cierpienie.

Joanna Błońska completed her secondary education at the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Supraśl. She studied at the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Gdańsk, and received the diploma of this institution in the year 1982.

She is active in the field of painting, drawing and graphic arts. At the Sokołowski Centre of Culture, she organizes exhibitions and conducts classes with young people. She is the authoress of the Nationwide Exhibition of Painting “I will tell you about God”, organized by the Sokołowski Centre of Culture, the honorary patronage of which was undertaken by Father A. Pacyfik Dydycz, the bishop of the Diocese of Drohiczyn. This exhibition was presented in a few cities. In the year 2005, the artist was awarded with Silver Medal for Merit of the Diocese of Drohiczyn. In her painting, the most important quality is the message that is contained in it, enriching the spirituality of a human being. She also creates monotypes the subject of which is searching for the beauty ingrained in love. The artist treats love as a superior value, expressing our humanity, which, apart from strength and balance, it is suffering as well that is an integral part of.

Miro Bucher urodził się na Słowacji w 1950 roku w Lipanach, gdzie mieszka i pracuje. Ukończył wyższą uczelnię plastyczną w Brnie. Zajmuje się malarstwem i ceramiką. Prowadzi działalność pedagogiczną w Zawodowej Szkole Artystycznej w Lipanach. Jest członkiem najstarszego związku twórczego w Słowacji. Komisarz Międzynarodowych Plenerów Malarskich w Lipanach. Od kilkunastu lat jest bardzo aktywnym uczestnikiem międzynarodowych plenerów malarskich w Słowacji, Polsce, Ukrainie, Białorusi, Litwie i innych krajach. W malarstwie najchętniej sięga do inspiracji pejzażem, który przetwarza, syntetyzując jego przedmiotowość i zawężając kolorystykę do wąskich gam barwnych. Tajemnicą magiczności jego pejzaży jest akcent światła padającego na wybrany fragment lub kolorystyczna dominanta wkomponowana na zasadzie kontrastu.

Miro Bucher was born in Slovakia in the year 1950, in Lipany, where he lives and works. He graduated from the higher school of plastic arts in Brno. He is active in the field of painting and pottery. He continues his teaching career in Vocational Artistic School in Lipany. He is a member of the oldest association of artists in Slovakia. He serves as the commissioner of the International Painting Outdoor Events in Lipany. For more than ten years, he has been a very active participant of international painting outdoor events in Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and other countries. In painting, he most willingly seeks inspiration in landscape, which he transforms, synthesizing its subjective character and narrowing the array of colours to a narrow range of them. The mystery of the magical character of his landscape art is the accent of light, falling upon a chosen fragment, or a colour dominant arranged into the painting with the use of contrast.

Halina Budziszewska ukończyła Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Zamościu. Studiowała na Uniwersytecie im. Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu na Wydziale Sztuk Pięknych. Pracuje jako kustosz w Dziale Sztuki Muzeum Regionalnego w Siedlcach. Uprawia malarstwo olejne i akwarele. Tematyką jej obrazów są pejzaże, ogrody i kwiaty. O jej pejzażach krytyk sztuki Witold Turdza napisał: „Zdecydowane pociągnięcia pędzla rozwibrowują fakturę pól, co przybliża je oczom patrzącego. Światło rozlewa się po miękko pofalowanych wzgórzach bądź ocienia je, zacierając kształty. Niknące w chmurach światło, rzuca fioletowy cień, kontrapunktując kolorystycznie pejzaż”.

Halina Budziszewska completed her education at the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zamość. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. She works as a custodian in the Department of Art of the Regional Museum in Siedlce. She is active in the field of oil painting and watercolour painting.

The subjects of her paintings are landscape, gardens and flowers. A critique of art, Witold Turdza, wrote about her landscape art: “Her confident strokes of a paintbrush make the surface quality of the fields vibrating, which brings them closer to the eyes of those looking at them. Light spreads on the softly-rolling hills, or casts shadows upon them, blurring shapes. Light, disappearing in the clouds, casts a violet shadow, counterpointing landscape art with in terms of colours.”

Halina Budziszewska – Siedlce – POLSKA

Skaidrė Butnoriutė mieszka w Wilnie, gdzie pracuje z dziećmi i młodzieżą jako nauczyciel lekcji plastyki. Ukończyła wileńską Akademię Sztuk Pięknych. Uczestniczy w wystawach zbiorowych i międzynarodowych plenerach malarskich.

Wraz z mężem Sauliusem Kruopisem podróżuje i organizuje wspólne wystawy. Na miechowskim plenerze zadeklarowała udział w wystawie „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II, wyznając, że jest pod wielkim wrażeniem jego osobowości.

Kiedy Jan Paweł II przybył do Wilna w 1993 roku, postanowiła iść na spotkanie, bo wszyscy znajomi szli, a kiedy Ojciec Święty przybył, poczuła jego niezwykłość i doznała wzruszeń natury emocjonalnej, które wyryły trwały ślad w jej psychice, wyrażający się chęcią poznawania jego nauki.

Skaidrė Butnoriutė lives in Vilnius, where she works with children and young people in the capacity of a teacher of plastic arts. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. She participates in collective exhibitions and international painting outdoor events. Together with her husband, Saulius Kruopis, she travels and organizes exhibitions of the art created by both of them.

At the painting outdoor event in Miechów, she declared that she would be participating in the exhibition “Colours of Lesser Poland for John Paul II”, confessing that she is under a great impression of his personality. When John Paul II arrived in Vilnius in the year 1993, she decided to attend a meeting with him because all of her acquaintances were doing the same thing, and when the Holy Father arrived, she felt his extraordinariness and went through an emotional experiences, which have left a lasting mark upon her psyche, expressed in willingness to study the teaching of the Holy Father.

Stanisław Chomiczewski urodził się w 1949 roku w Sławatyczach na Podlasiu. Ukończył Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Zamościu. Jest absolwentem Wydziału Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Zafascynowany polskimi górami zamieszkał w Uhryniu w Beskidzie Sądeckim, gdzie hoduje konie i realizuje swoje twórcze pasje. Jego ulubione tematy to właśnie konie oraz pejzaże i portrety. Na wzór Chełmońskiego czy Stanisławskiego lubi naturalny, nieskażony cywilizacją krajobraz i jego nastrój. Artysta kształtuje swoje malarskie emocje szeroką paletą barwną i światłem. Korzysta z postimpresjonistycznych doświadczeń, ale dodaje do nich indywidualne przemyślenia. Polski koloryzm stał się dla niego jego własnym stylem, w którym wypracował rozpoznawalny dla widza sposób obrazowania. Malarz dalekich przestrzeni, kulisowo wyłaniających się zza stoków górskich, doskonale wyczuwa perspektywę powietrzną, która buduje relacje pomiędzy malarskimi płaszczyznami. Świadomy potrzeby korzystania z kolorystycznych akcentów, wkomponowuje je z uczuciem i spontanicznym wyczuciem. Potrafi w malarski sposób subtelnie wyrazić drobne szczegóły surrealistycznej treści, jak w obrazie „A w górach już zima”, gdzie w chmurach dostrzec można charakterystyczną sylwetkę Jana Pawła II.

Stanisław Chomiczewski was born in Sławatycze in Podlachia in the year 1949. He graduated from the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zamość. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Fascinated with the mountains of Poland, he settled down in Uhryń in the Beskid Sądecki Mountains, where he breeds horses and pursuits his artistic passions. His favourite subjects are nothing else, but horses, landscape and portraits. Following the examples of Chełmoński or Stanisławski, he likes a landscape which is natural and not yet spoilt by civilization, and the mood of such a landscape. The artist shapes his painting emotions with a broad palette of colours and light. He takes advantage of post-impressionist experiences, but adds to them his the fruits of individual reflections. Polish Colourism has become for him his own style, in which he has developed the manner of imagery recognizable for the one looking at them. He is the painter of remote spaces, emerging from the backstage of mountain slopes, and he can perfectly sense the perspective of air, which builds relationships between the surfaces of his painting. He is conscious of the need to use the accents of colours, he arranges them into his paintings with feeling and spontaneous sense of beauty. He is able to express in a manner fit for a painter and subtly small details of the surrealistic contents, like in the painting “It is Already Winter in the Mountains”, where, in the clouds, it is possible to see the characteristic silhouette of John Paul II.

The most important of the collective exhibitions to which she has contributed include: 2004 – the Nationwide Competition “Painting of the Year 2004” at the X. Dunikowski Museum of Culture (“the Rabbit House” Palace in Warsaw); 2005 – the Nationwide Triennale of Painting of Young at the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław; 2005 – the presentation of the Marian Michalik post-competition exhibition at the Polish Institute in Stockholm; 2012 – a post-competition exhibition “Picture in the Style of 19th Century Painting” (laureate, winner of the first place), organized by the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy” in Miechów; 2012 – “Lesser Poland Ambiences in Painting” in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union in Brussels; 2013 – “Painting Miniature” in the Art Gallery “Wozownia” (“Coach House”) in Toruń. Wojciech Ćwiertniewicz urodził się w 1955 roku.

Studiował malarstwo na ASP w Krakowie w latach 1976–1981. W 1987 roku otrzymał prestiżową Nagrodę Krytyki Artystycznej im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida. Publikuje teksty o sztuce. W latach 80. malował obrazy figuratywne utrzymane w duchu nowej ekspresji, niekiedy podejmujące postmodernistyczny dialog z motywami sztuki dawnej.

Już wtedy fascynowały go tajemnicze ogrody, bujna roślinność, atmosfera gorących nocy. Pod koniec dekady zaczął malować cykl pejzaży zainspirowany egzotyczną, dziką przyrodą, z którą zetknął się na Maderze. W najnowszym okresie malarz wrócił do figuracji. Osobnym wątkiem w jego twórczości jest malarstwo abstrakcyjne, w którym stosuje zwłaszcza motyw koła, przywiązując doń znaczenia symboliczne. Brał udział w ponad 100 wystawach zbiorowych. Opublikował siedem tomików dzienników: „Dziennik malarza” (Kraków 2002), „Bez tytułu” (Kraków 2004), „Ulica Długa” (Kraków 2005), „Bez Tytułu (2)” (Kraków 2006), „Rok 2006” (Kraków 2007), „2007” (Kraków 2008), „2008” (Kraków 2009).

Wojciech Ćwiertniewicz was born in the year 1955. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the years 1976–1981. In the year 1987, he received the prestigious Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award of Artistic Critiques. He publishes texts about art. In the 1980s, he created figurative paintings kept in the spirit of new expression, and, from time to time, undertaking a postmodernist dialogue with the motifs of old art. It was as soon as at that time, that he was fascinated with mysterious gardens, exuberant vegetation and the atmosphere of hot nights. At the end of that decade, he commenced painting of the cycle of landscape art, inspired by exotic and wild nature which he encountered on Madera. In the most recent period of his activity, this painter has returned to figurative art. A separate thread in his artistic activity is abstract painting, in which he particularly uses the motif of a wheel, attaching a symbolical meaning to it. He has participated in more than 100 collective exhibitions. He has published seven volumes of diaries: “Diary of Painter” (Cracow, 2002), “Without a Title” (Cracow, 2004), “Długa Street” (Cracow, 2005), “Without a Title (2)” (Cracow, 2006), “Year 2006” (Cracow, 2007), “2007” (Cracow, 2008), “2008” (Cracow, 2009).

Izabela Delekta-Wicińska urodziła się w 1921 roku w Wadowicach. W roku 1945 podjęła studia w krakowskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, dyplom uzyskała w 1952 roku. Uzyskała również w 1950 roku dyplom aktorski. Całe zawodowe życie spędziła w Krakowie, oddając temu miastu oba swoje talenty: malarski i aktorski. Iza Delekta-Wicińska jest aktywnym członkiem Związku Polskich Artystów Plastyków, pełniąc w nim wiele odpowiedzialnych funkcji. Została odznaczona Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi oraz Złotą Odznaką Miasta Krakowa. Obraz „Totus Tuus” przypomina wspaniałą fotografię kardynała Wyszyńskiego w objęciach Jana Pawła II, krótko po jego wyborze na Papieża. Przenika go to samo uczucie i ta sama głęboka inspiracja. Bardzo pasuje do Jana Pawła II, którego dewizą jest Totus Tuus. Wielkim zainteresowaniem cieszyła się jej wystawa w domu rodzinnym Ojca Świętego Jana Pawła II w Wadowicach. Odniosła wiele sukcesów w konkursach, m.in. w konkursie na rysunek w ZPAP uzyskała 6 pierwszych nagród. Również za granicą na wystawie w Księstwie Monaco uzyskała główną nagrodę na Konkursie Prix International d`art Contemporain de Monte Carlo, którą wręczył jej uroczyście książę Rainier.

Izabela Delekta-Wicińska was born in Wadowice in the year 1921. In the year 1945, she commenced studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and received her diploma in the year 1952. In the year 1950, she received her diploma in acting as well. She has spent her entire professional life in Cracow, placing at the disposal of this city both of her talents: painting and actins.

Izabela Delekta-Wicińska is an active member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, serving in many responsible capacities in this organization. She was decorated with the Gold Cross of Merit, and also the Gold Badge of Merit for the City of Cracow. The painting bearing the title “Totus Tuus” reminds a magnificent photography of Cardinal Wyszyński in the arms of John Paul II, a short time after the latter one had been elected the Pope. This painting is pervaded by this same feeling and this same deep inspiration. It is very appropriate for John Paul II, whose life motto was “Totus Tuus”. A great interest was enjoyed by her exhibition at the family home of the Holy Father John Paul II in Wadowice. She has been successful in numerous competitions, among others, in the drawing competition in the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, at which she won the first prize six times.

As well as that, she has been successful in foreign countries – at the exhibition in Principality Monaco, she won the main prize at the Competition Prix International d`art Contemporain de Monte Carlo, which was handed over to her by Duke Rainier during a special ceremony.

Anna Dziubas urodziła się i mieszka w Nowym Targu. Jest absolwentką Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Dyplom uzyskała w 1988 roku. Nowotarska artystka kieruje Galerią Sztuki „Jatki” w Nowym Targu od początku jej istnienia. Działalność edukacyjno-wystawiennicza jest dla niej bardzo ważna. Organizuje ambitne wystawy środowiskowe we współpracy z galeriami partnerskich miast w Niemczech i w Słowacji oraz wystawy o charakterze muzealnym: Marca Chagalla czy też Pabla Picassa. Brała udział w wielu wystawach ogólnopolskich i międzynarodowych. Zajmuje się malarstwem i witrażem w technologii Tiffany’ego oraz wystawiennictwem. Najchętniej jednak tworzy swoje obrazy w technice kolażu. Jej twórczość cechuje ekspresja formy i koloru. Nastrojowość jest najważniejszym elementem jej kompozycji, a tematem twórczych wypowiedzi jest najczęściej pejzaż i zaobserwowana w nim metafizyczna zjawiskowość. Pejzaże Anny Dziubas niosą radość życia i odczuwania wzruszenia czerpanego z obcowania z przyrodą. Lubi wędrówki po górach i rozmyślania. Niesie ludziom radość wyrażaną słowami i obrazami. Powściągliwa w ocenianiu innych dąży do jasnego formułowania własnych wypowiedzi. Anna Dziubas was born in Nowy Targ, the city which she still lives in. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She received her diploma in the year 1988. This artist from Nowy Targ has been managing “Jatki” Art Gallery in that city since the time when this institution was established. Her educational and exhibition-related activity is very important for her.

