Whom Allah Loves
By: Shaista Khurshid, Calgary Alberta
Whenever the word love comes to mind it gives us a fluffy feeling in our hearts. We always think of love as a noun not a word of action and for many or any kind of love. But genuinely love is not just a feeling, instead it is a continuous effort given to us by our lovers and it needs to go back and forth. Otherwise, this would be just a stagnant word with no action involved.

When is the last time when you said to someone that you love them and never looked back or helped them when they needed you. When a child looks at you with all the love in his eyes, he usually extends his hands to hug you. Similarly you show your love to him with hugs , and provide comfort to them. Allah provides for His every creation, but He only loves whom He wants to. In the Quran Allah has mentioned a few types of people with some characteristics whom he loves.
As a Muslim, our goal is to get into the list of those whom Allah loves. In the Quran there are a lot of acts about which Allah told us explicitly that He does not love. But He also mentioned a few types of people whom He love a lot. Interestingly those people are those who did some remarkable things. Here is the list of some things we can do to get into the nice list.
The list of nine types of people loved by Allah has variety. The tasks are not simple, but they are also possible. The list is self explanatory, average folks can understand it. These characteristics not only appear physically on us but manifest spiritually and emotionally too. For example a person who acts with justice and fairness has an embedded understanding of love for humanity and its respect to his creator Allah. Furthermore, those who are steadfast know that before subjugating to Allah’s will and determined fate, he needs to use all his resources to change and make things better.
We should all see inside our hearts, that if we are able to get even one of these characteristics. Would it not be beautiful to be recognized on the day of judgment as Allah’s beloved people. In’Sha’Allah.
