DON’S COUNTRY KITCHEN

Situated in a shopping center off Old Grove Road, the restaurant features colorful murals of the Mexican countryside, all painted by Marie’s relative, artist Sean Dominguez. At Pollos Maria chickens are prepared in a citrus-based marinade, then flattened so they cook evenly and quickly over the grill. The taste, devoted customers say, is tender, juicy and flavorful. Aside from their house specialty, this family owned, and operated restaurant offers a full range of Mexican favorites, from fish tacos to carne asada and even menudo on weekends. Beer, wine and desserts round out their extensive menu. Come hungry! Located at 125 Old Grove Rd, Ste. 8.

The Crimson Cake is a small, custom cake and dessert shop owned and operated by Pastry Chef Alicia Phoenix. After graduating Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 1999, she spent the next decade honing her baking and cake decorating skills in Boston and North County San Diego, working in wholesale bakeries and upscale hotel pastry shops. In 2010, she opened The Crimson Cake, located at 3830 Oceanic Dr. Suite 410, offering custom designed and walk-in cakes, cupcakes and desserts. All recipes are made from scratch with high quality chocolate, cream and butter - no mixes or pre-made frosting. The cakes are moist, the fruit is fresh and the fillings and buttercream are just lightly sweet. At the Crimson Cake they take pride in creating products that are not just memorable for the design but, that taste extraordinary as well. Our Story Winter 2022 | www.oceansidechamber.com
