Hello OC Venturers! One of the aspects of my position that I really enjoy is getting to learn what other Venturing Crews from Orange County are doing. In my newsletters, I always hope to not only promote VOA events, but also show off the cool activities our local Crews have done. 2018 Venturing Camporee Recap Written by Katelyn Steele, OCC VOA President
The OCC VOA’s very first Venturing Camporee was a huge success! We are so grateful for all of the amazing crews that came out to compete despite the weather. After a night of playing games and camping in the rain with Crew 316, the rest of the competitors arrived and we started off the morning with wonderful breakfast burritos and a “get to know you” game. Competitions started at 9:00 am and each Crew got the opportunity to test their skills head to head against each other to prove who the best Crew of the lot was. Rain changed the plans up a bit
and some rounds of archery were replaced with makeshift javelin throwing, but the spirit of Venturing was alive throughout the entire weekend in the ways that all of the crews conducted themselves, being open to changes in the schedule, being courteous in competition, and being cheerful the entire weekend. Shout out to Crew 675 for most number of ribbons won and Crew 616 for overall number of points. We had such a wonderful time getting to know all of the crews who participated and we can’t wait to see you at future events!