She organizes very ambitious milieu exhibitions, exhibitions in collaboration with the galleries in partner cities in Germany and in Slovakia, and also the exhibitions of museum character: of the works of Marc Chagall or Pablo Picasso. She has participated in numerous nationwide exhibitions and the international ones as well. She is active in the field of painting and stained glass with the use of Tiffany‛s technology, and also activity in the field of exhibitions. However, she is most willing to create her paintings with the use of the technique of collage. Her artistic activity is characterized by the expression of form and colour.

Atmospheric character is the most important element of her arrangements, and the subject of her creative utterances is most frequently landscape and the metaphysical dominance of phenomena observed in it. The landscape art of Anny Dziubas brings the joy of life and experiencing of emotional affections, derived from a contact with nature. She enjoys travelling in the mountains and meditations. She brings to people joy expressed in words and paintings. She is temperate in her assessments of other people, she strives to accomplish the clear formulation of her own utterances. She extrudes from landscape art the rhythmical character of its form, modeling the spatiality with the use of light expressed by means of the valour use of paper, and also of a stroke.

Anna Dziubas – Nowy Targ – POLSKA

Ilona Gonsovska (1955–2008) większą część swojego życia spędziła w Rosji. Mieszkała w Moskwie, a w ostatnich latach życia zamieszkała na Łotwie w Rydze. Zginęła tragicznie w wypadku samochodowym. Pochodziła z rodziny pisarzy.

Jej ojciec Sever Gansovski był klasykiem gatunku fantastyki, a jej wujek Valentin Pikul był pisarzem gatunku historycznego. Ukończyła Wydział Scenografii w Moskiewskim Państwowy Instytucie Sztuki im. W. Surikowa. Malowała, ilustrowała książki, ale głównie zajmowała się scenografią dla teatru we Władywostoku, a później w Rydze.

Jej malarstwo ma charakter bajkowej fantastyki teatralnej. Malowała z bardzo dużą swobodą.

Szczególnie dużo uwagi poświęcała zwierzętom domowym, ale na jej obrazach często pojawiała się też architektura, którą traktowała z taką samą spontanicznością jak inne tematy, nie dbając o szczegóły, rejestrowała to, co najbardziej istotne dla wyrażenia własnej wizji. Zorganizowała wiele wystaw indywidualnych, m.in. w Londynie, Helsinkach, Tokio i Lizbonie. Jej ciepły otwarty w kontaktach ludzkich charakter łączył ją więzami serdecznej przyjaźni z wieloma polskimi artystami. Jej prace znajdują się w muzeach, galeriach i kolekcjach prywatnych w różnych krajach: Japonii, Stanach Zjednoczonych, Hiszpanii, Francji, Niemczech, Rosji, Polsce, Czechach, Wielkiej Brytanii i we Włoszech.

Ilona Gonsowska (1955–2008) spent the best part of her life in Russia. She had lived in Moscow, but in the last years of her life she settled down in Riga in Latvia. She suffered a tragic death in a car accident. She came from the family of writers. Her father, Sever Gansovsky, was the classic representative of the genre of science-fiction, and her uncle, Valentin Pikul, was a writer of historical fiction. Ilona graduated at the Faculty of Stage Design at the W. Surikov Moscow State Institute for Art. She painted, illustrated books, but she was principally active in the field of stage design for the theatre in Vladivostok, and later on in Riga. Her painting has the character of a fairy tale theatrical fantasy.

She painted with a lot of freedom. She devoted a particular attention to domestic animals, but in her paintings architecture could also be frequently seen, and she treated architecture with the same spontaneity as she did in the case of other subjects, not paying attention to details, and she recorded that what is the most significant for the expression of her own vision. She organized numerous individual exhibitions, among others, in London, Helsinki, Tokyo and Lisbon. Her cordial character, open in interpersonal contacts, tied her by the bonds of cordial friendships with numerous Polish artists. Her works can be found in museums, galleries and private collections in various countries: Japan, United States, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, United Kingdom and in Italy.

Ilona Gonsovska – Moskwa – ROSJA

Antoni Górnik urodził się w 1937 roku w Dubnie na Wołyniu. Studiował w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych w Poznaniu jednocześnie na Wydziale Malarstwa i Architektury Wnętrz, na którym uzyskał dyplom w 1961 roku. Malarz, rysownik, architekt wnętrz, związany przez lata z Wielkopolską i ziemią lubuską, od 1980 roku na stałe zagościł w Krakowie. Uczestnik licznych wystaw zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą. Laureat wielu nagród i wyróżnień w ogólnopolskich konkursach malarskich. Prace artysty znajdują się w zbiorach państwowych i w kolekcjach prywatnych. Jest autorem licznych studiów portretowych wykonanych zarówno w technice olejnej, jak i pastelowej. Utrwalił na płótnie wiele postaci z życia kulturalnego i religijnego Krakowa, a także osób sobie bliskich. Artysta maluje również pejzaże, alegoryczne sceny rodzajowe oraz martwe natury. Jego obrazy cechuje szeroka paleta barw o wyciszonej kolorystyce, umiejętność operowania światłem oraz wrażliwość na fakturę przedmiotu.

Antoni Górnik was born in Dubno in Volhynia in the year 1937. He studied at the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Poznań. He received a diploma at the Faculty of Interior Architecture in the year 1961. He was a painter, draughtsman, interior architect, and for years remained connected with Greater Poland and the land of Lubusz, whereas since the year 1980 he settled down in Cracow permanently. He is a participant of numerous collective exhibitions in Poland and in foreign countries. The laureate of numerous awards and distinctions in nationwide painting competitions.

The works of this artist can be found in numerous state collections and private collections as well. He is the author of numerous portraits studies with the use of oil technique, as well as that of pastel. Upon the canvas, he recorded plenty of characters from the cultural and religious life of Cracow, and also people near and dear to him. The artists paints landscape art as well, and also allegorical generic scenes and still life. His paintings are characterized by a broad pallet of muffled colours, ability to operate light, and also sensitivity to the surface quality of the subject.

Krystyna Hajdo-Kućma urodziła się w Krakowie.

Ukończyła krakowską Akademię Sztuk Pięknych na Wydziale Malarstwa. Dyplom uzyskała w 1962 roku. Zrealizowała wiele polichromii, m.in. w Zamku w Güstow w Niemczech, w Sanatorium Wojskowym w Krynicy, w kościołach w Wiśniówce i Księży Michalitów w Krakowie, w kaplicy klasztornej w Miejscu Piastowym, a także obraz-parafrazę wg obrazu Canaletta dla Ambasady Polskiej w New Delhi. Uczestniczyła w wielu wystawach zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą. Zrealizowała kilka wystaw indywidualnych, m.in. wystawę „Piękno Krakowa” w Bratysławie. W jej życiu artystycznym ważne jest też współuczestnictwo w twórczości rzeźbiarskiej męża Wincentego Kućmy. Uczestniczyła w pracach przy projekcie fontanny dla Ambasady Polskiej w Genewie oraz przy projektach pomników „Żołnierza Polskiego” w Nowym Sączu, „Obrońców Poczty Polskiej” w Gdańsku, „Poległym w Obronie Ojczyzny” w Częstochowie i „Powstania Warszawskiego 1944”. Za działalność w tej dziedzinie otrzymała Nagrodę II stopnia Ministerstwa Obrony Narodowej oraz Złotą Odznakę za Zasługi dla Warszawy. W twórczości malarskiej szczególnie bliskie są jej pejzaże, z którymi obcuje na co dzień: rytmiczność traw i drzew, wielowarstwowość roślinnych skupisk oraz przenikanie światła w przestrzeniach natury.

Wykonała cykle obrazów związanych z porami roku, a także cykl „Kosmos-Człowiek”.

Krystyna Hajdo-Kućma was born in Cracow. She graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She received her diploma in the year 1962. She has created plenty of polychromes, among others, in the castle in Güstow in Germany, in the Military Sanatorium in Krynica, in churches in Wiśniówka and of the Michaelites Fathers in Cracow, in the monastery chapel in Miejsce Piastowe, and also a painting-paraphrase, based upon the painting of Canaletto, for the Polish Embassy in New Delhi. She has participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Poland and in foreign countries.

She has prepared a few individual exhibitions, among others, the exhibition bearing the title “The Beauty of Cracow” in Bratislava. In her artistic life, collaboration in the sculpture activity of her husband, Wincenty Kućma, is also important. She has participated in works on the following projects: a fountain for the Polish Embassy in Geneva, Monument to the Polish Soldier in Nowy Sącz, Monument to the Polish Post in Gdańsk, Monument to the Fallen in the Defense of the Motherland in Częstochowa, and Monument of the Warsaw Uprising. For her activity in this field, she received the Award of the second class of the Ministry of National Defense, and also the Gold Badge of Merit for Warsaw. In the scope of her painting activity, she is particularly interested in landscape, with which she in touch on a daily basis: the rhythmical character of grasses and trees, the multi-layer character of the clusters of plants and the pervading of light in the spaces of nature. She has created the cycles of paintings connected with seasons of the year, and also the cycle bearing the title “Cosmos-Man”.

Marek Hołda urodził się w 1956 roku w Miechowie, z którym związany jest emocjonalnie przez całe swoje życie. Artysta preferuje tradycyjne malarstwo sztalugowe, tworząc cykle obrazów historycznych i rodzajowych. Maluje zarówno pejzaże, jak i sceny batalistyczne. Największą fascynacją Marka Hołdy są konie, te na obrazach i te istniejące naprawdę. Konie na obrazach artysty to nie przypadek – Marek Hołda jest związany z nimi na co dzień. Zafascynowany hodowlą koni i sportem jeździeckim związał się z tą dziedziną zawodowo, pracując jako instruktor jeździectwa w stadninach w Udorzu, w Mosznej, a ostatnio w Prudniku. Tajniki malarstwa zdobywał u swojego nauczyciela, z którym się później zaprzyjaźnił – artysty Romana Breitenwalda. Również uczestnictwo w plenerach malarskich i kontakt z artystami wykorzystał do konfrontowania własnego spostrzegania świata z innymi „widzeniami” artystycznych możliwości twórczej wypowiedzi malarskiej. Ważnym tematem jego obrazów jest problematyka związana z niezwykłym sentymentem do realiów historycznych, detali, mundurów, broni, końskich zaprzęgów i klimatów, w których się wychował, związanych na ogół z lokalną historią.

Marek Hołda was born in Miechów, namely in the small town with which he has been emotionally connected throughout his entire life, in the year 1956. The artist prefers traditional easel painting, creating the cycles of historical and generic paintings. He paints both landscape art and battle scenes alike. The subject of the greatest fascination of Marek Hołda is horses, those which may be seen in the pictures and these which actually exist. It was not by accident that horses have found their way to the paintings of this artist – Marek Hołda is connected with them on a daily basis. He is fascinated with breeding horses and the sport of horse-riding, he has become professionally involved in this field, working as a coach of horse-riding in the Studs Farms in Udórz, in Moszna, and recently in Prudnik. The secrets of painting were learnt by him from his teacher, who was later to become also his friend, the artist Roman Breitenwald. Participation in painting outdoor events and contact with artists have both been used by him to confront his own perception of the world with other “manners of seeing” of the artistic possibilities of creative expression in painting as well. An important subject of his paintings is the scope of subjects connected with his extraordinary sentiment for historical reality, details, uniforms, weapons, teams of harnessed horses, climates, in which he lived and in which he was brought up, connected in general with local history.

Helena Jacyno jest artystką pochodzenia ukraińskiego, bo urodziła się we Lwowie, ale jej rodzice mają korzenie polsko-greckie. W 1980 roku ukończyła średnią Szkołę Polską we Lwowie. W latach 1980–1984 kontynuowała naukę we Lwowskim Kolegium Sztuk Pięknych i Dekoracyjnych im.

Iwana Trusza na Wydziale Malarstwa Monumentalno-Dekoracyjnego, a w latach 1988–1995 na ASP we Lwowie na Wydziale Ceramiki Artystycznej, uzyskując dyplom tej uczelni w 1995 roku. Po osiedleniu się w Polsce w latach 2010–2012 pogłębiała swoją wiedzę na Środowiskowych Studiach Doktoranckich w ASP w Krakowie. Uprawia twórczość w różnorodnych dziedzinach sztuk wizualnych: rysunku, grafice, rzeźbie, malarstwie pastelowym, olejnym i akwarelowym, malarstwie na szkle oraz batiku. Fascynuje ją wycinanka artystyczna, techniki kolażu i techniki mieszane.

Interesuje się historią sztuki, filozofią oraz kulturą Polski, Ukrainy i innych narodów. Współpracuje z Polskim Radiem we Lwowie. Pielęgnuje polski patriotyzm i katolicyzm. Treści religijne w jej twórczości malarskiej są czytelne i bardzo głębokie.

Helena Jacyno is an artist of Ukrainian origin because she was born in Lviv, but her parents are of mixed, Polish-Greek origins. In the year 1995, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Lviv. After completing her tertiary education in that city, a few years later she emigrated to Poland and settled down in Przemyśl. In the years 2010–2012, she continued her Ph.D. studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She works in all the fields of visual arts: drawing, graphic design, sculpture, pastel painting, oil and watercolour painting, painting on glass and also with batik. She is fascinated with artistic cut-out, the technique of collage and mixed techniques.

She is interested in the history of art, philosophy and also the culture of Poland, Ukraine and other nations. She collaborates with Polish Radio in Lviv. She nourishes Polish patriotism and Catholic faith. Religious contents in her painting activity are clearly visible and very deep.

Živilė Jasutytė mieszka i pracuje w Wilnie. W 1983 roku ukończyła średnią szkołę artystyczną. W latach 1983–1985 pracowała jako asystent architekta w jednej z fabryk w Wilnie. Następnie studiowała malarstwo w Wileńskim Instytucie Sztuki, który ukończyła w 1991 roku, a obecnie w tejże uczelni jest wykładowcą akademickim. Ponadto studiowała w Danii, Włoszech i we Francji. Zrealizowała wiele wystaw indywidualnych, a także uczestniczyła w licznych wystawach zbiorowych na Litwie i za granicą. Bywa częstym uczestnikiem międzynarodowych plenerów, organizowanych na terenie Litwy, Słowacji, Polski i w innych krajach. Jej malarstwo cechuje ekspresja i bogata symbolika, której poszukuje w rzeczach charakterystycznych oraz kulturowo związanych z miejscem, gdzie je tworzy. Obserwacja jest dla niej podstawą zrozumienia i wyrażenia go językiem sztuki. Najpierw poszukuje pomysłu, później dobiera środki malarskie. Jej obrazy znajdują się w kolekcjach prywatnych na Litwie oraz we Francji, Austrii, Niemczech, Rosji, Danii, Norwegii, Polsce i w USA.

Živilė Jasutytė lives and works in Vilnius. In the year 1983, she graduated from an artistic secondary school. In the years 1983–1985, she worked as an assistant to an architect in one of factories in Vilnius. In the further course of her career, she studied painting at the Institute of Art in Vilnius, from which he graduated in the year 1991, and now she is an academic lecturer at this institution. Furthermore, she studied in Denmark, Italy and France. She has prepared plenty of individual exhibitions, and has also participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Lithuania and in foreign countries. She is a frequent participant of international painting outdoor events, organized on the territory of Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland and in other countries. Her painting is characterized by being very expressive and the use of a wide variety of symbols, which she looks for in the things characteristic of and culturally connected with the place in which she creates it. Observation is for her the foundation of understanding and translation of that into a painting with the use of the language of art. First, she looks for an idea, and later on chooses painting means. Her paintings can be found in private collections in Lithuania, and also in France, Austria, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Poland and USA.

