CAITLYN MALONE CREDITS LIVING ON CAMPUS WITH HELPING HER TO FORM HER CIRCLES OF FRIENDS.
Caitlyn’s first friend group was her roommates. She lived in Patriot Village with three other students, and they bonded during their first weekend on campus, attending
events together and forming a close-knit friend group.
As a biochemistry major, Caitlyn’s next friend group might come as a bit of a shock, but it’s one of her favorite things about UT Tyler.
“I’m part of Patriot Singers and Concert Chorale. I’m not a music major. I’m not a music minor. I sing in the choir
because I like it and it’s a great break from all my scienceheavy classes,” she says.
“I get to go and be with a completely different set of people doing something completely different, and there’s a lot of opportunities for that at UT Tyler. You can do anything you want, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be part of your major.”
Caitlyn then joined Greek life, rising to a leadership position after just one semester. She also participates in the Academy of Future Health Professionals and hopes to attend medical school after graduation.
“I’ve thrived at UT Tyler.”

“It’s exciting to see how far UT Tyler has come and the foundation it’s building for the future.”
Megan Tarrant CLASS OF 2007 BBA in Accounting
Though attending UT Tyler wasn’t part of Megan Tarrant’s original plan, she realized that UT Tyler offered not only strong academics but a foundation for her future.
“At first, I thought UT Tyler was just a temporary stop,” says Megan. “But it had everything I needed — and more — right in my own backyard.”
At UT Tyler, Megan gained the technical foundation in accounting, marketing and core business concepts that strengthened her natural curiosity and willingness to challenge the status quo — traits that would serve her well as she stepped into her career.
After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 2007, Megan began her professional journey with Clements Fluids, a family-founded company with deep roots in the energy sector. Starting out managing finances and bookkeeping, Megan has risen to the role of CEO and became an owner of Clements Fluids in 2022.
Looking back, Megan is proud of her UT Tyler roots.
