HELL IS MURKY
In a country ravaged by war and rebellion, a fragile peace has finally broken out across an exhausted and wounded land.
Macbeth, returning from battle, meets three witches bearing a strange and fateful prophecy that begins a chain of bloody and brutal events.
Driven by an insatiable desire to succeed, Macbeth sets out to become King, by any means possible.
As his power-hungry wife sets him off on a murderous course to seize the crown, he is consumed by a great darkness… with violence and tyranny inflicted upon everything and everyone who stands in his way. But will their sanity remain intact, or will they pay the ultimate price for their destructive actions?
Don’t miss this powerful and chilling production of Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy, which lays bare the human cost of unchecked ambition.

It is the perfect first introduction to those who have never experienced South Asian dance and something quite different for connoisseurs.
Roshni is deeply moving, wonderfully uplifting and gloriously entertaining. Funded by Arts Council England. Join us for a Roshni curtain raise choreographed by Sonia Sabri and co-created with local community members before the show.

Featuring Colin Hurley who is performing in the Derby Theatre production of Macbeth in the same week! A man in a dressing gown shuffles in, carrying a box. From the box, he pulls the objects, people, quarrels, wrongs, jokes, mistakes, laughter and regrets that add up to a life.
Over the next seventy minutes he re-treads the path that brought him here, to This Great Stage of Fools: the loss of his daughters, the loss of his knights, the loss of his fool, the loss of his wits… oh, and the storm. Don’t forget the storm. When The Rain Came. Using only Shakespeare’s words (reordered, repurposed, and often repeated) Lear’s Shadow is a mischievous, engaging reflection on Shakespeare’s great domestic tragedy.

Geoff Norcott: Basic Bloke 2 –There’s No Bloke Without Fire
WED 18 FEB, 2026, 8PM
MAIN HOUSE
Comedian, author, podcaster and radio host Geoff Norcott returns with his latest tour -and his first under a Labour government - so there’s plenty to get off his chest.
Ever the political maverick, Geoff takes aim at Britain’s new “big beasts”, from Starmer to Rachel Reeves (while being surprisingly upbeat about Angela Rayner as PM). But it’s not just politics getting a roasting. As global tides shift, Geoff finds himself caught between tribes — baffled by former allies who’ve flipped on free speech and bemused by Brexiteers who now fancy becoming Trump’s 51st state.
In Basic Bloke 2, Geoff goes beyond his original show, exploring modern masculinity with his trademark honesty and wit. He’s been part of the male mental health conversation — but wonders what happens when “checking in” just means sharing dodgy memes.

Everyone is welcome at Derby Theatre, and we want all audience members to feel as comfortable as possible. Accessible performances and services as follows:
BSL Interpreted and BSL Integrated Performances
We offer BSL interpretation for all Made in Derby shows and selected tours, often by TheatreSign. Some performances are BSL integrated, where signing performers appear on stage in costume, fully woven into the action for a richer, more inclusive experience.
Captioned Performances
Spoken dialogue is displayed as text on a screen during selected performances, including all Made in Derby main house shows. Some productions also use The Difference Engine, which streams captions to your smartphone or tablet.
Audio Described Performances
Live verbal commentary is provided through headsets, describing visual elements during natural pauses in dialogue. Available for all Made in Derby and some touring productions.
Touch Tours (included in the ticket price) are offered 75 minutes before these performances, giving blind and visually impaired patrons a chance to explore the set, costumes, and props.
Relaxed Performances
These performances offer a more informal and supportive environment, ideal for anyone who finds traditional theatre settings challenging. Adjustments may include softer lighting and sound, a relaxed approach to audience movement and noise and access to a chill-out space throughout the performance.
Dementia-Friendly Performances
These offer a supportive environment for people living with dementia and their companions. There’s a relaxed attitude to movement and noise, low house lighting, a quiet space available throughout and staff on hand trained as Dementia Friends.