Aimo Kalenoja urodził się w Pori w Finlandii. Podobnie jak jego ojciec zajmuje się malowaniem ikon i portretów, które tworzy dawną techniką stosowaną przez malarzy cerkiewnych. Malarstwa uczył się w Pori, a w Turku studiował filozofię i religioznawstwo. Jego prace znajdują się w cerkwiach na terenie Finlandii. Przez wiele lat malował ikony na potrzeby rosyjskich zakonów. Aimo Kalenoja jest artystą i nauczycielem. Nauczając starej techniki malowania ikon temperą, która była używana w średniowieczu i renesansie, pozyskał wielu uczniów i entuzjastów tej starożytnej metody.

Aimo Kalenoja was born in Pori in Finland. Similarly to his father, he is active in the field of painting icons and portraits, which he creates with the use of an old technique used by painters decorating Orthodox churches. He studied painting in Pori, and in Turku he studied philosophy and religious studies. His works can be found in Orthodox churches of Finland. For many years, he has been painting icons to meet the demand from Russian monastic orders. Aimo Kalenoja is an artist and a teacher. Teaching the old technique of painting icons with the use of tempera, which was used in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, acquired numerous disciples, enthusiasts of this ancient method.

Krzysztof Kolarz urodził się w Bochni w 1983 roku, ale dzieciństwo aż do ukończenia szkoły podstawowej spędził w Miechowie. Ukończył Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Nowym Wiśniczu.

Studiował na Wydziale Malarstwa w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, gdzie w 2009 roku uzyskał dyplom w Pracowni Malarstwa prof.

K. Wachowiaka. W roku 2001 był stypendystą Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego, a w latach 2003–2006 Małopolskiej Fundacji Stypendialnej „Sapere Auso”, natomiast w latach 2006–2007 Fundacji im. Jana Pawła II. Głównym nurtem jego twórczości jest portret, od czystego realizmu wyrażającego zewnętrzną obserwację modela do psychologicznego, ukazującego wewnętrzną ekspresję: cierpienie, ból, tęsknotę.

Niepowtarzalność jego prac wynika głównie ze sposobu widzenia człowieka, w którym artysta odnajduje niebanalne piękno. Jego prace cechuje duża wrażliwość i dojrzałość emocjonalnego spostrzegania oraz warsztatowa sprawność, a także wnikliwa obserwacja wewnętrznego, duchowego piękna portretowanych osób i umiejętność wyrażania zaobserwowanej prawdy.

Krzysztof Kolarz was born in Bochnia in the year 1983, but his childhood, until the time of completing primary education, was spent in Miechów. He graduated from the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Nowy Wiśnicz. He studied at the Faculty of Painting in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and received a diploma at the atelier of painting of Professor K. Wachowiak in the year 2009. In the year 2001, he was the holder of a scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and in the years 2003–2006 the holder of a scholarship of Lesser Poland Scholarship Foundation “Sapere Auso”, and also in the years 2006–2007 of John Paul II Foundation. The main stream of his artistic activity is portrait, from pure realism, expressing the external observation of the model to the psychological one, showing internal expression: suffering, pain and yearning. The absolute uniqueness of his works results principally from the manner of perceiving a man in which this artist finds extraordinary beauty. His works are characterized by substantial sensitivity and the maturity of the emotional perception, as well as the skillfulness of his workshop. The works of K. Kolarz are characterized by the insightful observation of the internal, spiritual beauty of the persons portrayed by him, and also by an ability to express the observed truth.

Ryszard Kowalewski urodził się w 1943 roku w Lublinie. Do Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych uczęszczał w Zamościu. Stamtąd wyjechał na studia do Warszawy. Akademię Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie ukończył z wyróżnieniem w 1968 roku.

W 1970 roku przeniósł się do Gdańska, gdzie w latach 1970–1974 pracował w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych jako asystent. Pasją artysty obok malarstwa stała się wspinaczka wysokogórska. Wieloletnią przygodę z profesjonalnym alpinizmem rozpoczął w polskich Tatrach i począwszy od 1965 roku dokonywał liczących się w alpinizmie wejść. Pasja górska ma dominujące odzwierciedlenie w jego twórczości, maluje góry i portrety ludzi gór. Od kwietnia 2010 roku pełni funkcję wiceprezesa Zarządu Głównego Związku Polskich Artystów Plastyków. Z okazji 40-lecia pracy twórczej otrzymał Nagrodę Prezydenta Miasta Gdańska, a za pracę społeczną Złotą Honorową Odznakę ZPAP. Piękno gór i respekt przed ich żywiołowością wykształciły w nim wrażliwość na potrzeby drugiego człowieka i umiejętność dostrzegania piękna ludzkich dusz wśród bliźnich napotykanych na życiowej drodze.

Ryszard Kowalewski was born in Lublin in the year 1943. He attended the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zamość. From that city, he left for Warsaw in order to study there, and completed the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with distinction in the year 1968. In the year 1970, he moved to Gdańsk, where, in the years 1970–1974, he worked at the State Higher School of Plastic Arts as a professor‛s assistant. Apart from painting, high-mountain climbing has become the passion of this artist. He commenced his several-year long adventure with professional alpinism in the Polish Tatra mountains, and commencing since the year 1965, he performed major ascents in the field of alpinism. His passion for mountains finds its dominating reflection in his artistic activity, as he paints mountains and the portraits of people living there. Since April, 2010, he has been serving in the capacity of the Vice-Chairman of the Main Authority of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. To commemorate the fortieth anniversary of his artistic work, he received the Award of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk, and for his social activity he received the Gold Honorary Badge of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. The beauty of mountains and respect for their ebullience shaped in him the character his of personality sensitive to the needs of a fellow human being and an ability to notice the beauty of souls among the fellow human beings met on the roads of his life.

Saulius Kruopis urodził się w 1960 roku. W wieku pięciu lat postanowił zostać artystą, więc przez cztery lata uczęszczał do Szkoły Sztuki Dziecka.

Od 1975 roku studiował grafikę i fotografię artystyczną w Szkole Sztuki w Kownie, a w latach 1987–1993 w Wileńskiej ASP na Wydziale Malarstwa. Jest malarzem i fotografikiem. Od 1985 roku mieszka w Wilnie i od tego czasu organizuje Międzynarodowe Plenery Malarskie w nadbałtyckiej Nidzie, a także w Niemczech. Należy do Stowarzyszenia Artystów Litewskich, Nida Artists Association „BRIDGE”. Zorganizował wiele wystaw malarskich na Litwie i za granicą. Uczestniczy w różnych międzynarodowych sympozjach i plenerach malarskich. Interesuje się historią i jest też ilustratorem oraz organizatorem zbiorowych wystaw o tej tematyce. Od 1997 roku interesuje się również kulturą wschodu. Wierzy, że człowiek rodzi się na tej planecie nie tylko po to, by jeść i spać. Poczucie humoru i łatwość w nawiązywaniu kontaktów sprawia, że jego aktywność artystyczna znana jest również w zachodniej Europie, szczególnie w Niemczech, a nawet w Indiach.

Saulius Kruopis was born in the year 1960. At the age of 5, he resolved to become an artist, therefore, for four years he attended the School of Child‛s Art. Since the year 1975, he continued his education at the artistic secondary school Kaunas St. Žuko, and since 1987 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. He is a painter and photographer. Since the year 1985, he has been living in Vilnius, and since that time has been organizing the International Painting Outdoor Events in Nida on the coast of the Baltic Sea, and also in Germany. He is member of the Association of Lithuanian Artists, Nida Artists‛ Association BRIDGE. He has organized plenty of painting exhibitions in Lithuania and in foreign countries. He participates in various international symposiums and painting outdoor events. He is interested in history, and he is also the illustrator of it, as well as the organizer of collective exhibitions devoted to this subject. Since the year 1997, he has been interested in the culture of the East as well. He believes that a man is born on this planet not only so that he could consume and relax. The sense of humour and easiness in establishing contacts make his artistic activity known in western Europe, in particular in Germany, and in India as well.

Anna Kruszec-Wróbel jest absolwentką Liceum Ogólnokształcącego w Miechowie. Ukończyła Wydział Architektury Krajobrazu na Politechnice Krakowskiej oraz Wydział Edukacji Artystycznej na Uniwersytecie Pedagogicznym w Krakowie.

Uczestniczyła w corocznych młodzieżowych Warsztatach Plastycznych realizowanych w różnych miastach Polski, a także w Słowacji i we Włoszech. Brała udział w środowiskowych wystawach interdyscyplinarnych „Sposoby Widzenia”. Uprawia twórczość w dziedzinie malarstwa, rysunku i fotografii artystycznej. Uczestniczka wielu plenerów malarskich i wystaw. W konkursie na „Obraz w stylu malarstwa XIX-wiecznego”, zorganizowanym przez BWA „U Jaksy”, zdobyła III nagrodę.

Anna Kruszec-Wróbel is a graduate of Secondary School in Miechów. She graduated from the Faculty of Landscape Architecture of the Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Cracow, and also Faculty of Artistic Education of the Pedagogical University in Cracow. She has participated in annual youth Plastic Workshops taking place in different cities of Poland, and also in Slovakia and in Italy. She has participated in milieu interdisciplinary exhibitions “The Manners of Seeing”. He is involved in artistic activity in the field of painting, drawing and artistic photography. She has participated in numerous painting outdoor events and exhibitions. In the competition for “Picture in the Style of 19th century Painting”, organized by the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy”, she won the third prize.

Wincenty Kućma, artysta rzeźbiarz, urodził się w 1935 roku w Zbilutce na Kielecczyźnie. W latach 1957–1962 studiował na Wydziale Rzeźby ASP w Krakowie, w pracowni prof. W. Ślędzińskiej.

Prowadzi działalność artystyczną w zakresie rysunku, medalierstwa, małych form rzeźbiarskich, a także projektowania i realizacji rozwiązań pomnikowych, wnętrz sakralnych oraz przestrzeni urbanistycznych. W 1967 roku rozpoczął pracę dydaktyczno-naukową w krakowskiej ASP, gdzie do momentu przejścia na emeryturę w 2000 roku kierował Pracownią Przestrzeni w Katedrze Sztuk Wizualnych na Wydziale Form Przemysłowych.

W 1995 roku otrzymał tytuł profesora zwyczajnego. Swoje prace eksponował na ponad 40 wystawach indywidualnych, 80 wystawach zbiorowych w kraju i prawie 60 wystawach za granicą.

Brał udział w wielu konkursach rzeźbiarsko-architektonicznych, uzyskując ponad 50 nagród i wyróżnień. Został odznaczony m.in. Orderem Odrodzenia Polski Polonia Restituta II kl. Komandorskim z Gwiazdą, Złotym Medalem „Zasłużony Kulturze Gloria Artis”, Złotym Medalem Ojca Świętego Jana Pawła II oraz Nagrodą im. św.

Brata Alberta za twórczość w dziedzinie rzeźby patriotycznej i sakralnej. Prace prof. Wincentego Kućmy znajdują się w zbiorach Muzeów Narodowych w Krakowie, Warszawie, Poznaniu, w muzeach sztuki medalierskiej we Wrocławiu i Barcelonie, w Muzeum Sztuki w Sofii, Muzeum Dantego w Rawennie, Muzeum Mikołaja Kopernika we Fromborku oraz Muzeum Historycznym Miasta Krakowa.

Wincenty Kućma, an artistic sculptor, was born in Zbilutka in the Kielce voivodeship in the year 1935. In the years 1957–1962, he studied at the Faculty of Sculpture the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, at the atelier of Professor W. Ślędzińska. He conducts artistic activity in the scope of drawing, medal-making, small forms of sculpture, and also designing and constructing statues, sacral interiors and also town spaces. In the year 1967, he commenced his teaching and scientific career at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, at which he was in charge of the Atelier of Space at the Department of Visual Arts of the Faculty of Industrial Forms until the moment of his retirement in the year 2000. In the year 1995, he received a title of a full professor. He exhibited his works at more than 40 individual exhibitions, 80 collective exhibitions in Poland and nearly 60 exhibitions in foreign countries. He has participated in numerous competitions of sculpture and architecture, gaining more than 50 awards and distinctions. He was decorated, among others, with the Order Polonia Restituta of the Second Class (Commander‛s Cross with Star), the Gold Medal “For the Merits for Culture Gloria Artis”, the Gold Medal of the Holy Father John Paul II and also Saint Brother Albert Award for his artistic activity in the field of patriotic and sacral sculpture.

The works of Professor Wincenty Kućma can be found in the collections of the branches of the National Museum in Cracow, Warsaw, Poznań, in the museums of medal-making art in Wrocław and Barcelona, in the Museum of Art in Sofia, the Dante Museum in Ravenna, the Museum of Nicolas Copernicus in Frombork, and also in the Historical Museum of the City of Cracow.

Ewa Kutermak-Madej urodziła się w Krakowie.

W latach 1973–1978 studiowała na Wydziale Malarstwa krakowskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Dyplom z wyróżnieniem uzyskała w pracowni prof.

J. Joniaka w 1978 roku, a w 1979 roku została pracownikiem dydaktycznym tej uczelni. Obecnie jest wykładowcą w stopniu profesora na Wydziale Architektury Wnętrz ASP w Krakowie. Prof.

A. Wodnicki napisał o jej sztuce: „Artystka szuka doń klucza-zaklęcia, wiedziona przeświadczeniem, iż sztuka, jako jedyna zdolna jest przejąć dzisiaj odwieczną funkcję «theoria tou cosmou» – refleksji nad światem jako całością i jako jego znaczeniem. Cóż stąd, że pewna siebie nauka przekonuje nas, iż ponad niebieską czaszą nabitą ćwiekami gwiazd, nad orbitami planet nie ma już empyrei – domostwa aniołów i demonów, skoro – zależnie od swej natury, ukryci w mroku mnożą tajemne znaki swej obecności, istnieją w nas jako ukryte głęboko pragnienie cudowności, jako wyzwanie losu – skoro można je przywołać, przebłagać lub zmusić do posłuszeństwa przez znak lub słowo – dlaczegóż zatem nie obraz, najbardziej tajemny ze znaków?”.

Ewa Kutermak-Madej was born in Cracow. In the years 1973–1978, she studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.

She received her diploma with distinction at the atelier of Professor J. Joniak in the year 1978, and in the year 1979 she became a member of the teaching staff of this establishment of higher education. Currently, she is a lecturer with the title of a professor at the Faculty of Interior Architecture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Professor A. Wodnicki wrote about her art: “The artist is looking for the key-charm, led by the conviction that art, as the only thing, is today able to take over the ages-long function of ‘theoria tou cosmou’ – reflection concerning the world as the entirety and its meaning. What good is that in the fact that self-assured science persuades us that above the blue sphere marked with the nails of stars and above the orbits of planets, there is no empyrea any more, there is no dwelling of angles and demons, if, depending upon its nature, hidden in the darkness, multiply the mysterious signs of their presence, and exist in us as the deeply-hidden appetite for that what is miraculous, as the challenge of fate – if they can be summoned, pleaded with or force to obey by means of a sign or a word, therefore, why could it not be a painting, the most mysterious of signs?”

