Step into 1920s glamour with fizz, food and fabulous company as we celebrate 50 years of Derby Theatre and raise vital funds for the future.
Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Adapted by Elizabeth Newman • Directed by Sarah Brigham
Chasing dreams in a world of glitter - the tragic pursuit of love and legacy.
Experience a bold new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, brought vividly to life with live music and set against the glamorous backdrop of the Jazz Age in 1922. In West Egg, newcomer Nick Carraway encounters his enigmatic neighbour, Jay Gatsby, who hosts lavish parties in a bid to impress the elite. Gatsby, a self-made millionaire with a mysterious past, longs to reunite with his lost love, Daisy Buchanan.
As Nick and Gatsby grow closer, a poignant story of unfulfilled dreams and the relentless pursuit of happiness begins to unfold. Daisy, torn between Gatsby and her unfaithful husband Tom, is forced to make heart-wrenching choices that lead to a devastating conclusion.
The Great Gatsby remains a timeless masterpiece—a powerful portrayal of ambition, illusion and the cost of chasing an unattainable dream.

A Derby Theatre, Hull Truck Theatre and Octagon Theatre Bolton production
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Mark Babych
In a country ravaged by war and rebellion, a fragile peace has finally broken out across an exhausted and wounded land.
Macbeth, returning from battle, meets three witches bearing a strange and fateful prophecy that begins a chain of bloody and brutal events.
Driven by an insatiable desire to succeed, Macbeth sets out to become King, by any means possible.
As his power-hungry wife sets him off on a murderous course to seize the crown, he is consumed by a great darkness… with violence and tyranny inflicted upon everything and everyone who stands in his way. But will their sanity remain intact, or will they pay the ultimate price for their destructive actions?
Don’t miss this powerful and chilling production of Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy, which lays bare the human cost of unchecked ambition.

We offer BSL interpretation for all Made in Derby shows and selected tours, often by TheatreSign. Some performances are BSL integrated, where signing performers appear on stage in costume, fully woven into the action for a richer, more inclusive experience.
Spoken dialogue is displayed as text on a screen during selected performances, including all Made in Derby main house shows. Some productions also use The Difference Engine, which streams captions to your smartphone or tablet.
Live verbal commentary is provided through headsets, describing visual elements during natural pauses in dialogue. Available for all Made in Derby and some touring productions.
Touch Tours (included in the ticket price) are offered 75 minutes before these performances, giving blind and visually impaired patrons a chance to explore the set, costumes, and props.
These performances offer a more informal and supportive environment, ideal for anyone who finds traditional theatre settings challenging. Adjustments may include softer lighting and sound, a relaxed approach to audience movement and noise and access to a chill-out space throughout the performance.
