At Fernhill School, we have traditionally benefited from the generosity of our families through a variety of fundraising efforts. This has been led by our fantastic PTA whose energy and enthusiasm has provided superb resources and treats for our pupils. The annual ball was another fantastic fundraising event which contribute around £50,000 to our One Heart, One Mind Foundation. However, since Covid this activity has stalled.
As we emerge from our outstanding HMI report, and to support the amazing teaching going inside the buildings, we are now looking to the external fabric of the buildings to ensure we have sustainable, modern and welcoming buildings to see us into the next 50 years.
I have a strong vision for the future of Fernhill School which will ensure a sector leading education experience in well maintained buildings for the generations which follow.
Fernhill is a leading Catholic Independent School, with an enviable academic reputation, an outstanding Co-curricular offering underpinned by sector leading wellbeing.
Inlinewithourcharitableobligations,wealsoofferfinancialsupport throughourbursaryschemetothosewhowouldnototherwisebe abletoattendFernhillSchool.Overthepastyearorsowehavehad somelargeandinsomeinstances,unexpectedexpenses.

SomeofthisworkwillbecompletedwithagrantfromEnergySave Scotlandandasmallinterestfreeloan.However,thisisanambitious project,themostambitiouswehaveeverundertaken.Philanthropy andfundraisingiscommonplaceinindependentschools,butwehav neverundertakenworkofthismagnitude.Asasmallschool,thiswill clearlytaketime,energyandcommitment.Tothatend,Iwouldliketo forma‘FernhillFutures’steeringgroup.Thisgroupwillbefundamental indrivingtheinitiativeforward.
Wehavegivenourselvesalittleoverfiveyearstoraiseanestimated £300,000.Iagree,thisislargesum,butwhatwewillhaveisamodern, sustainableandfutureproofschoolwhichwillensureournameand brandliveonforthenextgenerationofFernhillPupils.

YoucanalsodonatethecostofasingleprojectE.g.classroom refurbishment,donatethecostofreplacementfurniture,payfor playgroundequipment,orsimplydonatemoneytothefund.The mostgenerousbenefactorscouldhavetheirfamilynameliveonin thenamingofadepartmentorevenabuilding.
Therefurbishmentofourhallwillbeourbiggestexpenseanditis withthisprojectalongsiderefurbishmentofourSixthFormCentrewe wouldliketobeginourfundraisingefforts.
WeanticipatetheSixthFormCentrewillrequirearound£5,000to realiseourvision.Ifonedonorisabletodonatethis,theSixthForm Centrewillbeartheirfamilyname.Itwillbelocatedonthesecond floorofthemainhouse.Theentirefloorwillhaveastudyarea, tutorialroomandlibrary,conferencefacility,socialareawithkitchen.
