NSTP studes oriented towards Data Privacy

A symposium on Data Privacy Awareness for the preparation of the On-Job Training for NSTP first-year students, conducted on February 25, 2024, was held at NwSSU-SJC covered court.

Mr. Arnold S. Baldo, the Data Privacy Officer, discussed how one can control and protect the data. It deals with controlling the data and protecting the individual’s documents and information such as names, gender, and other personal details that can reveal one’s status or identity. By means of these, students can now be aware of how certain information should be kept, and how we can keep the data not only on our personal information but other information that should be kept as confidential.

Furthermore, Mr. Baldo discussed the Data Protection and Personal Information Controller, which is a natural or judicial system that composes the processing of personal data. This guides us to be more confi-

dent and knowledgeable when it comes to sharing personal information.

“The more we are aware and the more we are confident, that’s data privacy awareness” Mr. Baldo, said.

Afterward, Mrs. Mary Joy Capito ended the orientation by reminding the students to protect their personal information and be responsible for their

privacies.

“I hope that this orientation has provided you with valuable insight and practical knowledge on data privacy awareness. Remember that protecting personal information is a shared responsibility and has a right to protect personal privacy and information”, she noted.

RIE Office conducts faculty meeting for Research and Extension Targets

An urgent faculty meeting was spearheaded by the Office of the Research, Innovation and Extension for the faculty members, earlier on February 28, 2023, at Audio Visual Hall-San Jorge Campus. This is in line with the Research and Extension Targets for faculty members based upon the University’s revised and approved Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) 2023.

The Campus Dean, Dr. Lagrito Mante, pointed out that this conforms with Office Memorandum No. 10, s. 2023 that was

issued by the University President, Dr. Benjamin L. Pecayo, last February 23, 2023.

The twelve research targets that were presented raised the question: are there enough funds for all of the faculty members to achieve these targets?

In response, there is insufficient budgets for internal funding. That is why faculty members are encouraged to submit research proposals (to be part of the pool of research proposals), as these proposals can and may be funded through external funds, given the time.

Furthermore, the meeting also focuses on the discussion about the success indicators that faculty members shall achieve. Formats of the IPCR, DPCR, and OPCR commitment was discussed which led to some questions and clarifications on how to accomplish it. After a while, the results for the Licensure Examination 2022 of San Jorge Campus was keenly talked about.
