A NOTE From the Head Golf Pro

Dear Oakwood Members,

August has swiftly passed, ushering in the arrival of fall. Autumn golf at Oakwood is undoubtedly the finest time to tee off in Kansas City. As temperatures begin to dip and the course sees increased activity, the conditions of the course will be exceptional. To help maintain our golf course in pristine condition, I would like to share a few key practices we can all do better at implementing:

Best Practices for a Healthy Course:

Repair your ball mark and an additional one on every green

Sand all divots made on the fairways

Collect your divots and place them in the designated sandbox on the cart

Use a linear partner at the driving range to ensure consistent divot patterns

Follow cart traffic guidelines throughout the course

By doing your part to preserve the course's health and appearance, we can ensure that it remains in excellent shape during the prime season for golfing.

This fall, we have an array of fun and exciting events lined up to continue the fun we’ve experienced throughout the summer. As a new member, participating in these fall events is a fantastic way to meet others and build connections within the Oakwood community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Best Regards,

Have you had your Lie and Loft’s Checked recently?

With September upon us, your irons have likely seen a lot of action and may have been transported in your car or on a plane. All that use and travel can sometimes alter the lie and loft angles of your clubs. Just last week, I noticed the gapping between my PW and 9 iron seemed off. Sure enough, my 9 iron was stronger than it should be! Even if they were perfect when you got them, these things can shift over time. I highly recommend having the golf shop team check your clubs at least once a year to ensure everything is just right!