Janusz Lewandowski urodził się w 1938 roku w Murzynowie koło Płocka. Studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, dyplom uzyskał w pracowni A. Nacht-Samborskiego w 1964 roku. Malarstwo Janusza Lewandowskiego wyrasta z mazowieckich, płaskich pejzaży, piaszczystych łąk i leśnych polan, smukłych traw i samotnych brzóz. Na tle malarskich wielowarstwowych pejzaży jawią się niczym zjawy koźlonogie zwierzęta, pawie, odyńce i inne stwory.

W podtekstach ukryta jest metafora, najważniejsze przesłanie artysty, który zdradza w nich tajemnice swej duszy. Filozoficzne przemyślenia, literackie wątki ze staropolskich opowiadań i tęsknoty. Jakby chciał zatrzymać przemijanie.

Maluje ulotne wizjonerskie sceny pastwisk, na których ni stąd, ni zowąd wyrasta róża, pojawia się motyl lub powabna wiedźma w fotelu na biegunach. Artysta maluje swoje czekanie na niezwykłość zdarzeń, niby obojętnych, niby niemożliwych, a jednak trwających. Lewandowski umie rozmawiać i umie też opowiadać. O ciszy, o samotności i o szczęściu bycia artystą. Namawia widza, aby też poczuł się szczęśliwym z samego patrzenia na pejzaż i na obraz, który ten pejzaż zatrzymuje na dłużej. Janusz Lewandowski was born in Murzynów near Płock in the year 1938. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and received a diploma at the atelier of Artur Nacht-Samborski in the year 1964. The painting of Janusz Lewandowski grows from the flat landscapes of Mazovia, sandy meadows and forest clearings, slender grasses and solitary birches. Against the background of multi-layer painted landscapes, like apparitions animals with legs like those of goats, peacocks, boars and other creatures can be seen. In undertones, a metaphor is hidden, the most important message of the artist, who reveals in them the mysteries of his soul. Philosophical considerations, literary motifs from old Polish tales and yearnings.

It seems as if he wanted to stop the passage of time. He paints volatile visionary scenes of pastures, in which, out of nowhere, a rose grows, a butterfly appears or an charming hag in a rocking chair can be seen. The artist paints his waiting for the extraordinary character of events, apparently irrelevant, apparently impossible, and still lasting. Lewandowski can converse and he can tell stories, too. The stories of silence, of solitude and of the happiness of being an artist. He persuades the one looking at them to also feel happy because of the looking at landscape and at a painting which records this landscape for a longer time, itself. The artist paints nocturnes so as to make the one looking at them able to stare into the noiseless passage of time, and like the artist, stare into the meadow or ploughed-over field and in wandering mist over the pasture. Analyzing mysterious scenes, appearance and disappearance of otherworldly creatures, which are apparitions in the imagination of the observer as independent entities as well. The painting speaks with the use of emotions, because the artist recorder on it all these reflections and experiences.

Kazimierz Madej urodził się w 1952 roku w Zimnej Wodzie. Jest absolwentem Wydziału Malarstwa i Wydziału Scenografii Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Dyplom uzyskał w 1977 roku. Jest artystą kabaretowym, aktorem, reżyserem, scenografem, kostiumografem, malarzem. Wieloletnim artystą i scenografem „Piwnicy pod Baranami”.

W 1984 roku zdobył nagrodę za najlepszą scenografię na Festiwalu Internazionale Atti Unici w Arezzo (do spektaklu „Piwnicy pod Baranami”). W 1989 roku zrealizował „Spektakl Excentryczny”. W styczniu 1991 roku wraz ze Zbigniewem Rajem założył „Salon Excentryczny”. Zrealizował z „Salonem” spektakl „Czarujący Dekapitator”. W tym samym roku wyreżyserował sztukę Michela de Ghelderodego „Eskurial”. W roku 1990 został laureatem Nagrody im. Wiesława Dymnego przyznanej za wszechstronną działalność artystyczną przez Fundację im. Wiesława Dymnego z siedzibą w Montrealu. W 1992 roku założył w „Klubie Garnizonowym” w Krakowie „Kabaret Miejski”. Premierowy spektakl nosił tytuł „Cudowny bękart”. W 1993 roku kabaret ten został przeniesiony na ul. Świętego Tomasza 17 i przemianowany na „Loch Camelot”.

Kazimierz Madej was born in Zimna Woda in the year 1952. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting and the Faculty of Stage Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He received a diploma in the year 1977. He is a cabaret artist, actor, director, stage designer, costumer and a painter. For many years, he has been involved in the activity of “Cellar under the Rams” as an artist and a stage designer. In the year 1984, he won the prize for the best stage design at the Festival Internazionale Atti Unici in Arezzo (for the theatrical performance of “Cellar under the Rams”). In the year 1989, he prepared “Eccentric Performance”. In January 1991, together with Zbigniew Raj, he established “Eccentric Showroom”. He prepared with “Showroom” the theatrical performance bearing the title “Charming Decapitator”. In this same year, he directed the play of Michel de Ghelderode “Escorial”. In the year 1990, he became the laureate of Wiesław Dymny Award for multi-faceted artistic activity

by Wiesław Dymny Foundation having its seat in Montreal. In the year 1992, he established “City Cabaret” in the “Garrison Club” in Cracow. The premiere performance bore the title “Wonderful Bastard”. In the year 1993, this cabaret had its address changed for 17 Świętego Tomasza Street, and renamed “Loch Camelot”.

Twórczość jest dla Waltera Maringera dopełnieniem duchowego życia oraz spełnieniem wewnętrznych tęsknot do wyrażenia własnych uczuć. Artysta zaprasza nas do świata pełnego emocji. Ekspresyjne obrazy emanują tajemniczą głębią. Pod warstwami grubo kładzionej farby oraz różnego rodzaju materiałów, tj. papieru czy kawałków tkaniny, odnajdujemy kolejne warstwy malarskie. Stosując takie zabiegi, tworzy trójwymiarowe abstrakcyjne przestrzenie, z których wyłania się człowiek. Tak, to człowiek właśnie, jako anonimowa istota ludzka, jest przedmiotem jego zainteresowań artystycznych.

Walter Maringer is an Austrian artistic painter, and also a teacher of artistic subjects and the English language from Kirchberg am Wagram near Vienna. His paintings, inspired by personal experiences, memories and tales, are constructed with the use of experimental forms combining various techniques and also media of painting substances. He is a man of strong personality and steadfast religious principles. His philosophy treats family and commitments as absolute priorities. He implemented a project with the use of European funds bearing the title Art and Wine (Kunst & Wein), opening directly above the cellars in which vine is stored to mature, a gallery of contemporary art. In the year 2013, he organized in the established gallery the international exhibition of painting “Small Formats”, inspired

by Miechów painting outdoor events “Colours of Lesser Poland”. The patronage of this exhibition was undertaken by the Ambassador of Poland in Vienna, Romuald Szoka. Artistic activity is for Walter Maringer the complementation of spiritual life and also fulfillment of internal yearnings for the expression of his own feelings. The artist invites us to the world full of emotions. His expressive paintings emanate a mysterious deepness. Under the layers of thickly-laid paint and also various kinds of materials, i.e. paper or pieces of fabric, we find the following layers of painting. Using such procedures, he creates three-dimensional abstract spaces, out of which a man emerges. Yes, this is a man as an anonymous human being that is the subject of the interests of this artist.

Franciszek Maśluszczak jest absolwentem Liceum Plastycznego w Zamościu. W 1968 roku ukończył Akademię Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie.

Dyplom artysty sztuk pięknych uzyskał w 1974 roku na Wydziale Grafiki pod kierunkiem prof.

J. Pałki. Największy wpływ na edukację artysty wywarł prof. J. Strzałecki. Franciszek Maśluszczak zespala malarstwo z rysunkiem w specyficzny sposób, zacierający granice pomiędzy rozdzielnością tych dwóch metod obrazowania. W jego twórczości pobrzmiewa melodia nucona dla bliskiej osoby, przed którą nie mamy tajemnic i nie czujemy skrępowania. Nie obowiązują go żadne inne reguły poza tymi, które sam sobie narzuca.

Niby nieporadne kreski wyczarowują bajeczne sytuacje, ale kiedy artysta czuje, że trzeba zachować powagę, dyscyplinuje się i korzysta ze znanych reguł klasycznych. Ale jego twórczość jest rozpoznawalna w tych obrazach, które nie są podporządkowane żadnym kanonom. Ze spontanicznością i radością buduje scenki rodzajowe, zaobserwowane na uliczkach miast, wiejskich placach i w teatralnych wnętrzach.

Tu wszyscy mogą się ze sobą spotykać: wieśniacy i mieszczuchy, uczeni i fryzjerzy, piękne kobiety i stwory z legend. Poruszając tematy poważne, z szacunkiem odnosi się do uczuć i przekonań religijnych.

Franciszek Maśluszczak is a graduate of the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zamość. In the year 1968, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He received a diploma of the artist in the field of Fine Arts in the year 1974, at the Faculty of Graphic Design under the guidance of Professor J. Pałka. The greatest influence on the education of this artist was exerted

by Professor J. Strzałecki. Franciszek Maśluszczak unites painting and drawing in a specific manner, blurring borders between the divisibility of these methods of imagery. In his artistic activity, there resounds the melody hummed for someone near and dear, before whom we have no secrets, and who does not make us feel self-conscious. He is not bound by any rules, apart from those which he enforces upon himself. Apparently awkward strokes conjure up fairy tale-like situations, but when the artist feels that he should remain serious, he enforces discipline upon himself and takes advantage of well-known classic rules. Still, his artistic activity is recognizable in these paintings which are not subjected to any canons. With spontaneity and joy, he builds generic scenes, observed in the streets of cities, village squares and in the interiors of theatres.

Here, everyone can meet each other: countrymen and townsfolk, scientists and hairdressers, beautiful women and creatures from legends.

Raising serious subjects, the artist treats feelings and religious convictions with respect as well.

Zorganizował ponad 300 wystaw indywidualnych w kraju, m.in.: w Lublinie, Krakowie, Radomiu, Rzeszowie, Szczecinie, Poznaniu, Tychach, Katowicach, Warszawie, Sopocie, Wrocławiu, Łodzi, a także za granicą: w Sofii, Pradze, Sztokholmie, Wiedniu, Komarnie, Aix-les-Bains, Mediolanie, Nowym Jorku, Waszyngtonie i Bratysławie. Stanisław Mazuś was born in Lublin in the year 1940. In the years 1961–1967, he completed studies at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and received a diploma at the atelier of Professor Eugeniusz Eibisch. He was twice the holder of a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and Art. Since the year 1967, he has been participating in international, nationwide and regional competitions, outdoor events and exhibitions. He has organized more than 300 individual exhibitions in Poland, among others, in Lublin, Cracow, Radom, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Kołobrzeg, Zielona Góra, Poznań, Tychy, Katowice, Warsaw, Sopot, Wrocław and Łódź, and also in foreign countries: in Sophia, Prague, Stockholm, Vienna, Komarna, Aix-les-Bains, Milan, New York, Washington and Bratislava. He has participated in the presentations of Polish art in foreign countries, among others, in Madrid, Moscow, New York, Paris, Ulan Bator, Barcelona, Bratislava, Prague, Athens and Berlin. His works can be found in the collections of state institutions, museums, private collections in Poland and in foreign countries, among others, in Uffizi Gallery in Florence. He is a laureate of numerous major awards and distinctions.

Leszek Misiak urodził się w 1943 roku. Studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Dyplom na Wydziale Malarstwa uzyskał w 1968 roku w pracowni prof. W. Taranczewskiego. Obecnie jest profesorem zwyczajnym ASP w Krakowie.

Uprawia malarstwo, rysunek i grafikę. Leszek Misiak z pełną skupienia uwagą obserwuje otoczenie. Jego zainteresowanie budzą zwyczajne fragmenty natury i pospolite przedmioty. Cechują je przemyślane podziały przestrzenne i harmonijne, wyszukane zestawienia barwne. Niezależnie od wyboru motywów, emanują niemal absolutnym spokojem. Przede wszystkim jednak sztuka Leszka Misiaka jest wynikiem głębokiego odczuwania natury. Stanisław Tabisz napisał o nim: „Jego obrazy są antidotum na dramaty, szaleństwa i zgiełk medialny współczesnego świata, na jego egoizm, niesprawiedliwość, konsumpcjonizm i przemoc. Leszek Misiak wskazuje piękno świata na krawędziach jego granic widzialności i rozpoznawalności, w czystej konstrukcji spraw i form ostatecznych, nie gubiąc do końca szczegółów tego, co nam bliskie i przyjazne, co jest obrazem świata, w którym żyjemy i umieramy. Podkreśla piękno i wartość ciszy w wizji i komunikacie stworzonym specjalnie przez artystę dla drugiego człowieka”.

Leszek Misiak was born in the year 1943. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.

He received a diploma at the Faculty of Painting in the year 1968 at the atelier of Professor W. Taranczewski. Currently, he is a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He is active in the field of painting, drawing and graphic design. Leszek Misiak observes his surroundings with a lot of attention and concentration. His interests are focused on commonplace fragments of nature and commonplace items.

These are characterized by well-considered divisions in terms of space and harmonious, sophisticated collations of colours. Regardless of the selection of motifs, they emanate nearly absolute peace. However, first and foremost the art of Leszek Misiak is the result of the deep experiencing of nature. Stanisław Tabisz wrote about him: “His paintings are antidote against dramas, madness and the media hustle and bustle of the contemporary world, against the egoism, injustice, consumerism and violence that pervade it.

Leszek Misiak indicates the beauty of the world at the edges of the visibility and recognizability of it, in a pure construction of final matters and forms, not losing entirely the details of that what is close and friendly to us, what the picture of the world in which we live and die, is. He emphasizes the beauty and the value of silence in vision and message created by an artist particularly for another human being.”

Eugeniusz Molski urodził się w 1942 roku w Bagienicach. Jest absolwentem Państwowego Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Nałęczowie i Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Sztuk Plastycznych we Wrocławiu, gdzie w 1969 roku uzyskał dyplom w zakresie malarstwa architektonicznego i ceramiki. Następnie w latach 1969–2006 nauczał ceramiki w Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Nowym Wiśniczu. W 2008 roku otrzymał tytuł: Honorowy Ambasador Ziemi Wiśnickiej. Eugeniusz Molski to artysta niezwykle wszechstronny. Uprawia ceramikę, rzeźbę, malarstwo, malarstwo ścienne. Jest również podróżnikiem i ze swoich wędrówek czerpie twórcze inspiracje. Eugeniusz Molski was born in Bagienice in the year 1942. He is a graduate of the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Nałęczów and the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Wrocław, where in the year 1969 he received a diploma in the scope of architectural painting and pottery. Later on, in the years 1969–2006, he taught pottery in the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Nowy Wiśnicz. In the year 2008, he received the title of the Honorary Ambassador of the Land of Wiśnicz. Eugeniusz Molski is an extremely versatile artist. He is active in the field of pottery, sculpture, painting and mural painting. As well as that, he is a traveller, and the inspirations for his art is derived from his journeys. It is extremely easy for him to establish contact with and the one looking at them. He is direct and open, and even provoking conversation. Eugeniusz Molski exhibits a lot and he has organized more than 200 individual exhibitions. He has participated in 200 collective exhibitions in Poland and in foreign countries. He is the laureate of numerous awards, among others, in 1978 in Cracow, the Office of Artistic Exhibitions, the award of the Sculpture of the Year in Southern Poland; Tarnów, the Office of Artistic Exhibitions, Award of the Mayor of the City; 1980–1981 – Debrzno, the award of the host of the outdoor event “Pottery for architecture”; the award of Gdyńskie Enterprise of Building Pottery, among others, the first prize in the competition for pottery-made wall; Łódź, PAX Gallery, the third prize at the exhibition “Sacrum in contemporary plastic arts”; 1989 – Cracow, the Office of Artistic Exhibitions, Grand Prix in competition “Primum non nocere”.

