UPCOMING EVENTS OCTOBER FORUM “HOW TO KILL A CREW” (WHAT NOT TO DO)

10/17/17 | 7:00 PM COUNCIL OFFICE

WORDS FROM OUR PRESIDENT, KATELYN STEELE

NOVEMBER FORUM TOPIC: SHOOTING SAFETY

Hello OC Venturers! Ever wonder how to build a thriving Crew? Let's start with learning "How to Kill a Crew". I am really excited about this months topic, as it will give a great insight to what makes a Crew really successful. As a VOA we have had the opportunity to talk with a lot of Crews over the years and we have complied a comprehensive list of what we have found to be the top reasons that Orange County Crews succeed or fail. So for all you new Crews out there, this is a great time to get some advice and learn how to make your Crew the best it can possibly be! During the Crew and Officer reports, adults will break out and go over rechartering packets. Make sure to send all of your advisors to get that knocked out. We have a lot planned for this Forum and we don't want you to miss out on any of our events, so make sure you are there to receive the latest news in the Venturing world. I hope to see you all out there at 7pm at the Council Office!

The BSA Announces the Addition of an All-Female Program Source: Scouting News Room Starting in the 2018 program year, families can choose to sign up their sons and daughters for Cub Scouts. Existing packs may choose to establish a new girl pack, establish a pack that consists of girl dens and boy dens or remain an all-boy pack. Cub Scout dens will be single-gender — all boys or all girls. Using the same curriculum as the Boy Scouts program, the organization will also deliver a program for older girls, which will be announced in 2018 and projected to be available in 2019, that will enable them to earn the Eagle Scout rank. This unique approach allows the organization to maintain the integrity of the single gender model while also meeting the needs of today’s families. This decision expands the programs that the Boy Scouts of America offers for both boys and girls. Although known for its iconic programs for boys, the BSA has offered co-ed programs since 1971 through Exploring and the Venturing program, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2018. The STEM Scout pilot program is also available for both boys and girls. Read more at: Scoutingnewsroom.org
