The mission of “Come & See, a Journal for Crusader Creativity” is to celebrate the impact of the visual and written arts in such a way that reflects Christ and allows students to honor God with their gifts.

Come & See was born out of my desire to start a new club at Northwest Christian for students whose interests and artistic expression continued outside of the classroom or went beyond the bounds of traditional school assignments. I began by dreaming of a club for writers, where a love for poetry, short stories, and all things creative could be shared. Eventually, Mr. Brown and I collaborated on this idea and out of our conversations, we had the idea for “Come & See” as the avenue for the Come & See high school club to capture, preserve, and celebrate not only the writing of Northwest Christian students, but also their artwork and photography. Just a few months later, I am proud to introduce to you the school’s first digital and print issue of “Come & See, a Journal for Crusader Creativity”. Going forward, our hope is to expand this publication for not only Northwest Christian, but for artistic students across various schools. I hope that you enjoy this issue and would encourage you to submit your own artwork!

Surrender

The thoughts in my mind manifest rigged doubt To prepare for the match of my soul My armor and strength quickly run out, And my sword, once sharp, is now dull.

I stumble to battle with tears in my eyes, Grieving the loss ahead. And as I prepare to surrender the prize, Relief replaces my dread

Somehow I know to accept His embrace, And the pain within fades away. I feel comforted at the sight of His face, And at home with no debt to pay
