Newcastle boasts world-class sport, music, shopping and arts.
The School is opposite St. James’ Park – home to Newcastle United Football Club. Chinatown, for great food and culture, and Leazes Park, for outdoor leisure, are less than a five-minute walk from the School. A short stroll will take you to the Quayside – a hub of music, food, nightlife and a weekly Sunday market loved by students. You can also see the seven bridges here, including the iconic Tyne Bridge. Visit Grainger Town, an indoor market for an historic touch, which offers 19th century architecture.
Creative quarter, Ouseburn, is another must see with its thriving arts scene and great places to eat and explore on foot.
If you’re into café culture and local independent shops, then head to Jesmond, Heaton or Gosforth which are easily accessed by public transport or a leisurely walk.

Researching international job markets
As part of our careers offer at the Business School, we have various tools available to help you research the job market in the UK and across the world. These give you access to job opportunities as well as live market information, including recent hiring trends.
The University’s award-winning Language Resource Centre (LRC) offers free language learning via self-study materials in over 150 languages. Using Linguacast materials in the LRC will not only improve or begin your language learning journey, but it will also enhance your employability skills. It’s a huge advantage being able to communicate with overseas clients.
Choose from a range of conversation groups and one-to-one sessions. You can also access a wide range of online resources, including over 8,000 movies and TV shows in lots of languages.
We have recently launched a Dual Award programme with Grenoble Ecole de Management which is available on many of our Master’s programmes. After completing your postgraduate studies with us, you can spend an additional academic year at Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France. You can choose from a range of complementary postgraduate degree programmes at the partner institution. This is a great way to develop business knowledge in an international setting.
Many of our Master’s courses allow you to take a non-creditbearing exchange opportunity for one semester at a European partner university at the end of your programme. This is a great way to experience another culture, improve your language skills and enhance your global graduate outcomes.
The sustainability forum offers a series of activities to enhance and internationalise your learning experience and help you develop international networks. Designed to raise awareness of sustainable practices and developments within organisations and society, you will become a global systemic thinker and leader.

This is an accounting and finance-based Master’s degree with a focus on financial analysis. The course will prepare you for roles in financial analysis, accounting and finance in the global marketplace.
The rapidly changing global financial and business environment and increased regulatory supervision have highlighted the importance of sound financial analysis and robust reporting for business decision-making.

Our Behavioural and Experimental Economics MSc will give you advanced insights into the psychological foundations of human decision-making and how they are integrated into economic theory and policymaking.
You will learn how experiments are applied in economics to refine theories of decision-making or to design successful policy interventions. Established in the early 1900s, the vibrant group consists of academics researching across all main applied and theoretical areas of modern micro , macro and quantitative economics. The economics community also manages the Newcastle Experimental and Behavioural Economics Lab, a state of the art research facility for conducting studies in experimental economics.

You will work with scholars in the marketing research community engaging in knowledge shaping current societal debates across different areas of marketing that could be grouped in the overall themes of consumer behaviour, digital marketing, marketing, health, sustainability and services marketing. Within those areas, new phenomena and current trends of broader interest are examined. This involves the production of new knowledge through original research and advanced scholarship, exploring the field of marketing in detail.

In the area of accounting, research includes accounting and business history, accounting standards, critical accounting, corporate governance, environmental and social accounting, and financial reporting.
In the area of finance, research focuses on asset pricing, behavioural finance, experimental finance, corporate finance, financial econometrics, financial management, financial innovation, financial institutions, bank risks and stability, green finance and household finance.

Interested in a career in research, but need support?
We offer two courses to support those wishing to go into a research discipline.
These courses are designed to give you the essential skills, advanced knowledge and a thorough grounding in theory and research methods before you progress onto doctoral research.
1. Management and Business Studies (Research) MA, PGDip
Open to both self funded students and NINE DTP‑funded students (through the 1+3 pathway).
2. Finance and Economics (Research) MA
Open only to NINE DTP funded students (through the 1+3 pathway).
3. Economics (Research) MSc
Open only to NINE DTP funded students awarded the funding for a Master’s degree.

1. Review our entry requirements
Guidance on course entry requirements and the international academic equivalencies can be found on individual course pages on our website.
To study our courses, you also need to meet our minimum IELTS score. You can find this on individual course pages on our website.
Alongside the IELTS test, we also accept a range of English language qualifications.
If you have lower English language scores, you may be accepted onto a pre sessional English course (see details on the next page).
2. Check for application deadlines
You can find these on our website via the ‘How to Apply’ button on each course page.
3. Apply online
Use our online Applicant Portal to create, edit and submit your application. You also need to attach and update your supporting documents.
This will include your academic transcripts and a personal statement. For those who meet the requirements for an unconditional offer, supporting documents are required before an unconditional offer can be made by the University.
For international students, you will also need to include a copy of the photograph page of your passport, and if you’re not from an English speaking country, certified translations of your academic transcripts, and an English language test result.
Once we have received and considered your application, a formal letter will be sent to you by email informing you of our admissions decision.
You’ll receive a conditional offer if there are conditions you need to meet before you can start. As soon as you’ve met the conditions of your offer, the Applicant Portal will be updated to unconditional.
You’ll receive an unconditional offer if you have no conditions to meet. If you need a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you’ll need to pay a minimum £1,500 tuition fee deposit or provide a letter providing details of proof of sponsorship. You should pay your deposit as soon as you accept your unconditional offer. This demonstrates your commitment to Newcastle University.
You do not need to pay a deposit if:
• you have provided a letter of proof of sponsorship
• you are studying an English language or Pre Master’s course at Newcastle University International Study Centre
We hope that you’ll accept your offer to study with us. To accept your offer, log in to the Applicant Portal.
When you’ve accepted your offer, met any conditions and paid your deposit, if you’re required to, or provided proof of sponsorship, we’ll send you a Confirmation of Place (COP) document. This is formal confirmation of your acceptance of the unconditional offer.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) for a Tier 4 visa (international students)
Once you have received your COP, you will also be issued with a pre CAS from May onwards. You must check that the information in your pre CAS is correct and then click on the link to confirm the details are correct and request the final CAS.
We’ll use this information to produce your Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) statement.

Newcastle University International Study Centre
Newcastle University International Study Centre is a joint venture partnership between INTO and Newcastle University. It offers specialist programmes to prepare international students for their studies in the UK.
It offers the following courses:
• Pre Master’s, developing your knowledge and skills through active learning
• Pre sessional English that prepares you for academic life and enhance your performance on your degree programme at Newcastle University Business School
• Flexible Academic English that meets your individual learning needs, with five tailored study levels to ensure you gain the language fluency and academic skills you need to succeed
If you want to improve your level of academic English to meet the language requirements for your degree.
Pre-sessional English If you already hold an offer to study at Newcastle University Business School and need to improve your English language skills to meet your language condition.
Start dates throughout the year
Pre-Master’s If you need to improve your academic performance and English language, this course combines both. Develop your study and research skills in preparation for a Master’s degree and gain direct entry to some of our Master’s courses.
June and July
Ten week course, you must have IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in three sub skills, including written English and no more than one sub skill of 5.0)
Six week course, you must have IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in all other sub skills)
September and January
