DEAROAKWOODMEMBERS,

A NOTE From the Head Golf Pro

Dear Oakwood Members,

It is hard to believe that June has already passed, and we are now halfway through the summer season. We have had a fantastic summer so far, filled with exciting events and fun activities at the club.

The addition of the par 3 course at Oakwood has been a huge success and has attracted new golfers to the club. It has been wonderful to see an increase in usage and to watch new golfers develop their skills. As we head into July, the heat of the summer is upon us, and we have a packed schedule of activities and events planned for both the Big Course and the Par 3 Course.

A message from the Golf Shop:

Our shop is stocked with great gear all year round, and we love seeing everyone sporting their new Oakwood Gear. As we approach the holiday season and corporate gifting, we are here to assist you with all your golf shop needs. If you want to place holiday orders for your family, clients, or friends, please don't hesitate to contact us.

I am looking forward to a fun-filled month of July ahe d Happy Summer!

Oakwood Golf Performance with Dr Matt Stensrud

AVID Golfers - Are you missing out on one huge performance advantage?

Yes, this is for the serious golfer who is already spending time, energy and money on improving their game through proper club fitting, coaching and practice. As we know, many golfers that are playing with inferior equipment and watching YouTube for golf instruction are losing out on the advantages of working with individuals like Justin Bulcock with Titleist and Maureen Farrell, PGA. My first suggestion to those individuals is to take a lesson and get fit.

But that isn’t YOU. YOU want to find every advantage over your competition. YOU know that hard work pays off when practicing. YOU know that properly fit equipment maximizes your scoring potential. Did you know that others are taking advantage of the third level of improvement? Getting their body right.

Golf is a power game and handicaps fall when distance goes up. Yes there are outliers, but distance is the #1 predictor of handicap. Why do you think the longest players on tour make the most $$? Professional golfers and high level amateurs work on their bodies and if YOU are truly a SERIOUS GOLFER then YOU should be doing the same.

If you are already maximizing your equipment and getting great coaching, the next level of improvement will come from finding those physical limitations that are holding you back. Many times improving your body will also help with the swing changes you are trying to make with your coach.

To help all of the AVID golfers like you, I am offering $50 off my full ONE hour golf fitness and performance assessment. This is available to the first 10 people that sign up and mention this email.

A NOTE From the Director of Grounds

Grounds Update

What a June! We have hosted many events such as the Acorn Classic, Ladies Member Guest, and multiple golf tournaments. We had a wet start to the month and ended with a lot of heat. I am hopingforamildandevenweatherpatterninJuly.

July brings heat and biting insects. As you apply your bug spray and sunscreen, please avoid doing so on the turf. The chemicals such as Deet as well as the propellants used in bug sprays will burn turf leaving a brown spot with footprints. Protect yourselfbutbecareful.

With higher temperatures in July, we will be hand wateringtokeepthegreensashealthyaspossible. Wetrytowateringapsonthecoursewherethereis noplay, butwedosometimeshavetowaterinfront of play. It should only take a few minutes for the crew to finish cooling each green. Please wait until they wave you on or finish watering before hitting the green. Doing so will help us quickly and safely keep the greens in the best shape possible this season.
