t is not an exaggeration to say one cannot move around in Oman without going through a road or a bridge built by Galfar. That is the extent of contribution of this construction major to the infrastructure development of the Sultanate. “We have been in infrastructure development of Oman for long with a strong presence from Musandam to Dhofar,” says Dr. Hans Erlings, CEO of Galfar. That is true. Galfar Engineering and Contracting has built roads, bridges, ports like the ones in Khasab and Sohar, airports like those in Salalah and Ras Al Hadd, commercial buildings, office complexes, hospitals, electrical infrastructure, sewage lines and many more. It is indeed difficult to name a construction segment in Oman where Galfar has not made a mark. Narrating the story of the growth and success of the company, Erlings notes, “Our vision was to become the best contractor in Oman and get a significant portion of work. There has been a significant increase in the amount of work in the market in the last few years as Oman embarked on an ambitious development programme and as a result we have been able to acquire more work and grow.”
