NDP Salutes OUR ALUMNAE HEROES SERVING ON THE FRONT LINES OF THE PANDEMIC

When Emily Wayson ’19, an engineering student at the University of Maryland, borrowed one of Notre Dame Preparatory School’s 3D printers to make face shield parts, little did we know the far-reaching effect this alumna’s efforts would have. In just a few weeks, nearly 200 face shields were distributed to places as close by as Baltimore’s Our Daily Bread food shelter and Little Sisters of the Poor motherhouse to Roosevelt, New York, where police officers and grocery store workers received Emily’s handiwork. Emily is just one story of an NDP alumna hero that has surfaced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Living out a mission of service nurtured by NDP and the School Sisters of Notre Dame, countless alumnae are working as nurses and doctors in hospitals and nursing homes. They are organizing drives for their neighborhood food banks. They are serving in other essential businesses, from construction to banking to teaching. They are, quite simply, transforming the world. Below is just a sampling of some of our NDP heroes. We pray for them and everyone whom COVID-19 has affected.
