The Y provides a supportive environment for families of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities where people can meet their health and well-being goals through exercise, nutrition, and healthy living programs designed to combat chronic disease.

EMPOWERING CHANGEMAKERS

250 Youth & Government Participants in 15 Local Clubs

YMCA Youth and Government (YAG) involves teens in a state-organized, model government program designed to promote civic engagement and teach the meaning of social action through experience.

Volunteers support the Y’s mission to strengthen the foundations of community through coaching, teaching classes, and serving as mentors. A volunteer Board leads the direction of each Y’s community work.

STRENGTHENING SENIORS

10,600 Seniors 65+ served through membership

Louisiana Y programs help prevent social isolation in older adults by allowing them to connect to and engage in meaningful activities. Small lifestyle changes such as increasing physical activity, eating healthier, and staying active can help older adults live better.

WATER SAFETY

5,161 Kids served through Safety Around Water Programs

6,306 Kids enrolled in Y Swim Lessons

The Y is committed to keeping the kids in our community safe in and around water. Louisiana YMCAs partner with school districts, parish and city government, and other youth serving organizations to provide no-cost safety around water classes designed to reduce the risk of drowning and give kids confidence in and around water.

BUILDING CAREERS

1,754 Louisianans employed at 18 locations

The Y employs neighbors to help neighbors. Louisiana YMCAs employ thousands of full-time, part-time , and seasonal staff -many of them youth in their fi rst workforce experience.

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

$2.1 million in financial assistance

The Y is for all. Thanks to the donations of our generous community members, we are able to offer direct financial assistance to individuals, children, and families so they can participate in programs that enhance their health and wellbeing. YMCA child care assistance scholarships allow families to go to work knowing their children are safe and receiving quality care.
