stockholmfurniturefair.com stockholmdesignweek.com

Welcome to join the 2018’s edition of Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair organized its first fair in 1951. Since then Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair has grown into what is considered as one of the top-notch furniture fairs in Europe. More than 700 companies, of which 300 are international, gather to present their latest news within furniture and lighting design in the beautiful capital of Scandinavia each year in February. Eighty percent of the exhibitors come from the Nordic region, a fact that attracts over 40 000 buyers, architects and design professionals from the entire world. We have press coverage from over 1 100 journalists, of which more than 300 are international journalists. Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair runs in parallel with Stockholm Design Week, which functions as a meeting place for the industry outside of the fair’s halls. It is also a party for all the design-lovers out there, since many of the exhibitions are open to the general public.

Exhibitions & Activities Guest of Honour

Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks

Every year we invite a highly acclaimed international designer or design studio to create an installation in the entrance hall. Throughout the years we have had Jaime Hayón, Barber & Osgerby, Patricia Urquiola, Ilse Crawford, Giulio Cappellini and Oki Sato/Nendo as Guests of Honour, to name a few.

Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks is our forum for knowledge and discussions within the area of design and architecture. The Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks Program offers a mix of trend lectures, panel discussions and relevant debates held by well-respected firms and high-profiled guests from around the world.

Trend Exhibition

Editors’ Choice

The Trend Exhibition is a where a Nordic designer, or group of designers presents the most recent trends with a focus on materials, colours and shapes. One of Sweden´s leading interior stylists, Lotta Agaton, was invited to design the Trend Exhibition 2017/18.

Editors’ Choice is Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s award which is handed out to the fair’s Best Stand, Best Product and Rising Star. The Jury consists of Editors-in-chief from some of Europe’s most influential design forums. In addition to the honour of winning, the winners receive a statue designed by Swedish designer Lisa Hilland. The award ceremony takes place on the Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks stage on the second day of the Fair.

Design Bar The Design Bar is a cross between an exhibition and a world-class restaurant. Every year a new designer/chef duo is given the assignment to create the Design Bar. Previous Design Bars have been the work of the architecture firm Marge, the Front design group, design duo BrobergRidderstråle, Daniel Rybakken, Jens Fager/Tommy Myllymäki and most recently Note Design Studio/Isabella Morrone.

Welcome to Woodland Wooden architecture is becoming a new Swedish export item. In 2017 we invited Architects Sweden to curate a unique exhibition on the theme. The exhibition Welcome to Woodland presented a wide range of innovative contemporary wooden architecture and discussed the different aspects of wooden architecture and design.

Established Established is a subsidized zone dedicated to small-scale productions and one-off products, open to all interested design studios throughout the world. The aim with Established is to promote diversity in the industry and encourage the production of smaller collections.

We also host guest exhibitions and guest events every year to further shine a spotlight on Scandinavian design & architecture.

Greenhouse

– The display window for independent designers and design schools Greenhouse is Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s popular section where up-andcoming designers and design schools are given the opportunity to showcase their prototypes and meet with manufacturers and industry insiders from all around the world. Many of today’s leading designers had their breakthrough in Greenhouse and many young designers have also been able to see their products go into production, thanks to Greenhouse.

Every year we also have the traveling exhibition Young Swedish Design (Ung Svensk Form) premiering in Greenhouse. Young Swedish Design is an exhibition that displays the best and most exciting from young Swedish design today. After the fair the exhibition goes on a yearlong tour of Sweden and other countries. Young Swedish Design is organized by Svensk Form in collaboration with IKEA and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.

Mattias Stenberg, Form Us With Love, Oki Sato/Nendo and GamFratesi are several of the designers who had their breakthrough in Greenhouse.

VISITOR

“I have been here a few times before and can say that Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair has undergone enormous development. The level of quality of the display products is unbelievably high and I am impressed by everything I managed to see, to say the least.”

“The best thing about Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is the high level of quality combined with good presentations. The fair itself is not too large, but rather more relaxed and there is time to talk to people.” Luca Nichetto, Designer, Italy/Sweden

Michael Anastassiades, Designer, Cyprus/UK

“As an architect, I feel at home here and share your values. At home in Shanghai people are always talking about Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and it is always positive.” Lyndon Neri, Architect and Designer, China

“Without being too ingratiating, I can say that I appreciate Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair both personally and professionally. Normally I do not like to visit trade fairs, since everything is usually overdone. But Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is perfect - selective and concentrated in a way that is not found anywhere else.” Christophe Pillet, Designer, France

“Today, a fair like this is not just about sales, but also communication and contacts. This means being friendly, easy-going and open-minded. I think Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair managed with all that and have succeeded in creating a fine atmosphere, which is important.” Werner Aisslinger, Architect and Designer, Germany

“It’s a very smart fair and I love being here. I do not visit that many fairs but I try to make space for Stockholm Furniture in my program as often as possible. I feel very comfortable here and apprecitate working with Scandinavian companies like Wästberg and others.” Jasper Morrison, Designer, UK

“The reason we are here is because this is the perfect place for young designers. We came as visitors every year while studying, and even before that. This is really the place to be!” 12 Essentials, Greenhouse exhibitor, Finland

Lonnie Castle, Marketing Manager at &Tradition

“Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is undeniably the most important event of the year for Bröderna Andersson. I do not view this as a Swedish fair, but rather as a Scandinavian fair with a good flow of visitors. The organization of the fair is excellent and we are very satisfied.”

“Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair offers a fantastic opportunity for Skovby to meet primarily its Swedish customers. We participate in three European fairs every year, and we think that this fair – compared to many others – is both manageable and attractively laid out.”
