The Jura house semester project was a structure we were to create based off of another famous architectural home. The home I chose was Sco Donald’s Jura house located in Lancashire, UK. I loved this home because despite its clean and crisp aesthe c, the home has a bit of a so ness to it because of the surrounding landscape. He used majority earth toned materials to blend the contemporary home in with the countryside.
The floor plan was designed in autocad and edited in photoshop. The 3D models were rendered in sketchup and twinmo on.
A house or a home or a home in a house or both...In the home project, my assigned client is an art dealer and colector. She is a single african woma in her late twen es, and is a well known figure in the contemporary art world. She would like a clean and simple look, a room dedicated to art and collected items and, views to the pond in the living space. My client lives with her mother and younger sister, and so she requested for a three bed and bath. The house is located in Ellenbrook fields, Ha ield. The site use to be flat but is now uneven and clayey/ loamy.
In the essay and collage project, my task was to produce a 1000 word Harvard-referenced essay which inculded a bibliography of atleast 10 sources. In the design component of my essay (the collage), I was to produce a single image, A4 format, that condenses the topic and ideas explored in my essay. In my project, I focused on the ques on of modernism and its relevance today and as a response, I presented the five points of Le Corbusier as an element of Modernism which s ll echoes in contemporary architecture. My collage consists of Le Corbusier himself and some architectural buildings that were influenced by his “Five Points”.
