MAYOR’S MESSAGE

As summer slowly moves into Autumn and as our activities move more indoors, Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture has much to offer for people of all ages.
The Oak Bay Artists' Fall Studio Tour is an opportunity to view and purchase visual art in many forms, including original paintings, photography, woodcuts, fabric, glass, and pottery. Established and emerging artists open their home studios during this community favourite.
During our beautiful fall days, be sure to visit the 2025/26 Arts Alive sculptures. Consider casting your vote before the deadline in late November, your input helps inform which of the temporary art pieces may join our permanent art collection.
Monterey Recreation Centre had significant upgrades over the summer – please visit for engaging activities, tasty food options, and welcoming spaces to socialize. For those slightly younger, the Youth Centre in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre is a great place for youth to visit, hang out, meet new friends. Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture also has many employment opportunities, including auxiliary, part-time and full-time positions in a positive team culture.
If you’re not sure what your next passion, hobby, or challenge is, I invite you to try out a wide variety of drop-in sessions available at the Oak Bay, Henderson, or Monterey Recreation Centres. These include Aquafit, pool swims, fitness sessions, indoor pickleball, arts classes, and so much more.

Kevin Murdoch, Mayor, District of Oak Bay

This is not your typical style of strength and stretch class. It is designed to 'up-regulate' the muscles that are less used and 'down-regulate' the ones that are overactive. It was once believed that fitness classes should require activating more muscles, but studies show it has become more relevant to learn how to let muscles release their constant tension and act like muscles should: turn on when needed and turn off when not.
