Dear NOVA Families and Friends,

I am pleased to share with you NOVA Middle School’s Annual Report for the 2021 2022 school year. Last year, we happily welcomed students back to campus, and as restrictions lessened, some of the most beloved and normal parts of NOVA Middle School life also returned. We were once again able to go off campus for winter PE, venturing to experience bowling, trapeze yoga, swimming, rock climbing, and trampolining. The traditional trips also resumed with Camp Colman in March and the year end trips to the San Juans for the 8th graders and Fort Worden State Park for 6th and 7th graders in June. We also celebrated Barbara Mitchell Hutton’s retirement after 9 years as Head of School. Everyone was happy to have life slowly return to a more normal state. Your generous donations to the annual fund and NOVA gala made all of that possible

As we look ahead with excitement and joy to an even more typical year, we celebrate an important milestone: 30 years of middle school joy As we remember all of the remarkable accomplishments throughout the years, we must first recognize the incredible teachers and staff that have helped to shape NOVA into what it is today Our current faculty and staff, totaling 18 people, come to school each day with an endearing spirit of competitiveness and joy, a strong sense of community, and an intense desire to do all we can to educate the next generation Over 30 years, many things have stayed the same, and the dedication of the teachers and staff is top on that list NOVA has also gone through some changes over the years. The beloved Trow underwent a huge transformation this spring and summer and is hardly recognizable for those who remember the purple carpet and pews. Our website has also gone through a major transition, one we know will help past, current, and future NOVA families to better make connections and build community. These changes have all been for the better and help to ensure the stability of NOVA now and well into the future. The heart of NOVA still beats strongly.

We are so thankful for all of our donors, volunteers, and Board members who have supported our school and the great programs and experiences we provide. Without you, NOVA wouldn’t be able to provide financial aid to highly capable students in need, strong academics and fun and interesting enrichments, or off campus trips to Camp Colman, the San Juan Islands, or Fort Worden State Park NOVA is vibrant, safe, and joyful NOVA is a place where magic happens for highly capable students On behalf of all the students who have benefitted from a NOVA education, the teachers who have supported these students, and the staff who have worked tirelessly to be the behind the scenes support, I graciously thank you for your financial support and dedication to our mission

My daughter came home excited to do her home work and was learning with a voraciousness that

I hadn't seen from her She woke up excited to go to school. The teachers, teaching styles and lesson plans were top notch and helped the kids learn and prepare for the future.
