Luke Wright: What I Learned From Johnny Bevan + The Tiger’s Bride “One of the funniest and most brilliant poets of his generation.” Johann Hari, The Independent A double bill of theatre and music, Luke Wright presents a scratch performance of his brand new play What I Learned From Johnny Bevan, with a score by Ian Catskilken from Art Brut. Written and performed in visceral, punchy verse this is a breath-taking spoken story about friendship, class and a really bad idea for a festival. A fantastic night of Cuban, Brazilian and Latin-inspired music to dispel the gloom of January and get you dancing. Featuring Orchestra Bombo, a juggernaut of Cuban carnival rhythms, re-igniting the ‘conga’ dance craze from the 1930’s and Rabo de Foguete, offering a vibrant show that mixes traditional and contemporary material into a high energy performance, infused with Brazilian grooves. 8pm : £6.00 adv : £7.00 door Monday 19 January

“A little gem... this is storytelling at its best, generous and warm hearted, lyrical yet real” Laura Wells, The Good Review Operation Crucible tells the story of four steel workers caught in the chaos on the evening of the Sheffield blitz. In the Marples Hotel in Fitzalan Square, 80 people, rushing and panicking, took shelter in the cellars; 10 compartments, each big enough to house only a few people at a time. At 11.44pm a 500kg bomb reduced the seven storey building to rubble. In the midst of destruction, one compartment withstood the blast. Within it, trapped, were four Sheffield men. Tmesis Theatre: That’s Amore

Friday 6 February

Playing With Space is a one-day festival of film and performance. It celebrates artists’ interventions into urban space, showing ways by which the presence of the human body can critique architecture. Two specially commissioned performances, by artists Nic Green and Dyad Creative, will take place in outdoor spaces close to Norwich Arts Centre at the end of the afternoon and evening screenings. The film programme includes work by artists Riccardo Iacono, Paul R Jones, Noemi Lakmaier, Manu Luksch, Mitra Saboury, Aaron Williamson, Liberate Tate, Destino Dance and Ballet Boyz. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and by Norfolk County Council, Norwich Arts Centre, firstsite and Live Art Development Agency. 2.30pm-5.30pm & 6-9pm : £3.00 for one screening/performance set or £5.00 for a day ticket Tuesday 3 February

“A wonderful body of work” The Guardian The infamous Lone Twin duo return from an eight-year hiatus, with a raucous re-imagining of Sam Shepard’s True West. The original play is set in a kitchen, in a house, in a suburb, some 40 miles out of Los Angeles in the late 1970s. It tells the tale of a family storm with two brothers at its eye.
