series of small campaigns, we’ve completed half of our $500,000 overall goal, which will eventually include a new database, new telephone system, and website. All of it is inspired by the idea of bringing to Seattle the freshest images in world cinema and creating for local filmmakers the best opportunities to learn about filmmaking and to develop their own voices and to support them as they launch their careers. There are too many highlights to list here, but they can be divided into the cinematic and the social. Over the past decade, our Children’s Film Festival has risen to be our biggest annual program, and as we look to its 10th anniversary in late January, which coincides with the Film Forum’s 20th anniversary, we see with some amazement how it has expanded to a fortnight of offerings in global family films, burgeoning filmmaking camps, a partnership with Children’s Hospital, and a tour that crosses the country and now includes a relationship with the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music, for whom we provide original programming in the fall.

And we have continued to premiere important and award-‐winning films, too -‐-‐ some 80 in the past 24 months. A small number of highlights include Stephanie Spray and Pacho Velez’s Manakamana, Jia Zhangke’s A Touch of Sin (both in 2014), Miguel Gomes’ riddling and pretty Tabu (2013).

We have commissioned 6 live shows that play with (and against) films. Salt Horse’s Color Field from this past year pushed through the whole building, down hallways, in the lobby and into the main theater for an exciting and original spell of evenings in the spring.

Education Since 2009 we have offered two-‐week intensive camps for young filmmakers: one for middle-‐school aged kids and one for high school. This past year we stepped that up, adding a week-‐long camp for 7-‐10 year-‐olds, and another week off-‐campus at (and in partnership with) the Jewish Community Center for more middle-‐school aged kids. 2014 sees the return of our winter film camps, and this fall we launched our first ever after-‐ school Film Club. Our classes have grown, too, bringing a steady stream of professionals and aspiring filmmakers through our doors – to our cinemas, our summits, and our festivals.