Małgorzata Moneta mieszka i pracuje w Łodzi.

W 1995 roku uzyskała dyplom Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Sztuk Plastycznych im. Władysława Strzemińskiego w Łodzi (obecnie ASP) w pracowni tkaniny unikatowej. W manufakturze na Shikoku w Japonii uczyła się sztuki washi. Uzyskała stypendium Arts Link w USA w Rutgers University w New Jersey. Jest również absolwentką Wydziału Fizyki Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Działa w zakresie kilku mediów. Tworzy instalacje, obiekty, fotografie. Zaczynała od malarstwa. Uważa, że ta dziedzina sztuki stanowi korzenie dla każdego artysty, dlatego zawsze chętnie do niego wraca. Swoje prace przedstawiała na wielu wystawach indywidualnych i międzynarodowych.

Mówi o sobie: „Szczególnie interesuje mnie pejzaż, szukam w nim i znajduję inspiracje, próbuję znaleźć jego istotę, dlatego moje obrazy są coraz bliższe abstrakcji. Jednak zdarza się, że surowe i zarazem naiwne piękno małopolskich romańskich kościółków tak bardzo mnie urzeka, że nie mogę oderwać się od ich realności. Może to przyjdzie z czasem…”.

Małgorzata Moneta lives and works in Łódź.

In the year 1995, she received her diploma of the Władysław Strzemiński State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Łódź (currently, the Academy of Fine Arts) at the atelier of unique fabric. In the manufacture on the island of Shikoku in Japan, she learnt the art of washi. She received a scholarship of Arts Link in USA at Rutgers University in New Jersey. As well as that, she is a graduate of the Faculty of Physics of the University of Łódź.

She is active in the field of a few media. She creates installations, artifacts and photographs. She commenced her career with painting. She is of the opinion that this field of art constitutes roots for every artist, and for that reason she is always willing to return to it. She has presented her works at numerous individual exhibitions and international ones. This is what she says about herself: “I am particularly interested in landscape art, and I am looking for inspiration in it and find it.

I am trying to discover its essence, and for that very reason, my paintings are ever closer to abstraction. However, it happened that the severe and naive beauty of the small Romanesque churches of Lesser Poland enchanted me so much that I cannot turn my eyes away from their being real. Perhaps, it will come with time…”.

Małgorzata Moneta – Łódź – POLSKA

Krystyna Nowakowska urodziła się w 1953 roku w Rzeszowie. Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych ukończyła w Jarosławiu w 1973 roku, a w latach 1973–1979 studiowała na Wydziale Rzeźby Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Dyplom pod kierunkiem prof. J. Bandury uzyskała w 1979 roku.

Zajmuje się rzeźbą, ze szczególnym upodobaniem do unikatowych kompozycji, tworzonych w wosku i odlewanych w brązie, techniką „traconego wosku”.

O jej twórczości pisała m.in. Maria Zientara: „Począwszy od drugiej połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych Krystyna Nowakowska rzeźbi anioły. Anioły – istoty niematerialne, pośredniczące między bóstwem a ludźmi – zajmują znaczące miejsce w religiach Wschodu, m.in. w mazdaizmie, islamie, judaizmie i chrześcijaństwie. Angelologia chrześcijańska grupuje anioły w trzech hierarchiach i dziewięciu chórach. Serafini, Cherubini i Trony kontemplują wszechpotęgę Boga. Państwa, Księstwa i Zwierzchności rządzą światem doczesnym, a Mocarstwa, archaniołowie i aniołowie wypełniają polecenia jednostkowe istoty boskiej. Anioły Krystyny Nowakowskiej to posłańcy z innego wymiaru, którego istnienie człowiek przeczuwa. Krystyna Nowakowska was born in Rzeszów in the year 1953. She completed her secondary education in the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Jarosław in the year 1973, and in the years 1973–1979 studied at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She received her diploma under the guidance of Professor J. Bandura in the year 1979. She is active in the field of sculpture, and she particularly prefers unique arrangements, created in wax and cast in bronze with the use of the technique of “lost wax”. Her artistic activity was the subject of, among others, Maria Zientara‛s words: “Commencing with the second half of the 1990s, Krystyna Nowakowska has been creating the sculptures of angels. Angels, the non-material creatures, acting as intermediaries between a deity and men, have a major role in the religions of the East, among others, in Zoroastrianism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Christian angelology groups angels in three hierarchies and nine choirs. Seraphs, Cherubs and Thrones contemplate God Omnipotent. Virtues, Principalities and Dominions govern this world, and Powers, Archangels and Angels perform the commands of the Divine Entity concerning individuals. The Angels of Krystyna Nowakowska are messengers from another dimension, the existence of which is the object of the premonition by men. They are intermediaries «facilitating» contact with the Absolute on different planes and in different aspects, adjusted to the human possibilities of comprehending that what cannot be the object of cognition. These are personal friends, advisors and judges, speaking by ideas, doubts or pangs of conscience borne in human minds.”

Krystyna Olchawa dzieciństwo spędziła w Młynnem na Limanowszczyźnie. Jest absolwentką Państwowego Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Nowym Wiśniczu. W 1982 roku ukończyła Państwową Wyższą Szkołę Sztuk Plastycznych (ASP) w Gdańsku. Dyplom uzyskała w 1984 roku. Dwa lata później utworzyła w Miechowie Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych „U Jaksy”, którym kieruje od początku jego istnienia. Od 2000 roku organizuje coroczne, Międzynarodowe Plenery Malarskie „Barwy Małopolski”. Jest autorką zbiorowej wędrującej wystawy „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II. Od 1975 roku uczestniczy w międzynarodowych plenerach malarskich w Polsce i w innych krajach europejskich, znajdując tam dogodne warunki i czas dla własnej twórczości w dziedzinie malarstwa. Tworzy w technikach: pastel, olej i akryl. Zrealizowała kilkanaście cyklów obrazów, m.in.: „Pomiędzy”, „Ptaki”, „Rytmy”, „Ogrody”. Obecnie fascynuje ją zagadnienie światła, jako Światłości Boskiej Mocy, bez której życie na ziemi nie mogłoby istnieć.

Chętnie maluje pejzaże, w których światło staje się symbolicznym znakiem sacrum, nadającym obrazom tajemniczego znaczenia, skłaniającego do filozoficznych rozważań na temat trwania i przemijania wszystkiego, co żyje.

Krystyna Olchawa spent her childhood in Młynne on the land of Limanowa commune.

She is a graduate of the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Nowy Wiśnicz. In the year 1982, she graduated from the State Higher School of Plastic Arts (the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdańsk.

She received her diploma in the year 1984. In 1986, she established (in Miechów) the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy”, which she has been managing since the beginning of its existence.

Since the year 2000, she has been organizing annual International Painting Outdoor Events “Colours of Lesser Poland”. She is the authoress of the collective travelling exhibition “Colours of Lesser Poland for John Paul II”. Since the year 1975, she has been participating in international painting outdoor events in Poland and in other countries of Europe, finding there convenient conditions and time for her own artistic activity in the field of painting. She uses the following techniques: pastel, oil and acryl. She has created more than ten cycles of paintings, among others, bearing the titles: “Between”, “Birds”, “Rhythms” and “Gardens”. Currently, she is fascinated with the issue of light, as the Light of the Divine Power without which life on Earth could not exist. She is willing to paint landscape art, in which light becomes the symbolic sign of sacrum, giving her paintings the mysterious meaning, inclining to undertake philosophical considerations on the issue of the lasting and passing of all that lives.

Paweł Olchawa urodził się w 1980 roku w Krakowie. Dzieciństwo i wczesną młodość spędził w Miechowie. Studiował na Wydziale Malarstwa i Grafiki w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Łodzi.

Po ukończeniu studiów związał się zawodowo z Biurem Wystaw Artystycznych „U Jaksy” w Miechowie, pracując na stanowisku artysty grafika i tworząc na potrzeby wydawnicze BWA „U Jaksy”: katalogi, albumy, plakaty i inne druki okolicznościowe.

W twórczości malarskiej, w dużej mierze uzależnionej od plenerowego uczestnictwa w międzynarodowych sympozjach malarskich, realizuje dwa nurty. Pierwszy to inspiracje pejzażem i czerpanie z jego uroków, drugi zaś to wewnętrzne odkrywanie własnej wrażliwości na piękno płynące z głębin duszy. Malarstwo Pawła Olchawy to pejzaże z pogranicza abstrakcji i abstrakcje inspirowane pejzażem, wyrażonym za pomocą rytmów plam, plamek, kresek i płaszczyzn, zakodowane w barwne kompozycje zawężonych gam kolorystycznych. Maluje też pejzaż z mistycznym przesłaniem odwołującym się do ważnych zdarzeń. Witold Turdza w tekście do katalogu wystawy poplenerowej napisał o nim: „W obrazach Pawła Olchawy widać, jak malarz zmierza w stronę abstrakcji. Od pejzażu miasta, w którym geometryzuje kształty realnych budynków, poprzez kompozycje figur geometrycznych kształtem i układem odwołujące się do utrwalonych tradycją widoków miejskich aż do zupełnie abstrakcyjnego układu figur: prostokątów, kwadratów i innych. Wszelako obrazy nie są pozbawione ekspresji, uzyskanej kolorem: czy to płonącego zachodem słońca czy siniejącej zielonkawo mgły”.

Paweł Olchawa was born in Cracow in the year 1980. Childhood and the early period of youth were both spent by him in Miechów. He studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Design in the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. After graduation, he became professionally involved in the activity of the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy” in Miechów, working in the capacity of artist (graphic designer) and creating, for the publishing needs of the Office of Artistic Exhibitions “U Jaksy”, catalogues, albums, posters and other special occasion printed materials. In his painting activity, to a substantial degree determined by his outdoor participation in international painting symposiums, he follows two streams. The first of them is constituted by inspirations from landscape and drawing upon its charms, whereas the second one is external discovering of his own sensitivity to the beauty coming from the depth of soul. The painting of Paweł Olchawa is landscape art at the border of abstraction and abstract art, inspired by landscape, expressed with the use of the rhythms of stains, spots, strokes and plains, coded in colour arrangements of the narrowed array of colours. He also paints landscape art with the mystic message invoking important events. Witold Turdza, in the text for the catalogue of a post-outdoor event exhibition, wrote about him: “In the paintings of Paweł Olchawa, one can see how the painter is moving in the direction of abstraction. From the landscape of a city in which he geometrizes the shapes of real buildings, through the arrangements of geometric figures, with their shape and situation drawing upon the, established by tradition, urban views, to the completely abstract of figures: rectangles, squares and other. However, his paintings are not deprived of expressions, obtained with the use of colours, be it of the flame-like sunset, or greenly livid mist.”

Reija Remes urodziła się w 1951 roku w Sonkajärvi w Finlandii. Artystka studiowała w Kuopio Academy of Design. Dyplom uzyskała w 1984 roku.

W latach 1984–1990 w tejże uczelni nauczała projektowania tkanin. Obecnie mieszka w Pori w południowo-zachodniej Finlandii, u ujścia rzeki Kokemäen do Zatoki Botnickiej. Jej twórczość obejmuje grafikę, malarstwo oraz pisanie prawosławnych ikon. Prace Reiji Remes eksponowane były na licznych wystawach w Finlandii, krajach Europy, w USA, Kanadzie, Indiach i w Japonii.

W pracach malarskich i graficznych stara się wyrazić w symboliczny sposób swoje wrażenia z podróży po Europie. Uczestnicząc w Międzynarodowych Plenerach Malarskich „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II, namalowała cykl obrazów zatytułowanych „Pomiędzy Niebem a Ziemią”, które symbolizują mosty łączące różne kontynenty, jak nawy świątyń – symboliczne połączenie uczuć i myśli wiernych z niebiosami.

Reija Remes was born in Sonkajärvi in Finland in the year 1951. The artist studied at the Kuopio Academy of Design. She received her diploma in the year 1984. In the years 1984–1990, at that very establishment of tertiary education, she taught fabric design. Currently, she lives in Pori in the south-west part of Finland, at the mouth of the River Kokemäen flowing into the Gulf of Bothnia. Her artistic activity encompasses graphic design, painting and also painting Orthodox icons. The works of Reija Remes were exhibited at numerous exhibitions in Finland, the countries of Europe, in USA, Canada, India and in Japan.

In her painting and graphical art, she strives to express in a symbolical manner her impressions from travelling across Europe. Participating in the International Painting Outdoor Events “Colours of Lesser Poland for John Paul II”, she painted a cycle of paintings bearing the title “Between Heaven and Earth”, which symbolize bridges connecting various continents, and the naves of temples – symbolical connection of feelings and thoughts of the faithful with heavens.

Allan Rzepka urodził się w 1940 roku w Krakowie. Studiował w krakowskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych na Wydziale Malarstwa w pracowni C. Rzepińskiego oraz równocześnie na Wydziale Scenografii pod kierunkiem A. Stopki. Dyplom ukończenia studiów otrzymał w 1963 roku. Allan Rzepka jest profesorem zwyczajnym Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie, swój czas dzieli na pracę pedagogiczną i artystyczną. W swej działalności artystycznej skupił się na tworzeniu malarstwa sztalugowego, grafiki oraz scenografii. Wielu obserwatorów jego twórczości patrzy na nią przez pryzmat sceny. Uczestniczył w paryskim Biennale Młodych w latach 1965 i 1967, otrzymał za swoje prace wyróżnienie. Był twórcą scenografii dla teatrów w Kaliszu, Bielsku-Białej i Katowicach, współpracował też w tym zakresie z wrocławskim ośrodkiem Telewizji Polskiej. Uczestniczył w spotkaniach i festiwalach teatralnych.

Działalność scenograficzną zakończył wystawą zorganizowaną w 2000 roku w Galerii Teatralnej krakowskiego Muzeum Historycznego pt. „Malarstwo w teatr uwikłane”. W jego obrazach rozgrywa się teatr wyobraźni malarskiej, wielopłaszczyznowej, łączącej różne rodzaje perspektyw: przede wszystkim intencjonalnej, ale również kulisowej, powietrznej i kolorystycznej. Malarski teatr Allana Rzepki jest pogodny, ale równocześnie poważny. Każdy przedmiot w obrazie traktowany jest z dbałością o sens jego współistnienia.

Allan Rzepka was born in Cracow in the year 1940. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, at the Faculty of Painting, at the atelier of C. Rzepiński and also, simultaneously, at the Faculty of Stage Design under the guidance of A. Stopka. He received a graduation diploma in the year 1963. Allan Rzepka is a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and divides his time between teaching and artistic career.

