Mini Hooptime

On Wednesday 14th June, all the Year 2 students went to Diamond Valley Stadium for a Mini Hooptime day. Students were given the opportunity to learn lots of new basketball skills for the first half of the day which was led by some expert coaches from the Eltham wildcats. In the second part of the day, students were placed into teams and were able to participate in mini basketball matches.

It was a fantastic event where the Year 2 students were able to showcase their talent and teamwork. Madelyn, Kosi, and William deserve recognition for their standout performances and contributions. Congratulations to all the Year 2 students for their achievements and a fantastic day of development, sport and fun.

Little Athletics

In Term 2, Little Athletics Australia provided a coach to facilitate their ‘Laps’ program at Northside. The coach visited the College to conduct sessions for the Year 3-6 students in preparation for the athletics carnival! It was beneficial to have experts in the field share their knowledge and teach specific skills to enhance students’ performance.

Rob, the coach from Laps Little Athletics, provided valuable insights and strategies for shot put, running, and long jump. Learning proper techniques and receiving guidance from a coach greatly improved students’ abilities in these events. With Rob’s guidance, the students developed a solid foundation and gained confidence in their abilities. By receiving professional guidance and incorporating the strategies taught by Rob, the students were better equipped to showcase their skills, compete effectively, and enjoy the athletics carnival experience. Overall, the visit from Little Athletics and the guidance provided by Coach Rob undoubtedly contributed to the students’ preparedness and success in the athletics carnival. It’s a fantastic initiative that promotes physical activity, skill development, and a positive attitude towards sports.
