CAITLYN MALONE CREDITS LIVING ON CAMPUS WITH HELPING HER TO FORM HER CIRCLES OF FRIENDS.

Caitlyn’s first friend group was her roommates. She lived in Patriot Village with three other students, and they bonded during their first weekend on campus, attending

events together and forming a close-knit friend group.

As a biochemistry major, Caitlyn’s next friend group might come as a bit of a shock, but it’s one of her favorite things about UT Tyler.

“I’m part of Patriot Singers and Concert Chorale. I’m not a music major. I’m not a music minor. I sing in the choir

because I like it and it’s a great break from all my scienceheavy classes,” she says.

“I get to go and be with a completely different set of people doing something completely different, and there’s a lot of opportunities for that at UT Tyler. You can do anything you want, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be part of your major.”

Caitlyn then joined Greek life, rising to a leadership position after just one semester. She also participates in the Academy of Future Health Professionals and hopes to attend medical school after graduation.

“I’ve thrived at UT Tyler.”

“When

you come together to make your community better, people take notice.”

As a first-generation college student and Tyler native, YO initially chose UT Tyler due to its proximity and affordability. Majoring in marketing, she gained hands-on experience in finance, public relations and advertising. Despite plans to move after graduation, a local internship led to a full-time job offer, anchoring her in Tyler.

She became the CEO of WorkHub, then moved to Houston in 2020, combining her passion for international business, small business entrepreneurship and real estate as the regional manager for Greater Texas Capital.

Eventually, she returned to Tyler as Christus Health’s regional director of marketing. Now, she serves as the service line director for strategic marketing in their Irving corporate office. Her advice to future students: embrace new experiences and community involvement.