In his artistic activity, he has concentrated upon creating easel painting, graphic design and also stage design. The numerous observers of his artistic activity perceive it in the aspect of the stage. He has participated in the Paris Biennale of Young in 1965 and 1967, and he received distinctions for his works. He was the author of the stage designs for theatres in Kalisz, Bielsko-Biała and Katowice, and he also collaborated in this scope with the Wrocław branch of the Polish public television. He has participated in theatrical meetings and festivals. He finished his activity in the field of stage design by the exhibition organized in 2000 at the Theatrical Gallery of the Historical Museum in Cracow, bearing the title “Painting Mingled with the Theatre”. In his paintings, the theatre of painter‛s imagination, multi-layered and combining various kinds of perspective, first and foremost, intentional, but as well as that backstage, air and colour, shows his performance. The painting theatre of Allan Rzepka is serene, but simultaneously serious.

Every subject in a painting is treated with attention paid to the meaning of its co-existence.

Shukr Saeed urodził się w 1979 roku, mieszka w Erbil w Kurdystanie na terenie obecnego Iraku. W 2000 roku ukończył Instytut Sztuk Pięknych w Arbil. Jest dyrektorem i edytorem magazynu o sztuce „Shewakari”. W dwóch numerach (w roku 2009 i 2011) zamieścił dwa kilkunastostronicowe reportaże z Międzynarodowych Plenerów Malarskich „Barwy Małopolski”, w których uczestniczył w latach: 2009, 2010 i 2012. Opowiada się przeciwko wszelkim rodzajom przemocy, a w szczególności przeciwko wojnom na tle religijnym. Przeciwko wojnie, która dotyka jego kraj.

W twórczości malarskiej Shukr Saeed demonstruje swoją pacyfistyczną postawę. W jednym z obrazów ukazuje tłumy ciemnej masy ludzkiej zniewolonej religią, źle rozumiejącą jej istotę.

W innym zatytułowanym „Oczekiwanie” przedstawione są anonimowe sylwetki wyczekujące na światło z nieba, a w obrazie „Zniewolenie” ukazana jest zawoalowana niewiasta, w pozycji klęczącej tyłem do czerni nieba, na którym wyrysowane są znaki trzech religii. Obraz symbolizuje bezradność i bezsilność wynikającą z uwikłania w wojenne dramaty. Na swoim blogu zamieścił zrealizowany slajd show pt. „Przybądź do Ziemi Świętej”, w którym wykorzystał swoje obrazy wykonane na miechowskich plenerach. Dla widza są one wołaniem albo prośbą o modlitwę za pokój w Kurdystanie.

Shukr Saeed was born in the year 1979, and he lives in Erbil in Kurdistan on the current area of Iraq. In the year 2000, he graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Arbil. He is the director and editor of the magazine devoted to art and bearing the title “Shewakari”. In two issues (in the years 2009 and 2011), he published two reportages (each more than ten pages long) from the International Painting Outdoor Events “Colours of Lesser Poland”, in which he participated in the years: 2009, 2010 and 2012. He is against all kinds of violence, and, in particular, against wars fought for religious reasons, against the war that is affecting his country. In his painting activity, Shukr Saeed demonstrates his pacifistic attitude.

In one of his paintings, he shows crowds of uneducated people, enslaved by religion and misunderstanding the essence of it. In another one, bearing the title “Awaiting”, anonymous silhouettes waiting for light from heaven are shown, and in the painting “Enslavement” he depicts a veiled woman in the kneeling position and her back turned to the blackness of the sky on which the symbols of three religions are drawn.

The painting symbolizes helplessness and powerlessness resulting from becoming entangled in the dramatic events of war. In his blog, the artist placed a slide show bearing the title “Arrive in the Holy Land”, in which he used his paintings created at the outdoor events in Miechów. For the one looking at them, these are a call or request for prayer for peace in Kurdistan.

Dorota Sak w latach 1985–1990 studiowała w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych w Łodzi na Wydziale Włókienniczym. Dyplom z wyróżnieniem uzyskała w Katedrze Ubioru w roku 1990 i od tego czasu pracuje na macierzystej uczelni, obecnie na stanowisku profesora.

W latach 1999–2002 była członkiem Rady Wyższego Szkolnictwa Artystycznego przy Ministerstwie Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego. Zajmuje się malarstwem, sztuką włókna i projektowaniem ubioru, tworząc różnorodne cykle twórczych realizacji. Artystka nie stroni od nowoczesnych, konceptualnych kierunków, włączając się ze swoimi działaniami w ich nurt, ale nie poprzestaje na prezentowaniu intelektualnego charakteru swojej twórczości, wręcz przeciwnie. Ma bardzo wiele do zaoferowania widzowi oczekującemu na doznania estetyczne niewymagające głębokich analiz i zawodowego przygotowania do ich odczytywania. Jedne jej dzieła mają charakter czysto dekoracyjny, z innych emanuje głęboka analiza filozoficzna. Ważny jest dla niej również sam proces tworzenia i poszukiwania artystycznego wyrazu, który musi być spójny i harmonijny we wszystkich aspektach powstawania dzieła. Ważnym nurtem w jej sztuce, poruszającym temat sacrum, jest rozważanie zagadnień egzystencji oraz sensu umierania, który dotyka każdego człowieka, ale w zależności od kulturowych doświadczeń, różnie jest interpretowany i przekładany na własne symbole. Ecce homo (łac. oto człowiek, Jan 19,5) to motyw w sztuce chrześcijańskiej, przedstawiający ubiczowanego Chrystusa w koronie cierniowej, po który wciąż na nowo sięgają artyści, by wyrazić ten temat we własnych kategoriach odczuwania i obrazowania cierpienia.

Dorota Sak in the years 1985–1990 studied at the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Łódź, at the Faculty of Textile Design. She received her diploma with distinction at the Clothing Chair in the year 1990, and since that time on she has been working at her Alma Mater, currently serving in the capacity of a professor. In the years 1999–2002, she was a member of the Council of Higher Artistic Education appointed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. She is active in the field of painting, the art of fibre and designing clothes, creating various cycles of artistic projects. The artist does not shun the modern, conceptual directions of artistic activity, contributing by means of her activities to the mainstream of them, yet by no means does she confine herself to the presentation of the intellectual character of her activity.

Quite the opposite, in fact. There is a plentitude of what she has to offer for someone looking at them expecting aesthetical experiences not requiring in-depth analyses and educational background in order to interpret them. Some of her works of art are of purely decorative character, whereas others emanate a in-depth philosophical analysis.

For the artist, the process of creation and searching for the means of artistic expression itself is also of importance, and this expression has to be coherent and harmonious in all the aspects of the creation of a work of art. An important stream in her art, raising the subject of sacrum, is considering the issues of existence and also the meaning of dying, which affects every single man, but in dependence upon cultural experiences is interpreted differently and translated into one‛s own symbols. Ecce homo (meaning in the Latin language “Here is the Man”, John 19:5) is a motif in Christian art, showing flogged Christ in the crown of thorn, which is used by ever new artists in order to express this subject in their own categories of experiencing and the imagery of suffering.

Marek Sak urodził się w 1960 roku w Tarnowie.

W latach 1984–1989 studiował na Wydziale Grafiki w PWSSP (obecnie Akademia Sztuk Pięknych) w Łodzi. W roku 1989 uzyskał dyplom w Pracowni Technik Litograficznych. Obecnie pracuje w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. Władysława Strzemińskiego w Łodzi oraz w Uniwersytecie Łódzkim.

Zajmuje się malarstwem, grafiką i rzeźbą. Jest członkiem Stowarzyszenia Artystów św. Jerzego i Ogólnopolskiego Stowarzyszenia Twórczego „Wiklina”. Analizując malarstwo Marka Saka, koniecznie trzeba rozdzielić dwutorowość jego twórczości. Z jednej strony interesują go konkrety otaczającego świata, od erotyki aż po pejzaże ukazujące piękno polskiego krajobrazu. Z drugiej zaś, widać jego głębokie wnikanie w filozoficzne aspekty boskiego stworzenia. Malując „Przeddzień stworzenia” czy „Genesis”, zestawia obok siebie takie tematyczne skojarzenia jak wiara i zjawiskowość, a z formalnego punktu widzenia zgeometryzowane formy abstrakcyjnych wartości malarskich, wyrażające się w rytmach i kontrastach. Współistnienie tych elementów, łączenie ich w jedną całość, wymaga od artysty zagłębienia się w teologicznej literaturze w celu poznania doktryn religijnych, przekazywanych przez mity, księgi i wyznawców. Eksperymentalne, technologiczne tajniki budowania materii malarskiej, towarzyszące powstawaniu jego obrazów, umożliwiają tworzenie wielowarstwowych płaszczyzn wzajemnie się przenikających, które w efekcie końcowym porządkują chaos działań w logiczną konstrukcję eksponującą sprawczą ideę tworzenia.

Marek Sak was born in Tarnów in the year 1960.

In the years 1984–1989, he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Design of the State High School of Plastic Arts (currently, the Academy of Fine Arts) in Łódź. In the year 1989, he obtained a diploma at the atelier of Lithographical Techniques.

Currently, he works at the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, and also at the University of Łódź. He is involved in the activity in the field of painting, graphic design and sculpture. He is a member of Saint George Association of Artist and Polish Creative Association “Wiklina”. Analyzing the painting of Marek Sak, it is necessary to divide the two-directional character of his artistic creativity. On the one hand, he is interested in the tangible parts of the world surrounding him, commencing with erotic subjects and including landscape, showing the beauty of Polish landscape. On the other hand, in turn, one can see his deep research into the philosophical aspects of the Divine creation. Painting “The Eve of Creation” or “Genesis”, he collates next to each other such subjective associations as faith and phenomenal character, and from the formal point of view, the geometrized forms of abstract values of painting, expressed in rhythms and contrasts. The co-existence of these elements, combining them in one piece, requires of the artist to study in deep theological literature in order to make oneself acquainted with religious doctrines, passed on in myths, books and believers. Experimental, technological secrets of building matter of painting accompanying the creation of his paintings, make it possible to create the multi-layered plains pervading one another, which, as a final result, order the chaos of actions in a logical construction exhibiting the casual idea of creation.

Jest bardzo aktywnym artystą malarzem, realizującym swoje prace w technice olejnej i pastelowej, poszukującym najpełniejszej syntezy treści i formy w różnych sposobach obrazowania – od realistycznych inspiracji polskim pejzażem, poprzez jego syntezę, wkraczając do surrealizmu i wychylając się niekiedy w kierunku abstrakcji. Jest zaangażowany również w upowszechnianie różnych zjawisk w dziedzinie sztuki współczesnej. W roku 2012 wprowadził wystawę „Barwy Małopolski” dla Jana Pawła II do Muzeum Zamojskiego i nadał jej charakter „artystycznej modlitwy”. Na tej wędrującej wystawie Marek Sołowiej prezentuje dwa obrazy z cyklu: Psalmy przyszłości – „Pielgrzym Narodów Świata”. Ten cykl obejmuje jednak znacznie więcej obrazów, na których Jan Paweł II wyłania się z blokowisk, z murów miasta jako wędrowiec przemierzający wzdłuż i wszerz nasze ziemskie bytowanie. Wciąż niosąc nam nadzieję nadającą powagę i szlachetność naszemu życiu. W kontekście własnej twórczości, Marek Sołowiej napisał: „Rzeczywistość otaczająca współczesnego człowieka jest ciągle inna. Miejsce człowieka i związanych z nim jego problemów znajduje się jakby w kosmicznym stanie nieważkości. Siła przyciągania do stałego miejsca na ziemi jest malejąca, siła kontaktu z drugim jest słabsza, jesteśmy coraz dalej od siebie”.

Marek Sołowiej was born in Zamość. He is a graduate of the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in his hometown. He studied at the Institute of Artistic Education of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He received a diploma at the Atelier of Painting of Professor M. Stelmasik in the year 1981.

He is involved in artistic activity in the field of painting and drawing. He is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, and also the Association of Polish Pastellist. He is a very active artistic painter, creating his works with the use of oil and pastel techniques, looking for the most complete synthesis of the contents and form in the different manners of imagery – from realistic inspiration derived from Polish landscape through the synthesis of it, and entering the realm of surrealism and from time to time, venturing towards abstraction. He is involved as well in the popularization of different phenomena in the field of contemporary art. In the year 2012, he introduced the exhibition “Colours of Lesser Poland for John Paul II” into the Zamojskie Museum and gave her the character of “artistic prayer”. On this travelling exhibition, Marek Sołowiej presents two paintings from the cycle bearing the title Psalms of the Future – “Pilgrim of the Nations of the World”. This cycle includes, however, many more paintings, in which John Paul II emerges from the areas of blocks of flats, from the walls of a city, as a traveller, pacing our earthly existence to and through, still carrying the hope which is giving our life seriousness and noble character. In the context of his own artistic activity, Marek Sołowiej wrote: “The reality surrounding a contemporary man is constantly different. The place of a man problems connected with him is situated in a kind of cosmic state of zero-gravity. The force of gravity to a permanent place on Earth is decreasing, and the force of contacts with a fellow human being is weaker, and we are ever farther from one another.”

Alberto Spaziani urodził się we włoskiej miejscowości Frosinone, gdzie nadal mieszka i pracuje.

Po ukończeniu nauki w szkole „Leonardo da Vinci” oraz studiach akademickich w Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, zdobywał zawodowe doświadczenia w dziedzinie nauczania, realizując również własną działalność artystyczną. Jest też bardzo zaangażowany w działalność społeczną. Przeprowadził osobiście wiele akcji i inicjatyw mających na celu wzmocnienie rozwoju kultury w swojej prowincji. W 1971 roku czynnie włączył się do walki o ochronę miejsc pracy, organizując we współpracy z komitetem pracowników i intelektualistów wystawę obrazów w fabryce della Metalfer-Fias. Tym manifestem zwrócił uwagę na rolę artysty w kontekście dzisiejszej rzeczywistości społecznej. Zrealizował wiele wystaw w różnych gminach Prowincji Frosinone, koncentrując się na kwestiach ochrony środowiska. Jako Prezes Stowarzyszenia Kulturalnego „Centro Intervento Arte Pubblica e Popolare” inicjował bardzo ciekawe działania kulturalne w Provincia di Frosinone. Brał udział w wystawie „Światło i kolor regionu Ciociaria” zorganizowanej w fabryce Fiata, uczestniczył w wystawie „Urojone kształty i kolory”. Jest zwolennikiem ruchu głoszącego, że wszystko we wszechświecie jest okrągłe. Element koła czy kuli jest więc częstym motywem jego prac plastycznych. W 1995 roku Alberto zrealizował film o rzece Costa. Ten temat, poruszający zagadnienia ekologiczne, był również inspiracją do serii jego prac malarskich.

Alberto Spaziani was born in the Italian settlement unit of Frosinone, where he still lives and works. After completing his education at school “Leonardo da Vinci” and also tertiary studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, he gained professional experiences in the field of teaching, conducting with determination his own artistic activity as well. He is also greatly involved in social activity. He has conducted personally plenty of actions and initiatives, aiming at strengthening the development of culture in his province. In the year 1971, he became an active participant of fighting for keeping jobs, organizing in collaboration with the committee of employees and intellectualists the exhibition paintings in the factory della Metalfer-Fias. By means of this manifestation, he attracted the attention to the role of an artist in the context of the contemporary reality of society. He has prepared plenty of exhibitions in the different communes of the Province of di Frosinone, concentrating upon the issues of the protection of the environment. As the Chairm of the Cultural Association “Centro Intervento Arte Pubblica e Popolare”, he initiated very interesting cultural activities in the Province of di Frosinone. He has participated in the exhibition “Light and Colour of the Region of Ciociaria” organized in the factory of Fiat, and has participated in the exhibition “Imagined Shapes and Colours”. He is a supporter of the movement advocating that all that exists in the universe is round. The element of wheel or sphere is, therefore, a frequent motif of plastic works. In the year 1995, Alberto created a film about the River Costa. This subject raising the issues of ecology, was an inspiration for the series of painting works as well.

