Chick-fil-A made its way to Senatobia! Chick-fil-A, one of the largest fast-food chains in America, opened in the McLendon Center on the Senatobia Campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College on Sept. 19, 2023. This is the first major restaurant chain on a Northwest campus. “This is an incredible opportunity for Northwest Mississippi Community College,” said Northwest President, Dr. Michael Heindl. “Signing this
partnership with Chick-fil-A aligns with our college mission, which is to ‘positively transform student lives, enrich the communities we serve and strive for excellence in every program and service.’”
The Northwest Chick-fil-A has a partnership with Aladdin Food Services, who also provides the college’s food services in the Haraway Center.
First Chick-Fil-A Customer at NW!
Incoming students and their parents got the chance to get a peek at college life during 2023 Orientation, held on nine dates in June and July 2023. Sessions were held at the Senatobia, DeSoto and Oxford campuses for nearly 1,800 students ready to choose a class schedule and explore all Northwest has to offer.
After a welcome session led by orientation leaders, students and parents were split into groups. While parents attended an orientation session just for them, students
were rotated in groups between three focus areas: advising, where students met with an ARC advisor to build their fall schedule; an informational session featuring a panel of speakers from admissions, financial aid, business office, campus police, and student services and housing; and a resource fair featuring representatives of student organizations and groups. Students also received snacks and free T-shirts during the event, and following the breakout sessions campus tours were available for students and their families.
Meet the Rangers is a chance for the community and students to get to know the Ranger Athletes who will be competing that academic year in sports ranging from football to rodeo. They all come out for an epic show and a beginning of the semester celebration and as a chance for everyone to “MEET THE RANGERS.”
The Y2K party at the ROC was a celebration every thing 1990s and early 2000s ranging from metallics, bright clothes, baggy pants, grunge, hip hop, and hoop earrings. This celebration kicked off the beginning of the school year throwing it back to the time of Nirvana, Jennifer Lopez, *NSYNC, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson.
Northwest students dressed up in their best 90s gear and jammed out to the music while playing sports like volleyball, basketball, and other games.
Water Day in the Fall of the 2023 Semester at the Senatobia Campus was held on the Ag Field in front of the Haraway Center. It was a day of fun with the waterslide being the big hit of the afternoon as well as fair food and Chris Rice (NWCC Alum) who DJ’d the event.
At the end of the day there was a water balloon fight which brought on some friendly competition amongst participants.
A partnership event between Northwest and Ole Miss. DeSoto, this event benefits the 2+2 Program that allows students to do two years at Northwest and then transfer seamlessly into Ole Miss for the last two years of their bachelor’s program. This event is one welcomed by both communities with food trucks ranging from lobster, egg rolls, all the way to fair food favorites like funnel cakes and fried Oreos.

Since taking over the Northwest softball program prior to the 2020 season, coach Chelsea Bramlett has guided the Rangers to new heights and her teams have shattered records left and right.
In the season-opening sweep of Dyersburg State, Bramlett added another milestone to her impressive résumé, capturing her 100th win in the Rangers' 8-2 victory. She then recorded her 101st career win in the nightcap, as Northwest run-ruled the Lady Eagles by an 8-0 final.
Bramlett is the second Northwest softball coach to reach the 100-win milestone, joining her predecessor Mike Rowan. Her current coaching record now stands at 101-50, with two 30-win seasons from 2022-23.
Re-Live the Moment! >
For the second consecutive season, the Northwest women's tennis program has earned a spot in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
Ranked 21st in the ITA JUCO Women's Tennis National Rankings, the Lady Rangers finished the regular season with a 7-6 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the MACCC. In the conference standings, Northwest placed sixth to close the season in coach Andy Wolf's first season.
Competing in the NJCAA Tournament, sophomore Holly Stewart started strong with a 6-1, 6-0 victory
against Katrina Neufeld of McHenry County College. Freshman Mattie Sanders secured a solid 6-1, 6-2 win against Julianne Legg from Coastal Alabama in flight two singles' competition, while sophomore Grace Ann Wade claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Im Garba of Iowa Central.
