As we approach winter, our agronomy team has been hard at work throughout October preparing the golf course for the colder months ahead. Several key applications and maintenance projects have been completed to ensure the course enters dormancy in a strong, healthy state.
Across the rough and fairways, we applied multiple fertilizer and plant health treatments. The rough received fertilizer to support the overseeded fescue, while the fairways were treated with a series of applications aimed at minimizing the damage experienced last spring. One key product used was 0-0-50, a straight potassium source that helps the turf harden off and better withstand winter stress
We also applied Glycofuze, a plant health product that enhances carbohydrate utilization and storage, working in tandem with the potassium application to strengthen the zoysia as it enters dormancy. To prevent early germination of poa annua, we sprayed Specticle, a pre-emergent herbicide that will provide ongoing control through winter and reduce the need for additional applications later in the season
Additionally, we applied Tebuconazole, a fungicide used to prevent and manage large patch (zoysia patch), which becomes more active in the current temperature range.
You may notice areas of new fescue sod installed around the course—primarily along cart path edges where turf struggled during the summer heat. Please continue to keep all four tires on the cart path in these areas to protect the new sod.
Drainage improvements are also underway, with recent work completed on Hole 18 and the putting course. Several additional drainage projects are planned in the coming weeks Tree work was temporarily delayed due to unseasonably warm temperatures and course demands but will resume next week, followed by stump grinding and final cleanup
We want to thank all our members for a fantastic year and for your continued patience and support as we worked to restore and improve the course We look forward to next season and to seeing everyone out enjoying the results of these efforts
