GRADUATE ASSISTANT, OGLESBY UNION BOARD ADVISOR AND ASSESSMENT POSITION #3100

THE OGLESBY UNION The Oglesby Union is a diverse and engaging community that fosters individual and collective learning by providing outstanding services and opportunities for involvement. The Union is the community center of the university, serving students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests. The Oglesby Union is comprised of the Art Center, Askew Student Life Center & Cinema, Flying High Circus, Guest Services, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and the Student Activities Center. For more information about the Oglesby Union please visit: http://union.fsu.edu/ THE POSITION The graduate assistant will serve as the primary advisor for the Oglesby Union Board, the governing body of the Oglesby Union. They will lead the coordination of special projects, such as Constitution day and the Union Appreciation Banquet. They will also be responsible for coordinating Union wide student employee orientations and on-going workshops to develop student employees. In addition, they will work with Union wide assessment projects such as Seminole Sensation Week, Friday Night Bites, Haunted Harvest, Homecoming, Dance Marathon and Spring Fling. Lastly, they will assist with the administration of the annual Skyfactor Benchmarking survey by scheduling visits with recognized student organizations. This assistantship offers experience in advising, supervising, assessment, program development and planning, policy-making, and facility operations. RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervise undergraduate student assistants • Serve as a liaison between the Union Board and Union Administration leadership as well as the Student Government Association • Manage data collection at Union programs as well as assist with data analysis and reporting • Provide student leadership development opportunities such as one-on-one advising & retreat planning • Coordinate interview process for prospective Union Board members QUALIFICATIONS • Accepted to a FSU Graduate Program (Preferably Master’s in Higher Education Administration) • Ability to relate well to others, especially students and student groups • Experience in program and event planning, team building and risk management • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing • Ability to receive feedback and follow instructions related to assigned programs and activities • Available for 20 hours per week including office hours during business hours and programs on nights and weekends For more information regarding this position, please contact Ladanya Ramírez Surmeier, Manager, Assessment & Evaluation, Oglesby Union at LRamirez2@fsu.edu or 850.644.1559.
