Nottingham Forest Community Trust is committed to delivering measurable and lasting impact for individuals and communities across our region. This Social Value Report presents an independent assessment, facilitated by our impact and evaluation partner, EVID Impact, of the outcomes generated through our programmes during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons.
Using the Government-approved WELLBY methodology, the report evidences the significant return on investment achieved, with over £52 million of social value created across two years. These findings reinforce the Trust’s role in enhancing wellbeing, improving health, and strengthening community connections, while ensuring that every pound invested delivers meaningful benefit.

NFCT’s social value is calculated using 2,513 survey responses and the WELLBY method.
This report implements the WELLBY (Wellbeing-Adjusted Life Year) method to measure social value through improvements in health and wellbeing, as outlined in HM Treasury’s Green Book guidance.
This approach is linked to participant scores for the ONS4 life satisfaction question: “How satisfied are you with your life nowadays?” Responses are measured on a 0–10 scale and form part of NFCT’s annual impact reporting.
One WELLBY represents a person moving one point higher on this 10-point scale for a full year as a result of programme participation. Each WELLBY is assigned a monetary value of £15,300 (2023 prices) or £15,920 (2024 prices), adjusted annually for inflation.
The calculation captures the monetary value of NFCT’s activity for participants through both the primary value of improved wellbeing and the secondary value generated from physical activity delivered by the Trust.

Based on Sport England research — considers the health and economic benefits of being physically active (reduced risk of illness, GP visits, treatment costs).
At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, social value is about more than numbers. It represents the positive, lasting difference our programmes make for individuals and communities.
■ Wellbeing – helping people feel happier, more confident, and more satisfied with life.
■ Health – supporting people to be more active, reducing the risk of illness and improving overall quality of life.
■ Community – creating opportunities for people to connect, feel supported, and build stronger local networks.
Together, these outcomes demonstrate how every pound invested in NFCT delivers real benefits that go far beyond sport, improving lives and strengthening our community.
Building on these findings, Nottingham Forest Community Trust will continue to invest in evidence-based programmes that improve health, wellbeing, and community outcomes. By embedding robust measurement through tools such as the WELLBY framework, we will ensure our impact remains transparent, accountable, and aligned with national guidance. Our focus moving forward is to strengthen partnerships, broaden our reach, and innovate in the way we deliver services so that the Trust continues to create even greater social value year on year.
