NOV AND CHEVRON JOIN FORCES In June 2013, Chevron and NOV signed an International Master agreement (IMA), allowing NOV divisions to conduct business with Chevron and its subsidiaries on a worldwide basis.

The agreement will have great mutual benefits and allow all NOV divisions to work with Chevron’s Account Specific Strategy 3 2 Execution Team (ASSET), aiding the team in becoming a clear leader in every location it operates in. Chevron has a wide global reach and is eyeing exploration in test areas including Liberia, Suriname and China for 2013.

NOV Elmar News The OneTruck With its distinctive and innovative profile, the OneTruck sets a new standard for truck mounted slickline winches: tough, reliable, uncompromising.

The design criteria behind this pioneering concept include rapid international deployment, maximum operator comfort, generous storage capacity, protection from extreme environments, ease of operation and sustainability in the field. Central to this cutting-edge design is a lightweight and rugged aluminum shell body.

The OneTruck is available with conventional hydraulic drive or with Elmar’s field proven e-drive system. The winch system can be powered either from the truck engine PTO or by a standalone generator.

NOV Elmar News The OneTruck OPTIONS POWERED WINCH BAY COVER The OneTruck powered winch bay cover enables the operator to open or close the winch bay roller door at the touch of a button. This prevents your personnel from having to manually manipulate the cover, and provides an extra level of security whilst the truck is unattended, due to the robust aluminum nature of the powered cover.

SHALLOW ANGLE STEPS Those who have operated winch trucks will know that many injuries have been assocated with the process of entering or leaving trucks via conventional steps. The OneTruck offers the option of shallow angle steps which allow the operator to stand clear of the door to open or close it, and to use steps with a shallower angle than conventional steps, whilst using a handrail. The steps run parallel to the truck to minimise the possibility of the steps fouling with objects close to the truck.

Regional Updates Norway Update

by Ove Wareberg, general manager, NOV Elmar Norway Norway has a strong economy with impressive activity and growth in the oil and gas industry anticipated over the next 10-15 years.

NOV Elmar has been represented in Norway by NOV Elmar UK and NOV Elmar NL from 1981 when the company was introduced. However, in order to meet the needs of the customers and provide a quality service and after sales care, NOV Elmar Norway was established late 2011.

The NOV Elmar Norway workshop and offices are located in a key strategic area in Stavanger, at Tananger harbour, with a number of customers and clients nearby.

In June 2012 NOV Elmar Norway was awarded a five year maintenance contract for all NESSIE E-Winch system, pumps and panels with a global oilfield product, system and service company. The division also signed a service agreement in summer 2012 with a well intervention company and has been providing support to a number of other high profile oil and gas majors.

Sven Haavard Seldal (service engineer mechanic) The division currently consists of eight dedicated staff, including Ove Wareberg as operation manager, Roger Olsen as workshop supervisor, an office assistant and five service engineers. All staff are specially trained in the maintenance of the equipment used in Norway, customer support onshore and offshore, and are available 24/7 for direct phone assistance and after sales support.

For some customers NOV Elmar Norway is the single point of contact for all the activity regarding spares and capital sales. NOV Elmar Norway plans to expand into a new facility by early next year and be equipped to offer a complete service for Pressure Control Equipment, Wireline Masts and wire spooling.

Middle East Update

by Brian King, general manager, NOV Elmar Middle East 2013 has been busy for NOV Elmar Middle East, due to sustained high levels of activity in the area. We have upgraded our facilities to provide our customers with an enhanced refurbishment capability, both for pressure control and mechanical equipment such as winches.

Refurbishment of equipment provides our customers a way of obtaining fully functional equipment with an extended life, for a fraction of the cost of new equipment. Elmar provides a warranty on refurbished equipment and updated certification documentation following a full factory acceptance test and where applicable a third party review.

In the Dubai facility we also manufacture wireline pressure control equipment, control modules and perforating gun hardware. We pride ourselves on fast, on time deliveries 900 Series Pressure Test Unit and customer care.

