Star Checklist For Oklahoma City University Transfer Students

BLUELINK

Log into BlueLink and set up your student email account.

BlueLink* is your online information link to the university. This area gives you important information about your OCU student email account, enrollment, financial aid, announcements, and more.

Additionally, important information and notices will be sent via your OCU student email account.

Visit bluelink.okcu.edu regularly to ensure that you do not miss any important information or deadlines. *If you want to reset your BlueLink password, please set up your security profile by visiting password.okcu.edu.

FAFSA

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Visit fafsa.ed.gov to complete the FAFSA online. The FAFSA is available October 1 and priority consideration for financial assistance is given to students who submit the FAFSA by March 1.

Before you submit the FAFSA you need to register for the FSA ID, which replaced the FAFSA PIN in May 2015. The FSA ID allows you to electronically sign the FAFSA. You can register for a FSA ID at studentaid.gov/FSAID. If Student Financial Services needs any additional paperwork, you will receive an email through your OCU email account prompting you to log into your BlueLink account to view additional requirements.

Financial aid packages are mailed to students who have completed all their financial aid paperwork.

Financial aid packages detail merit-based aid, need-based aid, and federal aid. State aid is included as an estimate until funds are received by the state.

OCU’s FAFSA school code is 003166.

HOUSING

Apply for university housing.

Students who are under 21 years of age are required to live on campus. Exceptions are made for those students who choose to live at home. You can apply for housing online at okcu.edu/ residencelife. You will use your BlueLink User ID and password to log in to the housing application.

Along with the housing application and questionnaire, there is a non-refundable housing fee.

The housing application opens on November 1. You are encouraged to apply early for housing.

DOCUMENTS

Submit final documents.

If you have completed any coursework since starting your application, please have your school(s) send us your final transcript(s). To be considered official, your transcript must be sent directly from your school to our office. OCU accepts transcripts electronically if the institution participates with a secure online service. If you have AB, IB, or CLEP scores, please send the official scores to OCU. To determine what credits will transfer or to submit additional coursework for credit, visit our Transfer Evaluation Submission System (TESS) at secure.okcu.edu/registrar/tess.

The Campus Health Center requires an immunization record on file before beginning classes.

You can mail, fax, or email a copy of your immunization record to the address below. Please be sure to include your name, student ID number, and date of birth on the records.

INSURANCE

Apply for Student Health Insurance Plan or Waiver

Oklahoma City University requires that all students maintain student health insurance coverage as a condition of enrollment. The insurance fee for the Oklahoma City University SHIP (Student Health Insurance Plan) is automatically billed to your student account each semester.

If you already have health insurance coverage that meets the university’s requirements, there is a SHIP waiver available, which will allow you to waive the university’s SHIP and maintain your current insurance coverage.

HOUSING FOR UPPERCLASSMEN Oklahoma City University upperclassmen have several on-campus living options. United Methodist Hall and Cokesbury Court offer fully furnished apartment-style living with the convenience of being on campus. Amenities include the security of a gated, on-campus community with card-key entry activated by your Student ID card, laundry services, and on-site parking. Additionally, Cokesbury Court features an outdoor swimming pool and

STUDENT DISABILITY SERVICES Campus Disability Services is located in the Dulaney-Browne Library in room 106C. We are dedicated to providing for the needs of students, staff, and OCU patrons who have disabilities.

Reasonable modifications in the classroom, campus housing, the cafeteria, as well as other facilities around campus will be provided for students with documented disabilities. Assistive technology for those with vision impairments and learning disabilities is also available. Students with disabilities who wish to access these services must initiate their request by contacting the Campus Disability Services office.

LEARNING ENHANCEMENT CENTER (LEC) The Learning Enhancement Center offers a variety of services at no cost to students. These services include: one-on-one tutoring in many areas of curriculum, tutoring to improve grammar skills, critiquing and guided revision for papers, tutoring to improve reading and study skills, computer access to write and print papers, and internet access for research and email.

VETERANS’ SERVICES Oklahoma City University works tirelessly to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans by offering robust, individually-tailored veterans’ services. Recognition of Course Credit for CLEP and DANTES Incoming veterans may receive course credit through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) as well as through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support (DANTES).

Personal Counseling Veterans may receive four to six confidential personal counseling sessions with a professional counselor certified by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to provide training in suicide prevention, QPR, and mental health first aid.