Stanisław Sacha Stawiarski urodził się w 1941 roku na ziemi miechowskiej, gdzie spędził dzieciństwo, obserwując rozległe przestrzenie pagórkowatych pól. Edukację artystyczną rozpoczął w Państwowym Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Krakowie, tam też studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w pracowni prof. H. Rudzkiej-Cybisowej, gdzie w roku 1969 na Wydziale Malarstwa uzyskał dyplom z wyróżnieniem. W roku 1970 wyjechał do Paryża i odbył roczne studia w paryskiej École des Beaux Arts. W 1973 roku został członkiem ZPAP w Krakowie, a w 1975 Związku Artystów Malarzy w Saint-Tropez. Od roku 1977 należy do Francuskiego Związku Artystów. Szereg lat pracował w Paryżu, obecnie mieszka w Ramatuelle w pobliżu Saint‑ -Tropez, a od 1992 roku (przemiennie) również w Michałowicach w Kotlinie Kłodzkiej. Malarstwo Sachy Stawiarskiego wypełnione jest kolorami znad Lazurowego Wybrzeża. Gorące barwy niosą ogromną energię i są adresowane do widza, który pragnie słońca i radości życia. Wpływ Akademii Paryskiej na jego twórczość objawia się właśnie w kolorystyce czystych impresjonistycznych barw, ale także w uproszczonych, zgeometryzowanych formach. Krakowska ASP i kultura polska, w pojęciu ogólnym, też wycisnęły piętno w jego spostrzeganiu świata, które również widoczne jest w malowanych przez niego obrazach. Objawia się ono w pewnej powściągliwości tematycznej, właściwej dla natury polskiego intelektualisty wychowanego w domu, gdzie, jak mówi artysta, nie o wszystkim wypada zbyt swobodne opowiadać.

Stawiarski lubi się bawić kolorem, ale jeśli trzeba dyscyplinuje paletę barwną, by w zawężonej gamie wyrazić smutek, nostalgię, a niekiedy nawet lęk. Potrafi też zagłębić się w poważnych twórczych rozmyślaniach malarskich, dotyczących np. sfery duchowości religijnej.

Stanisław Sacha Stawiarski was born in the land of Miechów in the year 1941. He spent his childhood there as well, observing the large spaces of hillock-located fields. His artistic education was commenced at the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Cracow. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the atelier of Professor H. Rudzka-Cybisowa, where in the year 1969, at the Faculty of Painting, he received a diploma with distinction. In the year 1970, he left for Paris and completed year-long studies at the Paris École des Beaux Arts. In the year 1973, he became a member of ZPAP in Cracow, and in the year 1975 of the Association of Artistic Painters in Saint-Tropez. Since the year 1977, he has been a member of the French Association of Artists. For several years, he worked in Paris, and currently he lives in Ramatuelle near Saint-Tropez, while since the year 1992 he has been spending alternative years in Michałowice in Kłodzka Valley as well.

The painting of Sacha Stawiarski is filled with colours from the French Rivera. Hot colours bring enormous energy, and are addressed to someone who is looking at them and who wants the sun and the joy of life. The influence of the School of Paris upon his artistic activity is revealed in nothing else, but in the colours of pure impressionist arrangements, but also in simplified, geometrized forms. The Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Polish culture in its general scope have also left a mark upon his perception of the world, which is as well visible in paintings created by him. It is revealed in certain temperance of subjects, typical of the nature of the Polish intellectualist, educated at home, where, as the artist says, not every subject was fit to talk about too freely. Stawiarski likes playing with a colour, but if there is such a need, he takes his palette of colours under control, so as to express sadness, nostalgia, and sometimes even fear with a narrowed set of colours.

He can also immerse himself in serious creative painting meditations, relevant to, for instance, the sphere of religious spirituality.

Władysław Szczepański urodził się w 1951 roku we Lwowie, gdzie odbył studia artystyczne w latach 1972–1977 na Wydziale Grafiki Wyższej Szkoły Poligraficznej. Dyplom z wyróżnieniem w zakresie grafiki uzyskał w roku 1977. Jest uczniem prof.

M. Gębarowicza. Bezpośrednio po studiach podjął pracę pedagogiczną, początkowo we Lwowie, a od 1989 w Kielcach. Obecnie jest profesorem zwyczajnym w Instytucie Sztuk Pięknych Akademii Świętokrzyskiej. Uprawia twórczość głównie w zakresie rysunku, ale realizuje także malarstwo i grafikę. We wczesnej twórczości Szczepański rysował w duchu realistycznym drzewa i pejzaże, później zrezygnował z obrazowania przyrody, całą uwagę skupiając na architekturze, syntetyzując ją i zawężając do bryłowatości budowli i wyszukanych detali architektonicznych. Jednak dobór obiektów, będących jego inspiracjami, jest bardzo starannie przemyślany. Temat sacrum w jego twórczości pojawia się sporadycznie, bo jest to ta sfera uczuciowości, którą artysta odsłania niezbyt chętnie.

W szczególnych sytuacjach jednak te bariery stają się nieistotne.

Władysław Szczepański was born in Ukraine in the 1951. He completed artistic studies in the years 1972–1977 at the Faculty of Graphic Design of the Higher Polygraphical School in Lviv. He received a diploma with distinction in the scope of graphic design in the year 1977. He is a disciple of Professor M. Gębarowicz. Immediately after studies, he commenced teaching career, initially in Lviv, and since the year 1989 in Kielce.

Currently, he is a full professor at the Institute of Fine Arts of Świętokrzyska Academy. He is active in the field of artistic activity mainly in the scope of drawing, but he creates painting and graphic designs as well. In his early artistic activity, Szczepański followed realistic spirit drawing trees and landscape. Later on, he gave up on the imagery of nature, concentrating his entire attention upon architecture, synthesizing it and narrowing to the lump-shape style of buildings and sophisticated architectural details. However, the choice of objects being his inspirations is very carefully considered. The subject of sacrum in his artistic activity appears sporadically, because it constitutes the sphere of emotions, in which the artist reveals his spirituality. In particular situations, however, these bariers become irrelevant.

Mirosław Szumerowski urodził się w 1973 roku w Miechowie. Dzieciństwo spędził w Książu Wielkim, gdzie ukończył szkołę podstawową. Jest absolwentem Zespołu Szkół Plastycznych w Kielcach. Studiował na Wydziale Historii w Akademii Pedagogicznej w Krakowie, gdzie w 1999 roku uzyskał dyplom. Po ukończeniu studiów wrócił do rodzinnego Książa i rozpoczął pracę w miejscowym gimnazjum jako nauczyciel historii i wychowania plastycznego. W latach 2000–2002 studiował na podyplomowym Wydziale Edukacji Artystycznej w Akademii Świętokrzyskiej w Kielcach. Wykłada historię i wiedzę o sztuce oraz prowadzi zajęcia z zakresu malarstwa i rysunku. Jego praca pedagogiczna owocuje dużą aktywnością dzieci i młodzieży uczestniczącej w konkursach plastycznych. W dziedzinie twórczości własnej Mirosław Szumerowski realizuje się w zakresie malarstwa olejnego, akwareli, tempery i rysunku. Chętnie sięga po miejscowe tematy, ukazując urokliwe pejzaże okolicy z architektonicznymi detalami kościółka, dzwonnicy lub górującego nad miasteczkiem zamku. Motywy pól i porośniętych trawami miedz, drzew i domów przeplatają się ze sobą, tworząc rozbudowane kompozycje.

Mirosław Szumerowski was born in Miechów in the year 1973. He spend his childhood in Książ Wielki, where he completed his primary education. He is a graduate of the Complex of Plastic Schools in Kielce. He studied at the Faculty of History in the Pedagogical Academy in Cracow, where in the year 1999 he received a diploma. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Książ and commenced work in the local middle school as a teacher of history and art. In the years 2000–2002, he studied at the post-graduate Faculty of Artistic Education of Świętokrzyska Academy in Kielce. He is a lecturer in history and of the knowledge of art, and also conducts classes in the scope of painting and drawing. His teaching work brings fruits of the substantial activity of children and young people participating in art competitions. In the field of his own artistic activity, Mirosław Szumerowski fulfills himself in the scope of oil painting, watercolour painting, tempera and drawing. He is willing to use local subjects, showing charming landscapes of the adjacent areas from architectural details of a small church, bell tower or a castle towering the small town. The motifs of fields and grass-covered balks, trees and homes mingle with one another, creating extended arrangements.

Marek Tomasik urodził się w 1942 roku w Krakowie. Studiował na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej, gdzie po uzyskaniu dyplomu podjął pracę dydaktyczną. Potem związał się z Państwową Wyższą Szkołą Sztuk Plastycznych w Łodzi. Kolejnym etapem w jego życiu zapoczątkowanym w 1975 roku była praca scenograficzna. W tej dziedzinie jego autorytetem był Andrzej Majewski. W łódzkim teatrze współpracował z Kazimierzem Dejmkiem. Projektował scenografie również dla takich teatrów, jak: Teatr Polski w Warszawie, Teatr Adama Mickiewicza w Częstochowie, Teatr Dramatyczny w Tarnowie, Teatr Lubuski w Zielonej Górze. Od 1995 roku pracuje jako projektant wnętrz, m.in. aranżował wnętrza Dworu w Tomaszowicach i Grand Hotelu w Krakowie.

Marek Tomasik was born in Cracow in the year 1942. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Cracow, where, after receiving a diploma, he started his teaching career. Afterwards, he became an employee of the State Higher School of Plastic Arts in Łódź. During the following stage of his life, commenced in the year 1975, he was working as a stage designer in various theatres.

In the theatre in Łódź, he collaborated with Kazimierz Dejmek. He has worked for such theatres, as: the Polish Theatre in Warszaw, Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Częstochowa, Ludwik Solski Drama Theatre in Tarnów and the Lubuski Theatre in Zielona Góra. Since the year 1995, he has been working as an interior designer. He is the author of interior designs, among others, in the Manor in Tomaszowice and in the Grand Hotel in Cracow.

Orest Tsyupko (Oрест Цюпко) urodził się w mieście Chust na Ukrainie w 1963 roku. Studiował w Lwowskim Państwowym Instytucie Sztuki Stosowanej i Sztuki Dekoracyjnej. Jest organizatorem międzynarodowych plenerów malarskich w Chust i uczestniczy w podobnych plenerach w Słowacji i Polsce oraz w innych krajach. „Podróże, podróże, podróże...” – to nazwa indywidualnej wystawy artysty znanego i cenionego w rodzinnym mieście, dyrektora Hustskoyi City Art Gallery zorganizowanej w 50. rocznicę jego urodzin. Zaprezentował na niej osiemdziesiąt obrazów, a to tylko niewielki wycinek jego twórczego dorobku. Jego malarstwo przedstawia świat w jasnych i czystych kolorach. Artysta ukazuje przyrodę i architekturę w delikatnych i subtelnych barwach, wyrażających miłość do kraju, w którym pracuje. Orestes Tsyupko maluje tylko takie obrazy, które, jak sam mówi, mają na celu stworzenie czegoś, co świat potrzebuje.

Orest Tsyupko (Oрест Цюпко) was born in the city of Chust in Ukraine in the year 1963. He studied at the Lviv State Institute of Applied Art and Decorative Art. He is the organizer of international painting outdoor events in Chust, and participates in similar outdoor events in Slovakia, in Poland and also in other countries. “Journeys, Journeys, Journeys...” is the title of the individual exhibition of this artist known and appreciated in his hometown, and the director of the Hustskoyi City Art Gallery Orest Tsyupko organized on the fiftieth anniversary of his birthday. At it, he presented eighty paintings, and these are only a small fraction of his creative output. His painting presents the world in light and easily visible colours. The artist presents nature and architecture in soft and subtle colours, expressing love of the country in which he works. Orest Tsyupko paints only this kind of paintings, which, as he says himself, the world needs.

Orest Tsyupko – Chust – UKRAINA

Jaroslav Uhel urodził się w 1954 roku w miejscowości Liptovský Mikuláš w Słowacji. Studiował na Uniwersytecie Macieja Bela w Bańskiej Bystrzycy, gdzie uzyskał tytuł doktora teorii sztuk wizualnych i kształcenia. Studiował również na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, w której uzyskał tytuł doktora sztuki, a następnie tytuł profesora. Pracuje jako pedagog na Uniwersytecie Macieja Bela w Bańskiej Bystrzycy. Uczestniczył w ponad dziewięćdziesięciu wystawach zbiorowych i zorganizował ponad trzydzieści wystaw indywidualnych. Znajduje czas na działalność publicystyczną, wydaje artykuły poświęcone sztuce plastycznej i teorii sztuki. Główną dziedziną jego twórczości jest malarstwo kameralne.

W twórczości podejmuje różne tematy. Interesują go rozważania religijne. Z obrazów Uhela emanuje zaduma. Wielopłaszczyznowość kompozycji stwarza wrażenie rozbudowanej akcji, przenikających się wątków, symbolicznych znaczeń. Posługiwanie się realistycznym rysunkiem, przy jednoczesnym kreowaniu abstrakcyjnych przestrzeni, pozwala na poetycko-literacki opis podejmowanych malarskich wyzwań. Ich tematem jest człowiek i wszechświat w sakralnym odczuwaniu jego istnienia.

Jaroslav Uhel was born in the year 1954 in the settlement unit of Liptovský Mikuláš in Slovakia.

He studied at Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, where he obtained the title of the Visual Art Theory and Education Ph.D. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw as well, at which he received a title of Art Ph.D., and, in the further course of his education, the one of a professor.

He works as a teacher at the Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. He has participated in more than ninety collective exhibitions and organized more than thirty individual ones. He manages to find time for journalist activity, issues articles devoted to plastic art and theory of art. The main field of his artistic activity is chamber painting. In his artistic activity, he works on various subjects.

He is interested in religious meditations, and his paintings emanate deep reflection. The multi-layered character of his arrangements makes the impression of extended action, pervading motifs and symbolical meanings. Using realistic drawing, while simultaneously creating abstract spaces, makes it possible for him to describe in a poetic and literature-style manner the challenges in the field of painting that he attempts to deal with. The subject of them is a man and the universe in the sacral perception of its existence.

Jaroslav Uhel – Bańska Bystrzyca – SŁOWACJA

Arkadiusz Waloch urodził się w 1932 roku w Poznaniu. W latach 1953–1955 studiował na Wydziale Grafiki w filii krakowskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach i malarstwo w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Dyplom w pracowni prof. E. Krchy uzyskał w 1961 roku. Od 1959 roku mieszka w Zakopanem. W 1961 roku podjął pracę w Państwowym Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych im. Antoniego Kenara w Zakopanem, gdzie prowadził pracownię rysunku i malarstwa. Przez dziesięć lat zasiadał w Zarządzie Okręgu ZPAP, a przez dwie kadencje był jego prezesem.

Wchodził też w skład Miejskiej Rady Narodowej w Zakopanem. W latach 1963–1972 kierował galerią „Pegaz”. Artysta posiada galerię autorską w Zakopanem. Uprawia malarstwo olejne, akwarelę i rysunek. Jego prace podziwiano na ponad czterdziestu wystawach indywidualnych oraz pięćdziesięciu zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą.

