Dear Oakwood Members,
This August, we are eagerly preparing for our Men's premiere event - the Knickerbocker. Scheduled to take place from August 15th to August 17th, the golf course, Par 3 course & practice facilities will be closed during this event.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase Oakwood at its best for our members and their guests during this event. To ensure the success of the Knickerbocker, we need volunteers to serve as forecaddies. If you have children or grandchildren who are interested in this role, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Looking ahead to the Fall season at Oakwood, we have scheduled Fall Aerification on August 19th and 20th. We are performing aerification a couple of weeks earlier, which will ensure that our greens will be in top condition for the upcoming fall golf season. Please note that the Golf course will be closed during this maintenance period.
Stay tuned for more details on these new events and the fall golf schedule at Oakwood. We are grateful for the wonderful year we've had so far and are excited to continue building on that success this fall.
Thank you for your continued support and participation.
Best Regards,
Hunter Hayes, PGA Head

Instead of trying to “memorize” rules for Difficult Lies ask yourself what is the slope/hill/gravity/rough trying to do to the ball or my clubhead and work your way through your setup from there.
Setting up to the ball is 90% of the equation. Also, when in doubt I find a smaller swing, more like a punch shot is always a safe option when hitting uncomfortable shots.
The hill will add or de-loft the club head, therefore chose club accordingly Ball position- will be determined based upon the severity of slope, if the hill gets in the way (like pictured above) move the ball position back in the stance Shoulders/Body Tilt-Bend- should always MATCH the slope of the hill
Clubhead should always follow the hill post impact...for example, if it’s sidehill/downhill make sure to keep the clubhead descending through the ball longer.
If the ball is above your feet, the ball gets closer to you, therefore stand taller &/or grip down on the handle If the ball is below your feet, the ball gets further away from you, make sure to hinge at your hips more. The ball will tend to work with the slope of the hill Above your feet = left (for a right-handed player)Aim and align yourself accordingly
Move the ball slightly back of normal ball position
Open face slightly as rough will tend to grab it and shut it down
Make a steeper angle of attack into the ball
Titleist has released the new GT series of Drivers and Fairway Metals
Oakwood was the first in Kansas City to have consumers test, get fit and purchase! The GT line won’t be available in golf stores or online until August 23rd. With Oakwood being one of only FOUR Regional Fitting Centers in the country has its PERKS!
I have had mine for 3 weeks now and gained 5 mph of ball speed and 13 yards of carry distance on average!
Rent the “simulator bays” but OPEN the garage door and get the same data used during a lesson. Same rate and booking process as winter indoor use.

It has been a good but challenging start to the summer. Despitethedifficultweather, thecoursehascomethrought ingoodcondition
With the expected August heat there are a few things we canalldotohelpkeepOakwoodlookingitsbest:
Keep your cart in the fairway to reduce stress in the roughduringtheextremeheat.
Fill fairway divots with the sand bottles provided in the carts.