Regional Updates Around The Regions

by Andrew Douglas, sales and marketing director, NOV Elmar Aberdeen The Singapore manufacturing facility is the global focal point for the manufacture of our rapidly growing wireline tools product line, and our largest Far East facility. Production of these tools presents a number of somewhat unique manufacturing challenges. One of these is the fact that many of the components need to be manufactured to a surface finish tolerance of 0.0003�. We have continued to invest in our machine shop there to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with our tools.

We are very pleased to welcome Andy Hyndman to the post of Singapore based sales engineer.

Andy brings a wealth of experience in wireline tools and in the market in the Far East in general.

Our facility in Perth, Western Australia offers rental and service of WPCE equipment as well as sales support, and we have a sales and after sales facility in Beijing, China.

Netherlands plant shipped five electric open hole logging units to Norway, which were configured for use with the customers acquisition system. The plant also delivered a large quantity of FlyLine and SlimLine units recently. This was assisted by our stock build program whereby we complete or part build units which are in high demand, in order to reduce lead times or even deliver from stock. The government in Brazil completed their Round 11 block auction, in which 200 blocks were sold to 65 oil companies. Petrobras has awarded several major contracts with subsea tree manufacturers, so the long term prospects for our

Brazil plant are good.

The service and after sales departments in the Netherlands and Aberdeen, Scotland, have been restructured into client facing and internal departments. The client facing aspects of the two after sales groups are combined into one, in xxxxx order to provide a smoother service for our customers. Ryan Mearns, an apprentice fabrication welder in Aberdeen, won the 1st year Apprentice of the Year prize at the Tullos Training Centre, and we would like to congratulate Ryan on that.

Employee Profile NAME: Thomas Longpré JOB TITLE: Technical sales representative – NOV ASEP Elmar, Houston, USA QUALIFICATIONS: I have been working as a sales representative with NOV Elmar for just under a year, and have a background in Cased Hole Wireline and pressure services GETTING THERE: After three years in the Canadian Military, I gained a position as a wireline field supervisor where I gained extensive experience with cased hole operations and pressure control systems.

Eventually my wife and I decided that we would like to raise our family in Southern Alberta and relocated to the Calgary area. For a short period I worked a rotational shift in the Northern Alberta Oilsands, but wanting to be home with my young family I continued a search for employment closer to home and using the skill that I was fortunate enough to gain while in the Wireline industry.

As luck would have it, ASEP Elmar had recently purchased DynaWinch Industries and was looking to fill the role of a Sales Representative for the pressure control line of products here in Calgary. With my experience the management here thought that I would be an excellent candidate for the position and the rest is as they say “history” WHAT ROLE DOES YOUR DEPARTMENT PLAY WITHIN THE COMPANY?: As a sales team we are usually the first point of contact for any new or existing customer. We are the liaison between them and the production floor; we are also the customer representative in ensuring that the many different departments understand what the customer is requesting.

BEST BITS OF YOUR JOB: The Canadian Wireline Industry is very diverse; we have a large variety from very deep high pressure wells, to very shallow low pressure wells. We have the second largest onshore truck market in the world, but we also have a growing offshore market. Couple this with the extreme climates that we deal with there is always a challenge. I must say the best feeling is when the customer acknowledges the hard work and understanding that has gone into ensuring that product that they have received is correct and on time.

WORST BITS OF YOUR JOB: Dealing with unhappy customers, no matter the situation and whether it was within our control. Our goal is to always have a happy client. Sometimes the worst situations can turn into the biggest positives, though. Even after a problem, seeing how it is dealt with can make all the difference.

IN MY SPARE TIME: Most importantly, I love spending time with my wife and 3 year old son, we enjoy our time in the great outdoors fishing, hunting and playing golf. But as with any other Canadian winter time is hockey.

FUTURE AMBITIONS: I am very happy with my current position but who knows what the future will bring.

ADVICE TO OTHERS: Keep your head up and stick on the ice. (Reference to hockey)
