The Master's Par 3 is a 9-hole stroke play competition marking the beginning of spring and The Master's Tournament. This event is one of my personal favorites and I'm looking forward to it. Register via the Golf Genius Mobile App to secure your spot.

Signups for all club-wide events throughout the season are now open on the Golf Genius Mobile App. If you have any questions or issues, feel free to reach out.

As we embark on the 2024 season, remember the importance of handicapping. At Oakwood, we take pride in the exceptional golf events we offer, and the credibility of our tournaments relies on the integrity of the handicap system Play with honesty, submit scores promptly, and follow The Rules of Golf.

To ensure fairness, we'll be conducting random handicap audits The GHIN app makes recording scores easy, so let's work together to maintain a level playing field. Thank you for your cooperation in upholding the tradition and integrity of golf at Oakwood

We look forward to seeing you soon,

Common Myths ...Do this Instead

Common Myths ...Do this Instead

“Keep Your Head Down” Eyes Follow Ball with Coach Mo

Keeping your “head down” hinders your body from moving rotationally. Your body should stay in posture, however we do this with hip hinge, not with head down on backswing. Same is true for forward swing, if your head is actively staying “down” your wrists scoop, elbow “chicken wings” and body stands up to try and create space for the club at impact.

“Slow down backswing” Swing Faster!

Too often golfers try to have a slow and controlled backswing, but the brain knows it needs to generate speed to hit the ball. Therefore, a hacking/fast transition happens with the upper body. The tempo for great players is a 3:1 ratio, however it’s a constant motion and flows together more athletically. I would challenge you to try and tap your club to start the backswing with movement instead of a frozen/fixed position at address to help with this.

Strength Training

Move Better, Feel Better, Play Better!

Did you know strength training improves your flexibility just as much as stretching?

If you ask a golfer what they need to work on to improve their body, they tend to say flexibility. When they do a search for golf flexibility exercises online they see the same variations of stretches that golfers have been doing for years. These stretches are overprescribed and they underperform!

What if I told you that doing the correct form of strength training (not powerlifting!) can not only improve your flexibility as much as stretching, but also improve your balance, posture, pain and distance off the tee?

The below research article states that both strength training and stretching were equally as effective in improving range of motion.

2.

MakethePesto: In a food processor, combine basil leaves, crushed red pepper, pine nuts, and grated Parmesan cheese