Despite dropping her first match of the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis National Championships, Northwest freshman Allie Rawles rebounded to win the flight five singles consolation draw.
TUCSON, Ariz. - Two first half goals proved to be all Northwest needed in the 2023 NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship opener, as the second-seeded Lady Rangers took down No. 11 Rock Valley College by a 2-0 final.
One of the biggest reasons for the Lady Rangers' success was Pearland, Texas native Alexandria "Penny" Warner. The freshman striker had a goal and an assist, helping Northwest move to 21-1 on the season. Scoreless through the first 20 minutes and playing against a moderate breeze, Northwest finally broke through with Warner's assist to Jadyn Duran in the 21st minute. Nearly 20 minutes later, the Lady Rangers got another boost before halftime, thanks
to Warner's goal off a feed from Mari Julia Delgado. Though Rock Valley had its chances in both halves, the Northwest defense did its job, preserving the program's 19th shutout of the season.
The 2023 season for the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers Soccer Team was historic, marked by a record-setting 21-2 overall record and their first-ever 20-win season, outscoring opponents 115-6 and showcasing dominance on the field. Led by head coach James Beattie, the team's exceptional coaching and leadership earned accolades such as Region 23 Coach of the Year and NJCAA Gulf South District Coach of the Year.
Following a successful 2023-24 season, five members of the Northwest men’s rodeo team have clinched their qualifying spots for the College National Finals Rodeo.
Scheduled for June 9-15 in Casper, Wyoming, the College National Finals Rodeo brings together the top collegiate rodeo student-athletes from across the nation. After a long absence from the event, Northwest had one bull rider qualify for the CNFR last season, Colby Burgess.
Now, five members of this year’s team will compete in the event, led by freshman Christian Cagle. The Canton, Ga. native finished second in the Ozark Region’s men’s all-around standings, earning 1,210 points for the season. Cagle will also compete in steer wrestling, after finishing second with 650 points on the year.
Joining Cagle will be two additional Northwest steer wrestlers, Will Collier and Kent Jordan. Collier, a native of Malden, Mo., finished atop the Ozark Region
standings with 725 points, followed by Jordan’s thirdplace finish at 580 points.
Additionally, Northwest sophomore bull rider Luke Stanley also qualified for the CNFR, finishing the regular season in third place with 330 season points. Team roper Laine Moore also collected 620 points on the season, earning third place in the region standings.
As a team, the Northwest men narrowly missed out on qualifying for team competition at the CNFR, finishing with 4,050 combined points and a third-place finish. Meanwhile, the Northwest women’s team also finished eighth in the region with 435 season points.
In his first two seasons in command, Northwest rodeo coach Will Lummus has transformed the Ranger rodeo program into a national competitor. Lummus, also a professional steer wrestler, has now had six Northwest athletes qualify for the CNFR during his tenure.
Northwest fans were treated to an instant classic in the fall home season's finale, as the Rangers rallied back from a 14-0 deficit to earn a 28-27 overtime victory against Northeast.
Northwest trailed late in the third quarter in a mustwin game to make the MACCC Playoffs, only to storm back and tie the game in the fourth quarter, forcing overtime.
In true must-win fashion, the Rangers provided the biggest play of the game on Northeast’s two-point conversion attempt. After the Rangers scored first in overtime, Northeast responded back with a score and chose to go for the win after first mulling it over in a timeout. Chris McMillian took the handoff and had
what seemed like open space on the left side to score the winning points, until Charles Thomas wrapped up the legs of the Northeast tailback, stopping McMillian just a couple yards shy of the pylon, sealing the victory for the Rangers.
With the win, Northwest clinched a playoff berth for the 10th straight season, marking the program’s longest postseason streak. The streak dates back to 2014 and includes a pair of national titles in 2015 and 2020. During this stretch, the Rangers have also captured conference titles in 2015, 2020 and 2021.