Swoją twórczość, od kilkudziesięciu już lat, traktuje jako możliwość podziwiania oraz dzielenia się swym zachwytem w portretowaniu Jana Pawła II, który jest dla niego prawdziwym i najważniejszym powodem podejmowania malarskich wyzwań.

Zrealizował wiele wystaw jemu poświęconych, jak np. „Papież Jan Paweł II. Malarski pamiętnik Arkadiusza Walocha”, „Z Ojcem Świętym – malarstwo i rysunek Arkadiusza Walocha”, „Jan Paweł II w malarstwie Arkadiusza Walocha”.

Arkadiusz Waloch was born in Poznań in the year 1932. In the years 1953–1955, he studied at the Faculty of Graphic Design in the branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in Katowice, and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He received a diploma at the atelier of Professor E. Krcha in the year 1961. Since the year 1959, he has been living in Zakopane. In the year 1961, he started work at the Antoni Kenar State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zakopane, where he conducted an atelier of drawing and painting. For nine years, he was a member of the Authority of the District in the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, and for two terms served as the Chairman of it. He also served in the City‛s National Council in Zakopane. In the years 1963– 1972, he managed the “Pegaz” gallery. The artist has his own gallery in Zakopane. He is active in the field of oil painting, watercolour painting and drawing. His works have been admired at more than forty individual exhibitions, and also fifty collective exhibitions, in Poland and in foreign countries. He has been treating his artistic activity for several decades already as the possibility of admiring and also sharing his admiration by means of portraying John Paul II, which is for him the real and the most important reason to undertake to cope with challenges in the field of painting. He has prepared plenty of exhibitions devoted to him, for instance, “Pope John Paul II. The Painter‛s Memoirs of Arkadiusz Waloch”, “With the Holy Father – Painting and Drawing of Arkadiusz Waloch”, “John Paul II in the Painting of Arkadiusz Waloch”.

Eugeniusz Waniek (1906–2009) urodził się w Ustrzykach Dolnych, u stop Karpat w południowo-wschodniej Polsce, gdzie spędził dzieciństwo. Studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Od 1946 roku był pedagogiem Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Krakowie, a w latach 1950–1977 wykładowcą w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Docent Eugeniusz Waniek, Profesor Honorowy Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie, był wieloletnim pracownikiem naukowo‑dydaktycznym Wydziału Malarstwa i Wydziału Konserwacji Dzieł Sztuki, gdzie pełnił obowiązki kierownika Katedry Kształcenia Ogólnoplastycznego. Był wybitnym artystą malarzem, grafikiem i scenografem, a także autorem licznych scenografii dla Teatru Młodego Widza. Należał do grupy formistów polskich. W trakcie studiów związał się z Grupą Krakowską, z którą wystawiał w 1934 roku w Krzemieńcu. Niemal do końca swego życia był czynny twórczo, będąc autorem licznych wystaw indywidualnych i uczestnikiem wielu wystaw zbiorowych. Ostatnio zaprezentował swe rysunki na przełomie lat 2007/2008 na wystawie „Mój Kraków” w Pawilonie Wyspiańskiego.

W styczniu 1998 roku, Muzeum Historyczne Miasta Krakowa zorganizowało jego dużą retrospektywną wystawę obrazów i rysunków. Za swą działalność odznaczony został m.in. Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Odrodzenia Polski, Złotym Krzyżem Zasługi, Złotą Odznaką Gloria Artis.

Eugeniusz Waniek (1906–2009) was born in Ustrzyki Dolne at the footsteps of the Carpathian Mountains in the south-east part of Poland, where he spent his childhood. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Since the year 1946, he was a teacher at the Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Cracow, and in the years 1950– 1977 a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts. Docent Eugeniusz Waniek the honorary professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, was for many years a member of research and teaching staff of the Faculty of Painting and the Faculty of Art Conservation, at which he served in the capacity of the acting director of the Chair of General Plastic Education. He was an outstanding artistic painter, graphic designer and stage designer. He was the author of numerous stage designs for the Theatre of Young Spectator. He was a member of the group of Polish formists. In the course of his studies, he became involved in the activity of the Cracow Group together with which he exhibited his works in Krzemieniec in the year 1934. Nearly to the very end of his life, he remained active as an artist; he was the author of numerous individual exhibitions and a participant of numerous collective exhibitions.

Recently, he presented his drawings at the turn of 2007/2008 at the exhibition: “My Cracow” at the Wyspiański Pavilion. In January 1998, the Historical Museum of the City of Cracow organized his large retrospective exhibition of paintings and drawing. For his activity, he was awarded, among others, Knight‛s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Gold Cross of Merit and the Gold Badge Gloria Artis.

Antoni Wróblewski urodził się na Podlasiu w Platerowie, gdzie spędził swoje dzieciństwo. Studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie w pracowniach prof. E. Markowskiego i prof.

S. Poznańskiego. Dyplom otrzymał w pracowni grafiki artystycznej prof. H. Chrostowskiej. Od roku 1995 corocznie jest kuratorem Międzynarodowych Plenerów Malarskich „Sztuka bez granic” organizowanych przez Dom Pracy Twórczej „Reymontówka”. Mieszka w Siedlcach. Zajmuje się grafiką, akwarelą i malarstwem strukturalnym. Stara się być jak najbliżej natury. Opracował sobie tylko znaną technikę malowania ziemią, co pozwala mu na traktowanie jej jako farb o bogatej gamie kolorystycznej. Malując ziemią, Wróblewski wkomponowuje w obrazy również mniejsze i większe kamyki, które natura może zamienić w pył, bo gleba powstaje właśnie ze skały macierzystej pod wpływem czynników glebotwórczych. Ziemia, po której stąpamy, którą uprawiamy, by wydała plony potrzebne do utrzymania ciągłości życia, dla Wróblewskiego ma wymiar sakralny – dosłownie i w twórczej interpretacji. Najbardziej wymownym przykładem jest cykl obrazów, który nosi tytuł „Monstrancje polne”. Monstrancja to naczynie liturgiczne służące do umieszczania w nim konsekrowanej Hostii, celem wystawiania jej na ołtarz podczas nabożeństw. W wierze katolickiej konsekrowana Hostia jest uobecnieniem Chrystusa, Boga-człowieka. Monstrancje malowane ziemią, w kontekście religijno-filozoficznym, kojarzą się ze słowami: „Prochem jesteś i w proch się obrócisz”.

Antoni Wróblewski was born in Platerów in Podlasie, where he spent his childhood. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, at the ateliers of Professor E. Markowski and Professor S. Poznański. He received a diploma at the atelier of artistic graphic design of Professor H. Chrostowska. Since the year 1995, he has been the annual curator of the International Painting Outdoor Events “Art without Frontiers”, organized by the Centre of Creative Work “Reymontówka”. He lives in Siedlce. He is active as a graphic designer, watercolour painter and structural painter. He tries to be as close to the nature as it is possible. He developed the technique of painting with the use of soil, known only to himself, which makes it possible for him to treat it as paints of a rich array of colours. Painting with the use of soil, Wróblewski arranges into his paintings as well smaller and larger pebbles, which nature can turn into dust because soil is formed out of its native rock under the influence of soil-creative factors. The earth on which we tread, which we cultivate to make it bring crops needed to sustain the continuity of life, for Wróblewski has a sacral dimension – literally and in his creative interpretation. The most expressive instance of that is the cycle of paintings, which bears the title “Field Monstrances”. Monstrance is a liturgical utensil serving for placing the consecrated Body of Christ in it so as to place it upon the altar in course of holy services. According to Catholic religion, consecrated Body of Christ is the personification of Christ, God and Man. Monstrances painted with soil in the religious-philosophical context are associated with the words: “For you are dust, and to dust you shall return”.

Ireneusz Wrzesień urodził się w 1942 roku w powiecie miechowskim. W 1964 roku ukończył studia na Wydziale Historii w Wyższej Szkole Pedagogicznej w Krakowie. Od 1982 roku jest członkiem ZPAP. Jest współzałożycielem i późniejszym prezesem Stowarzyszenia Twórców Sztuk Plastycznych „Sztuka Podhalańska” w Zakopanem.

Od 1970 roku czynnie uczestniczy w życiu kulturalnym regionu. Przez wiele lat pełnił funkcję dyrektora, a potem wicedyrektora zakopiańskiego Państwowego Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych im. Antoniego Kenara. Mieszka w Białym Dunajcu. Ireneusz Wrzesień uprawia malarstwo, w którym rysunek odgrywa ważną rolę. Tematyka jego obrazów inspirowana jest górami, które podziwia każdego dnia z okien swojego domu.

Maluje szczyty gór, wartkie potoki i drzewa w naturalnym krajobrazie. Intryguje go nadprzyrodzona zjawiskowość przyrody, snujące się mgły i przedzierające się przez nie światło, burzowe chmury rozdzierające niebo i surrealistyczne wizje miast zatopionych w tajemniczym blasku płomienistej zorzy.

Ireneusz Wrzesień was born in Miechów country in the year 1942. In the year 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Higher Pedagogical College in Cracow. Since the year 1982, he has been a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. He was the co-founder, and, in the further course, the Chairman of the Association of Plastic Artists “Sztuka Podhalańska” in Zakopane. Since the year 1970, he has been an active participant of the cultural life of his region. For many years, he was serving as the Director, and in the further course of his career, as the Vice-Director of the Antoni Kenar State Secondary School of Plastic Arts in Zakopane. He lives in Biały Dunajec. Ireneusz Wrzesień is active in the field of painting, in which drawing plays an important role. The subjects of his paintings are inspired by the mountains, which he admires every day, looking out of the windows of his house. He paints mountain peaks, rapid streams and trees in a natural landscape. He is intrigued by the supernaturally phenomenal character of nature, widely spreading mists and light forcing its way through them, storm clouds tearing the sky apart and the surrealistic visions of cities submerged in mysterious shining of a fiery Northern Lights.

Iwona Wyszatycka ukończyła studia na Wydziale Sztuk Pięknych Uniwersytetu im. Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu. Dyplom ze specjalizacją konserwator-muzeolog uzyskała w 1979 roku. W tymże roku podjęła pracę w Muzeum Mazowieckim w Płocku, gdzie pracowała do 2009, przez wiele lat jako starszy kustosz i kierownik Działu Sztuki.

Wyszatycka to główna współautorka scenariusza nowej ekspozycji secesji i jej aranżacji w muzeum w Płocku (2005). Autorka wielu wystaw, a także scenariuszy wystaw secesji w kraju i za granicą oraz tekstów do katalogów i albumów dotyczących zbiorów secesji w Płocku, m.in. „Malarstwo polskie 1890–1914”, „Secesja ze zbiorów Muzeum Mazowieckiego w Płocku” i innych. Autorka scenariusza wieloodcinkowego filmu oświatowego o secesji dla TVP Polonia w reżyserii Wojciecha Majewskiego. Równocześnie z pracą zawodową zajmuje się twórczością artystyczną. Jest członkiem Stowarzyszenia Pastelistów Polskich. Brała udział w licznych wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych, także w ogólnopolskich plenerach, a ostatnio na wyspie Syros w Grecji. Uprawia pastel, akwarelę i batik.

Iwona Wyszatycka graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. She received her diploma in the year 1979, specializing as a conservationist and expert in museums. In this same year, she commenced her work at the Mazovian Museum in Płock, the employee of which she remained until the year 2009, for several years serving in the capacity of a senior custodian and the manager of the Department of Art. She was the main co-authoress of the scenario of the new exhibition devoted to Art Nouveau and her arrangement in the museum in Płock (2005). She is the authoress of numerous exhibitions, and also the scenarios of exhibitions devoted to Art Nouveau in Poland and in foreign countries, as well as texts for catalogues and albums concerning the collections of Art Nouveau in Płock, among others, “Polish Painting 1890–1914”, “Art Nouveau in the collections of the Mazovian Museum in Płock” and other. The authoress of the script of a multi-episode educational film about the art of Secession for TVP Polonia, directed by Wojciech Majewski.

Simultaneously with her professional work, she is involved in artistic activity. She is a member of the Association of Polish Pastellist. She has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions, and also in nationwide outdoor events, and recently the one on the island of Syros in Greece. She uses the following techniques: pastel, watercolour painting and batik.

Iwona Wyszatycka – Płock – POLSKA

Józef Zelek urodził się w 1955 roku w Limanowej.

Dzieciństwo spędził w Laskowej, później wyjechał do Krakowa, gdzie ukończył Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych, w którym malarstwa nauczał go S. Rodziński. Studiował na Wydziale Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. W 1980 roku uzyskał dyplom z wyróżnieniem w pracowni prof. W. Buczka i prof. Z. Grzywacza.

Po studiach pozostał w Krakowie, jednak często odwiedzał rodzinne strony. „Pracował dużo i z zapamiętaniem, był na swój sposób dowcipny, zaskakujący w wypowiedziach. Ale sympatię i szacunek wzbudził wśród rówieśników dzięki swej pracy malarskiej, dzięki wnikliwości, z jaką patrzył na świat, dzięki codziennej pracy w szkicownikach, która dawała bardzo dobre rezultaty” – napisał w jednej z biografii prof. Stanisław Rodziński.

Józef Zelek przygotowywał bogatą wystawę malarstwa, której tematem miały być przydrożne kapliczki z rejonu limanowskiego, niestety nieoczekiwana, przedwczesna śmierć w 2010 roku udaremniła jego plany. Zdążył namalować blisko dwadzieścia obrazów z tego cyklu.

W obrazie „Magiczny Kraków” widzimy na pierwszym planie ptaki. W tle groźny zarys wawelskiej architektury, wtopionej pomiędzy drapieżne drzewa w tej samej, ciemnej tonacji. Ptaki nadrealistycznych rozmiarów dzielą się na dwie grupy: ziemskie i niebiańskie. Sacrum w jego sztuce było często obecne. Można nawet powiedzieć, że duchowość artysty wypełniona była ciągłym rozmyślaniem o Stwórcy.

Józef Zelek was born in Limanowa in the year 1955. He spent his childhood in Laskowa, and later left for Cracow, where he completed his education at the State Secondary School of Plastic Arts, at which he was taught painting by Stanisław Rodziński. He studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In the year 1980, he received a diploma with distinction at the atelier of Professor Włodzimierz Buczek and Professor Zbylut Grzywacz. After tertiary education, he remained in Cracow, however, he would frequently visit the area from which he came. He was preparing a rich exhibition of painting the subject of which was to be roadside chapels from the area of and near Limanowa, unfortunately, unexpected and premature death prevented his plans from ever being fulfilled. He only had time to paint nearly twenty paintings from this cycle. He died a sudden death in the year 2010. “He worked a lot and with zeal, and he a witty person, surprising in his utterances, in his own manner. Yet, he awoke liking and respect amongst his peers thanks to his activity in the field of painting, thanks to his insightfulness with which he looked at the world, thanks to his daily work in sketch-books, which gave very good results” – wrote Professor Stanisław Rodziński in one of his biographies. In the painting “Magical Cracow”, we can see birds in the foreground. In the background, there is the ominous skyline of the architecture of Wawel, ingrained between predator-like trees in this same dark set of colours. The birds of supernatural sizes are divided into two groups: earthly and heavenly. Sacrum was frequently present in his art. It can even be said that the spirituality of this artist was filled with constant reflections devoted to the Creator.
