Each student in the BATIE program will design a unique plan of study, which means that possibilities for the degree are endless! Here are a few of the paths open to BATIE students, though there are many more: Directing, Dramaturgy, Children’s Theatre, Arts Administration, Theatre Teacher Certification, Scriptwriting, BA Theatre/BA Film, or Double Major in many other subjects.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
Students in the BATIE program can earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in either four or five years depending on their course of study and how many credits they complete before enrolling at OCU. Students can also complete an undergraduate certificate in Nonprofit Leadership-Arts Administration as a part of their BA.
PRODUCTION PARTICIPATION AND PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS
BATIE students have the opportunity to be involved in productions on campus in many capacities and can start working on productions as soon as their first year. BATIE students may also have the opportunity to work on productions with the School of Theatre’s professional partners in Oklahoma City including Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, OKC Rep, and more!

MAINSTAGE
TheatreOCU Mainstage provides opportunities for students to collaborate with professional theatre artists from a variety of disciplines to produce entertaining, engaging, provocative, and inclusive theatre representing a wide range of styles and genres. School of Theatre students can also audition for Mainstage opera/music theater productions in conjunction with the Wanda L. Bass School of Music as well as co-productions with our professional partners.
Studio Series
OUT OF THE BOX
Stripped
The Studio Series encourages creativity and exploration in a practical learning environment. Prioritizing process over production values, the Studio Series utilizes minimal design and technical elements while providing student and faculty artists the opportunity to hone their skills as storytellers.
Out of the Box is our student-led and operated theatre company aimed at exposing students to the realities of producing. Out of the Box features student selected titles produced exclusively with student directors and performers. Out of the Box also produces the OCU Improv Troupe which holds frequent late-night comedy shows throughout the year.
Stripped is a student-run organization mounting musical productions every year. The studio productions are fully staged and memorized but “stripped” down to the storytelling essentials. Staged in two weeks, these productions provide a unique production experience for OCU students.
SENIOR SHOWCASES
NEW YORK CITY
The Wanda L. Bass School of Music and School of Theatre bring a casting director and agent from New York to audition all of our graduating seniors. Those chosen for the showcase spend the spring semester rehearsing a one-hour performance featuring songs and scenes. Those students travel to New York to perform in front of casting directors, talent agents, producers, and other industry professionals.
LOS ANGELES
Graduating students have the opportunity to perform in front of leading agents, managers, and casting directors. During the week-long professional preparation trip students participate in performances, casting workshops, masterclasses, industry panels, and on-camera acting masterclasses taught by leading LA artists.
CHICAGO
The School of Theatre invites a half dozen casting professionals (casting directors, agents, artistic directors) from prominent Chicago area theatres to campus. Our graduating seniors meet with, audition for, take workshops from, and get personalized feedback from these guests. Thus, when they arrive in Chicago, our actors are on a first-name basis with a large number of important industry professionals.
DALLAS
The School of Theatre partners with a number of prominent casting authorities from Dallas for extensive workshops and auditions for the graduating seniors.
ATLANTA
Our new and fifth showcase hosts professional artists, talent agents and casting directors from the expanding film and television industry in Atlanta, GA. These industry professionals will work one on one and give feedback to our graduating seniors who are ready to break out in this new market.

I chose OCU because I wanted expansive training in different areas, opportunities to try everything, and adequate preparation for the current industry as much as possible. I found all these things and more at OCU! Not only are the professors supportive and encouraging, but they can offer perspectives as currently working actors. During my time at OCU, I got to study abroad in both Italy and China, work at several professional theaters in the OKC area, direct a play, design props for a play, and perform in several productions. Above all, I feel well informed and confident in where I fit in today’s industry. I couldn’t have asked for a better system to prepare for life post-graduation!

FAST-TRACK BFA/BA TO MA IN ARTS ADMINISTRATION
Exciting new program for BFA Theatre Design & Production and BA Theatre Innovation & Entrepreneurship students. The Fast-Track BFA/ BA to MA program can be completed in as little as 4 years. All classes are asynchronous online to allow students the most flexibility. Classes are offered in 8-week blocks. Students will begin taking MA classes in their junior year. The senior year would include all final undergraduate courses along with advised graduate courses. This program will accelerate OCU students along their path toward arts organization leadership.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• No entrance exam!

• Current resume
• Transcript from all previous institutions
• One letter of recommendation
• A brief statement of intent for pursuing the MA
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Students need to have 12 transfer credit hours prior to entrance in order to complete the program in 4 years
• 4+1 option also available
