Chamber hosts Candidates Forums The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Community Political Action Committee (BACPAC) was formed to promote political and legislative issues that are good for business and the communityat-large. Through its candidate forums, BACPAC is able to ask those running for local office key questions to determine their positions on issues related to business concerns and to then provide this information to voters.

On September 22, 2016, BACPAC hosted a campaign forum for those candidates seeking election to the Oceanside Unified School District’s Board of Trustees and to the Tri-City Healthcare District Board of Trustees. School Board candidates interviewed about the District and the education of our children included: incumbents Dr. Adrianne Hakes and Mike Blessing and challengers Blair Daniels, Bess Bronson and Eleanor Evans.

Questioned with regard to the operation and financial health of the Tri-City Healthcare District were: incumbents Rosemarie Reno, Larry Schallock and Ramona Finnila and challengers Frank Gould, Marggie Castellano, Leigh Anne Grass and Donna Rencsak. On September 27, 2016, a forum for the candidates for Oceanside City Council and Oceanside Mayor was hosted. Sharing their positions on issues shaping the future of Oceanside, City Council candidates included: incumbents Jack Feller and Esther Sanchez and challengers Steve Hasty, Victor Roy, Ward O’Doherty, Daniel Dumouchal and Linda Gonzales. In the Mayoral forum, incumbent Jim Wood and challengers Cynthia Rocco, Georgeo Kerpani, Jim Gibson and Rick Kratcoski answered questions relating to their vision for the future of Oceanside.
