Special Summer Transition Edition

As NVCC becomes CT STATE Naugatuck Valley, Tamarack offers a Message to Students, Advising Resources, and ACE Tutoring Center summer hours.

Farewell, NVCC!
“The May days grow longer, and buds open on the trees. The end of the school year and summer beckons free. But looking back with smiles and a tear on friends and teachers here, We thank you, Naugatuck Valley, our alma mater dear.”

May 10, 2023
Dear students,
Your determination and efforts to reach your goals inspire us all!
You may wonder what changing from NVCC to CT State Community College means for you. Even though our name will change slightly, you will continue to have the following:

• Dedicated professors who will engage you in learning.

• Supportive advisors who will guide you through your educational plans and Degree Works.
• An array of staff in the library, the ACE, counseling, and all the other departments who will assist you in any way possible.
However, many of you have already experienced some frustrations in your registration process. In this change from NVCC to CT State Naugatuck Valley, some of the “back end” processes have resulted in errors. While we cannot control those processes at the campus, we are committed to making sure your progress toward your degree/certificate is not delayed.
NVCC has four Guided Pathway Advising centers: Your Guided Pathways (GP) advisor is your main point of contact for questions regarding summer and fall registration. Each center is dedicated to specific areas of study with advisors to help you navigate your academic journey. We’ll ensure that you are registered for the correct classes and are on track to complete your programs.

You can schedule an appointment with a GP Advisor through our GP Webpage. If you don’t know who your GP advisor is, contact the Guided Pathways office: 203-575-8025 or GuidedPathways@nv.edu
We’re open all summer, and summer courses are still available in three different sessions if you want to get ahead or catch up! Search for NVCC summer classes here.
I look forward to seeing you over the summer and in the fall as you continue your education. Please feel free to stop by my office, K703, to say hello and grab one of the treats we always have on hand!
Warmly,
Dr. Lisa Dresdner, Chief Executive Officer
