Children Storytimes WEEKLY STORYTIMES RUN JANUARY 22 — APRIL 26. No storytimes March 12 - 16 during Spring Break.
RHYME TIME Introduce your child to the sound and rhythm of words and simple concepts through rhymes, songs and fingerplays. Duration: 20 - 25 minutes. For newborns to 24 months + a caregiver. No registration is required for any of our storytimes, but space may be limited. For some storytimes, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis beginning 15 minutes before the program begins. See details in the descriptions. FAMILY STORYTIME Bring the whole family for an evening storytime. Stories, songs and fingerplays will be geared towards preschoolers but siblings and parents are welcome. Please note: stories will be the same as On My Own Storytime. Duration: 30 minutes. For 3 to 5-year-olds and their families. For a small fee you can stay for a special Me & Mini Me Swim. Storytime duration: 30 minutes. In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center. TAPE TOWN (WITH PREHISTORIC TIME TUNNEL) Stop by with your favorite toy car or truck to zoom around our library Tape Town. Make various pit stops along the way to mail a letter at the post office, deposit money at the bank, work out at the gym, and new this session a time tunnel to a prehistoric world of dinosaurs! Take this fun class where you’ll learn how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. This class will discuss information on how to set up a babysitting business, what to do with behavioral issues, how to be a successful babysitter and child care essentials. Local musicians Victor & Penny and the Loose Change Orchestra will join Amram. David Amram has composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber works and collaborated with authors, musicians, playwrights, film directors and poets including Jack Kerouac, Langston Hughes, Dizzy Gillespie, Pete Seeger, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Elia Kazan, Arthur Miller and W.H. THE A. J. YOUNG TRIO A.J. Young started his musical career as a rapper, but he soon picked up an acoustic guitar and became fascinated with crafting songs. Young opened for The Fray at Starlight Theater in 2014, won first place in Drake’s Artist on the Verge competition in 2012, and first place in the Sing Like John Mayer contest in 2010. He plays fingerstyle and bottleneck blues guitar, banjo and spoons. Rhonda Rucker, a musician, children's author, storyteller and songwriter, plays blues-style harmonica, piano, old-time banjo and bones.
