CHIC BOUTIQUE!
SCORE UNIQUE FINDS FOR THE BEACH IN A DECIDEDLY SWISH ATMOSPHERE AT DAVID CHINES’S COPIOUS ROW BEACH IN SOUTHAMPTON.
BY ANDREW C. STONEAs the well-heeled masses return—arms outstretched—to East End shops, David Chines waits calmly, confident that customers will fall head-over-Louboutins for Copious Row Beach. And with good reason: His new gallerylike boutique offers designer must-haves with relevance far beyond Coopers Beach.
“We have a great range of apparel and accessories you can’t otherwise find in Southampton,” Chines says. “The designers I carry are exclusive to me in terms of distribution, which really speaks to a customer who wants to wear something beautiful to a party or benefit that others won’t show up in.”
A former LVMH marketing exec who honed his style acumen working with Fendi and Givenchy, Chines prioritizes versatility. From the architectural elegance of Delpozo to the forward-thinking silhouettes of the CFDA Fashion Award-winning Brock Collection—with Judith Leiber, Sonia Rykiel, Tomas Maier, and other influential designers in between— Copious Row Beach is chockablock with looks that would be right at home in Manhattan.
Chines earned a devoted clientele with his Copious Row outposts in Sag Harbor and Greenwich, Connecticut. To tailor the shop’s vibe for a beachier, event-conscious crowd, he enlisted interior designer Zachary Dillingham Zimmerman. Marble tables and palm-frond wallpaper set a fun yet sophisticated stage. “It’s all about creating an ambience that caters to the client and the clothing,” Chines says. “Every piece has a place to be showcased.” 28C Jobs Lane, Southampton, 631-488-4555; copiousrow.com .
