Consignment Service

Retold also offers a consignment service, helping to rehome preloved clothing in a hassle-free way. Retold sells consumers’ unwanted items on their behalf, taking a commission and managing the photography, sales, packaging and posting. Retold also absorbs all website and transaction fees.

To ensure the products match Retold’s aesthetic and quality standard, images of potential products are sent in to be reviewed against Retold’s criteria. Selected items are promoted on Instagram and available to buy online, gaining a high level of coverage. Retold also gives the opportunity to donate a portion of the sale to a charity, communicating the ethical values of the brand.

This helps to expand the product on offer to create a more versatile selection, with Retold sourcing products from a range of places including markets, private sellers etc.

This is a more recent addition to Retold which Clare, the founder, is hoping to dedicate more time to. This is a great way for customers to re-evaluate what is in their wardrobe, making sure no garment goes unworn. This also adds a reason for consumers to visit the brand, as they have the option to sell or buy, increasing website traffic. This service has the potential to expand Retold’s community, creating a vintage community hub.

The process is shown on social media through a story highlight which draws attention to the scheme and provides positive promotion.
